  • would love to hear them do a cover of cosmic dancer by t-rex

  • set the fire , gather around people , sing together like happy family ...cause im going to rock on in the other side of the camp...lol

  • Saw this show. Sigh.

  • If you like band of horses/ midlake/ fleet foxes then you might like British band called FOSSIL COLLECTIVE. They have a great vid on youtube called ON & ON - check it out xx

  • they are AMAZING

  • Fleet Foxes in Chicago

  • awesome song, brilliant album

  • amazing band

  • God I love this song,

  • Fleet foxes are usually better on their cds but this is even better than the recorded version.

  • Every vid from this show starts a verse late!

  • Yup.

  • so many presenters on triple j in australia said that they played the best show of the year and i can see why from this video awesome

  • These guys really have their tunes down. Those harmonies are tight. You hardly ever hear mistakes, which is amazing considering they're usually doing at least a 3-part harmony! I just can't say enough about their musicianship. Top-notch

  • Fleet Foxes are amazing...even if it's just for a one minute video.

  • these are so awesome aw i love them

  • love it

  • i listened to these guys when i heard ragged wood and my buddy told me to go and check them out again... now i cant get enough of these guys. keep up the good work!

  • What an idiot.

  • why did you say that

  • The Fleet Foxes are one of the musical groups that are a bright spot on the music landscape. Great vocal harmonies.

  • genre, my ass!

  • i was following the pack all swallowed in their coats with scarves of red tied around their throats to keep their little heads from falling in the snow and i turned round and there you go and micheal you would fall and turn the white snow red as strawberries in summertime

  • WHAT?!!

    THAT'S PREPOSTEROUS.

  • Buffalo Springfield crossed with the Beach Boys and a sprinkling of The Moody Blues. I like this band very much!

  • Agreed!

I think of The Band when I hear them also.

  • such a beautiful song

  • Hey, it's interesting to talk about influences! I hear CSN, the Beach Boys, Love... but yeah, I also hear the Moody Blues. I bought this record for my dad's birthday, and that's the first thing he said when he listened to it.

  • Who cares about influences. It's just uplifting in its own right! Watch the animated version and Fred & Ginger. Great stuff

  • Where can I find the animated version?

    Thanks!!

  • The animated version is on the YouTube video titled:

Fleet Foxes - White Winter Hymnal

  • Thank you!! That was nice of you to help me.

  • who cares what influence people had, what i want is good music, nice artistic effort making me appreciate all of musics wonder, a copy of a picasso is still a magnificient piece of art to my eyes...

  • I don't care who influenced them, they're sweet

  • About influences: Nobody ever admits it, but the shins, the decemberists, these guys, and all of the ones doing this are influenced by the moody blues.

  • Moody Blues - that's exactly what i've been saying!

there's also a bit of The Association in there too, doncha think?

  • Good Call!

  • the association???? lets try not to put two bands in the same genre because they have tambourines

  • Elephant Island

  • No ekgr212, I saw them last night in LA.

  • Love these guys. They remind me a little bit of The Shins. Always happy to see new bands creatiing beautiful songs crafted in old school style. (Was happy to see these guys reference the band Love as an influence - GREAT!!)

  • Agree that there is a Shinny thing going on here, but then when I first heard the Shins I thought "hmm there's a Neutral Milk Hotel/GBV thing going on here". The torch gets passed on, thank Jah. This has taken over from "Time to Pretend" as my best song of '08.

  • Dude i am seeing them Monday night and this just totally excites me!!! They are good live!

  • hairyXcore, would you happen to be seeing them in Birmingham AL? Bc I am also going to that..

  • amazing.

hopefully i get a chance to see them at austin city limits.

  • i love this band! Thanks for posting ;)

  • This is by far the best new band of 2008. So good to see that young musicians go back to their roots (Brian Wilson, CSN&Y, Judee Sill, Steve Miller Band)and mix it with their own experiences into something new and exciting.

  • best new artist could be bon iver, but you did say band...

  • Totally agree, on all the line ;)

  • I have to say they sound best in a small venue. P4k just didn't give them justice.

I'd love to hear them serenade a small crowd without any microphones.

  • you have a fucking primo spot

  • I'm always front row for my fleets.

  • jesus i love these guys.

  • love this song. just hear it for the first time this week on The Current in the Twin Cities.

  • freekin' sweet me too. if fleet foxes see this I FREEKIN LOVE U!!!!!!

  • i didn't know Ringo Starr was the guitarist. Crraaayzay!

  • Campfire music is my favorite. :]

  • I think the studio recorded version of this song (from the album) does it more justice because the vocals are more echo-y and the sound is just overall airy. For me, that's why I love this song. That's not to say that they're bad live. I guess it just depends on the acoustics of the venue. If I get the chance I will definitely go see them live.

  • Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah!

  • Jealousy.........

  • blah blah blah i need music to have gimmicks i have bad taste blah blah blah

  • those who don't get it, just don't get it.

  • They are coming in Montreal the 15th of July and since I've seen how good they sound live on youtube, I just can't wait!

  • You are in for such a wonderful treat. They're fantastic.

  • Missed them on the UK tour.Damn transport let down, living out in the sticks. This band restores a little faith. Nice when something poignant, heartfelt, soulful comes along... All too rare.A lot of respect.

  • these guys are about to blow up!!!

  • TRUTH!

  • this doesn't sound live

  • That's how good Fleet Foxes is, lol. I took this video with a Canon PowerShot SD1000 at Schubas in Chicago earlier this year. I guess my camera has pretty good sound recording quality compared to its video capabilities. :)

  • hey .. for a vid shot on a Digital Still cam..

hand-held..this really ain't too bad! Just wished it were 4 x longer! Sound IS pretty good, too.Thanks.. this band intruiges me!

  • I love these guys... Been listening to these guys since I heard about them on NPR's All Songs Considered SXSW Episode.

  • dude...make the trip to the PNW...they are opening for Wilco in August 08 in Spokane, Boise and Utah. I mean, are you kidding me? they are only 21 yrs of age...great stuff to look forward to.

  • Just played this band on the jolly bbc (uk) last week and I was well impressed. Kinda reminds me of a band I might have missed about 1971.Keep up the good work Foxes. Look forward to seeing you in the uk soon.Glad to see music matters over on the west coast now.
