@123ringwormz123 No question about that buddy. It's become a real problem here where I live . I know probably 10 people under the age of 40 who have died in the past 5 yrs from opiate overdose. And at least 20 more whose life is all messed up from addiction to them . They can be a blessing or a curse depending on an individuals situation
Anyone else think this song reminds them of a soundtrack from the original Spyro the Dragon? :D Even Spyro's creators were inspired by Led Zeppelin XD
@123ringwormz123 not when youve broken your back and neck like I did . In which case they improve quality of life quite alot. I wish I didnt have to take them , but I am glad they are there when I need them
This song reminds of the scene in Lord of the Rings when the Uruk Hai are running through the forest of Amon Hen and along the banks of river Anuin while chasing the fellowship down stream.
not saying i wanted bonham to die because i didnt but if they carried on in the 80s i think they would have gone down hill, john paul and bonham were fine even though bonham was drinking a lot but plant was losing his voice and page just couldnt play because of his heroin addiction. so i respect them for what they gave us but one has to realize that not every band can go on forever
@Rorschachxx1985 LED ZEPPELIN will go on forever. page could still play and plant could still sing. so dont even say that is was sort of a good thing bonham died. LED ZEPPELIN will only get better over time
@jamescurtis3636 i never said it was, i love led zeppelin but i would hate it if they went down hill. a lot of bands have love at metallica! get ur facts rights jimmy page was taking heroin which prevented him from playing properly, if u asked plant to sing dazed and confused now theres no way he could do it thats why hes in band of joy, of course led zeppelin will go on forever im agreeing with u, but im just saying some good things must come to an end
Of all Zep songs, this and the Ocean are the two that get stuck in my head the easiest... and by stuck I'll be whistling the main guitar riffs for weeks on end.
This album reminds me of AUTUMN walking through the woods in the town where I came from. Getting a little dark out, cloudy, heading home after hanging with the boys round the fire pit. Car battery was hooked up to kick ass box cranking out LZ, tunes all on tape. Definite old world feel, haunting...
@jamo387 this recording also reminds me of the fall seasons. a very brown orange yellow and red color sounding record....make sense? i could just go for a long drive through the woods and get lost to this one.
i own EVERY Led Zep CD , LP (vinyl) , and on MP3 (Remastered Japan , Complete Recordings ), and Believe me ; I Love Em All ....would i call myself a Zep Head ? Yes i would ;-D,
@frindle1212 except their new album from 2011 (I know they don't have 1 even in the process, but that's my point, I do think they need to get a new album as a tribute to Bonzo, and have Bonzo's son, Jason, to play at a bit of a tribute for John, honestly he sounds 90% like John (Bonham's) playing)
@Stefandurrr I'd never noticed this time signature change. Jeez that's clever. Another band that were geniuses of this sort of trick were The Stranglers...

5/4 time on the main riff and 3/4 time on the chorus - ?
These guys did some amazing syntheses of musical types: folk guitar sheen, sitar-like tonalities, African polyrythms, poetic blues lyrics - unique!
I especially love Plant's couplet: ooh baby, the river's red/ ah baby, in my head
the first line is an apocalyptic Biblical plague, the second line is a man in emotional torment, about to snap - really gives a sense of immediate emotional crisis, i.e., the Blues - just, wow
@1aggiesrule I think they suspected it was "good" but did they know just how great??no way man who could have?I think they went for what sounded above a certain "bar" to satisfy themselves first.I've always thought that they were extremely high minded when it came to being tru to there musical aspirations.i.e they didn't write "singles".To me each record they recorded was a masterpeice of great single songs that made up more than the sum of there parts.
This song is so typical of what makes Led Zeppelin so superior: All the musicians are gifted and each contributes fully. Thus we don't have a vocalist's input overwhelming mediocre music that's only there to support the vocalist. There is no showcasing going on here: You can listen to this song as a whole or you can enjoy each instrument in itself and be equally blown away.
@fasterhorses you are so right there isn't just one person in this band that made the band all of the musicians made the band and they put everything they had into thier songs and why they were so great on nearly every single song they've made, plus Zepplin gives a little of somethign to everyone style of listener which is another factor why they were so great
I have this album on cassette and it kinda slurrs the sound in my truck when I take a sharp corner! It is...trippy to say the least. Led Zeppelin Rules!
I LOVE THIS SONG!.......want to know something about the foo fighters that they dare not print anywhere.....go to "i aint the one worldvisions2008" and press "see all" to find my 3 comments. regards.
Bonzo used four drumsticks in this song, two in each hand, hence the title. He just saw Ginger Baker's Air Force play the night before and he wanted to show him up one!
that section "when the owls cry in the night" is one of the most beautifully haunting sections of music I've ever heard...and it takes me back to being about 10 years old when the older neighbor kids were playing this record..still gives me goosebumps 1:05
Its called "Four Sticks" Because Bonzo struggled so much on the beat that in frustration he picked up two sets of drum sticks and banged out the recording. For lack of a better name it was dubbed "Four sticks"
When I wasn't even born yet, my mom would constantly put on Zeppelin. No wonder I have such good taste in music. This song even amazed me at age five, just didn't pay much attention.
@Ingramdumpkiss Hah, thats the truth and Zepplin are about that.We seem to carry 50 Sticks now,and they call it 4.Hope it changes for the children, but our officials have the children in debt (slavery?)
@diperrimax I always say the best guitarist could be dabted in my opinion, but the best drummer ever hands down is John Bonham. Nobody even comes close.

@diperrimax I always say the best guitarist could be dabted in my opinion, but the best drummer ever hands down is John Bonham. Nobody even comes close.
maocapoeira 6 months ago
@maocapoeira I agree, best drummer we've ever seen. It was tragic to see him go.
jenica2072 6 months ago

@diperrimax Exactly why they named it four sticks. Bonzo held two sticks in each hand and beat the fuck out of the drums
GrantGuides 6 months ago 3
