Heyy guys! For a long time I've been playing horror games and I know Silent Hill is one of those classics but I've never get to experience any of them. Now with this HD collection coming soon on NextGen consoles... Should I realy buy it?
Being a big fan of silent hill and played them all, I say why not a change. The voices sound deeper and warmer. Either way I like them both, original and new one. Kool.

Its a game, its about the gameplay. 99% of people watch the videos once and skip them every time they play afterwards. So why would one be duped into buying the HD collection, unless gameplay has completely changed like it has in say the recent Resident Evils.

Its not that i don't like the new voices, I just don't like the way they're mixed, and the volume level is too high, its like the actors are standing off camera with a microphone speaking the lines while the game is being played.
Good news, you will be able to play Silent Hill 2 with original voices :D!!!! BUT....Silent Hill 3 voices will be changed....why do you think they havent showed any footage of it?

What the hell? They changed the voices? Everything about the way the characters spoke is ingrained in my memory. "I'm not your Mary" was my favorite video game line, they've totally eliminated the harshness of the original. Why?
I so hope that this is true, being able to choose the original voices. To me the new voices don't have that depth & emotion like the originals do. The original voices are one of many reasons why Silent Hill 2 is a classic. If Silent Hill 3 HD has new voices, I hope you'll be able to choose between original & new. Thumbs up if you agree & are happy that the original voices are here to stay :-D
a guess sony dosnt get exclusives anymore huh? theyre remaking everything sony exclusive and putting it on 360... ex: Devil May Cry HD collection, this, metal gear HD, metal gear rising(not sure if i care though), resident evil games and pretty much anything titled HD this year. But you dont see Halo Anniversary on ps3 -.-. (I dont care wich one people think is better, it's just microsoft is greedy...)

Never finished Silent Hill 1. But I did finish "Silent Hill 2" and "Silent Hill 3" and loved them; did not like "Silent Hill: The Room" and never played "Silent Hill Origins". I also finished "Silent Hill: Homecoming". Didn't like "Silent Hill: Shattered Memories" either. Can't wait for "Silent Hill HD Collection" and especially "Silent Hill: Downpour".

@MichaelHuntington If you are a fan of anything after SH3 you are not a silent hill fan. =P Silent hill died after the 3rd game and the 2nd was the best ever!!! So you're in for a treat.
In my opinion, I did like the voice acting in the original games. It's not the best but, It lets you in a limbo state because you really can comprehend what everybody is trying to say. It lets everything to your imagination and it doesn't sound overacting like this new voice change. I know everybody isn't going to agree with me but I really don't care... And I've beat SH2 8 times, SH3 5 times, and this new voice change is gonna kaka-duru my head! F**k!!!!!...... Am I alive????
really disappointed they didn't put The Room in this collection - it was one of my favourites, and had a great story line which I really enjoyed. The voice acting sounds kind-of shit, and out of sync in this hd collection. Will I be getting it? I don't know but downpour looks alright but we'll see about that too.
They really should have included Silent Hill 4, the game wasn't THAT terrible. It in my opinion sported the best (true to the games) graphics (no loss in texture design which seems to be the new fad) and soundtrack. The gameplay and story were shit, but it was after all still Team Silent, not this new, American, downpour, ice shatter, whatever else bullshit. It was a true SH game, the last in my opinion.
Chillout about the voices ya nutcases, the original actors have signed off on it and Konami has said that they're going to provide the option to turn on the original voice work should you desire.

What? There is no layering for the voices. They are all at full volume, like speaking directly into the mic. You are supposed to layer the recording to give it depth, make it sound like it's coming from within the room you're seeing, etc.
If the camera is five feet from the actor, it is supposed to sound like the noise is five feet away from the camera. Not directly in your ear. This has been standard dialogue practice since like the 1940s.
i hope they give the chance to change to the original voices..if they dont ..is not worth buying.yeah the graphics and wathever ..they better add some extras .

this doesn't really surprise me. Silent Hill is turning to be Down The Hill. There should never have been remakes or reimagined SH games like Shattered Memories and nobody asked for an HD remastering of old SH sequels. I'm not even gonna comment on the new voice acting. The series is slowly dying without Team Silent, that's a fact.

@pureblackeagle I have to disagree. The old voice acting was nowhere near the first Resi, Resi sucked, was out of sync, voices didn't match the faces etc etc. SH had it's voice acting issues in the original game, but the sequels took care of that and were superb. There was no need for HD, let alone the new voice actors.

Hmmm... I will tell you honestly what i trully find sad, and it's about Konami & Silent Hill's fans. Back then when Mary Elizabeth and Akira left the Silent Hill series, everyone cried, and said they won't buy the new instalment (Downpour) now that she is back, directing and even doing some voice over for the new HD version? Everyone is crying again. I know we're all nostalgic of our great SH, PS1 and PS2 versions, but c'mon guys, give her a chance at least.

The original voice acting wasn't really good in every Team Silent games, except for The Room. The new voice acting is so bad as the old one, but in a different way... Anyway, what's the point of trying make the old voice acting better, if the characters were animated to sound like this? Thear's no way to fit another king of acting in the way that Maria Speaks in the cutscene because of the way that she moves her lips, the same for James and all the other characters. Dumb decisions

Silent Hill 2 now have the original voices back.
BUT Silent Hill 3 they couldnt find Heather Morris,
the voice actress for Heather Mason. so Silent Hill 2
has been saved. but people that want Silent Hill 3
original voice are out of luck. its TOO LATE to find her.
the game is due out in alil over 2weeks. so the games
been printed and everything. its too late. i LOVED heathers
voice in 3 aswell. but we will have to make do with what we get now.

What? There is no layering for the voices. They are all at full volume, like speaking directly into the mic. You are supposed to layer the recording to give it depth, make it sound like it's coming from within the room you're seeing, etc.
If the camera is five feet from the actor, it is supposed to sound like the noise is five feet away from the camera. Not directly in your ear. This has been standard dialogue practice since like the 1940s.

Bah.. now im dissapointed.. i do Love this Game.. but agree with some of you tohers.. the voices are really terrible..:( had so much hoped for them making a good effort and turning one of the better classis from the franchise come to life again..
but this.. the old voices are veeery much better.. this seem like they will make a classic into budget..:(

ok.... why dont they HD the old games graphics BUT get the old voice actors? If they cant they could get the audio and make it sound better! Then new ones are CRAP! So just get the old audio and use it? You could make it sound better WITHOUT changing it....

this doesn't really surprise me. Silent Hill is turning to be Down The Hill. There should never have been remakes or reimagined SH games like Shattered Memories and nobody asked for an HD remastering of old SH sequels. I'm not even gonna comment on the new voice acting. The series is slowly dying without Team Silent, that's a fact.

okay. GET THE FUCK OVER IT. they needed new voice actors, the old ones were not good. almost as bad as in the first Resident Evil when Wesker said "Wait. do. n't. op. en. that. door." like one fucking syllable every three seconds. modern voice actors are much better. i agree James sounded better in the original, but that's one as compared to like five other characters. we all know you're going to buy it, so have fun with your little internet petition. no one is going to take you seriously idiots

@pureblackeagle I have to disagree. The old voice acting was nowhere near the first Resi, Resi sucked, was out of sync, voices didn't match the faces etc etc. SH had it's voice acting issues in the original game, but the sequels took care of that and were superb. There was no need for HD, let alone the new voice actors.

Hmmm... I will tell you honestly what i trully find sad, and it's about Konami & Silent Hill's fans. Back then when Mary Elizabeth and Akira left the Silent Hill series, everyone cried, and said they won't buy the new instalment (Downpour) now that she is back, directing and even doing some voice over for the new HD version? Everyone is crying again. I know we're all nostalgic of our great SH, PS1 and PS2 versions, but c'mon guys, give her a chance at least.

The original voice acting wasn't really good in every Team Silent games, except for The Room. The new voice acting is so bad as the old one, but in a different way... Anyway, what's the point of trying make the old voice acting better, if the characters were animated to sound like this? Thear's no way to fit another king of acting in the way that Maria Speaks in the cutscene because of the way that she moves her lips, the same for James and all the other characters. Dumb decisions
