  • @123ringwormz123 No question about that buddy. It's become a real problem here where I live . I know probably 10 people under the age of 40 who have died in the past 5 yrs from opiate overdose. And at least 20 more whose life is all messed up from addiction to them . They can be a blessing or a curse depending on an individuals situation

  • not saying i wanted bonham to die because i didnt but if they carried on in the 80s i think they would have gone down hill, john paul and bonham were fine even though bonham was drinking a lot but plant was losing his voice and page just couldnt play because of his heroin addiction. so i respect them for what they gave us but one has to realize that not every band can go on forever

  • This album reminds me of AUTUMN walking through the woods in the town where I came from. Getting a little dark out, cloudy, heading home after hanging with the boys round the fire pit. Car battery was hooked up to kick ass box cranking out LZ, tunes all on tape. Definite old world feel, haunting...

  • May I recommend the book 'An Essential Guide To Music In The 1970s' by Johnny Zero. The author is a big fan of this track.

  • To this day i can readily grab any Zepp album and enjoy it straight thru-side to side.How many of todays contemporary groups qualify at that level??It's clear that while they were making money at it-It was not the sole endeavor.I definitaly think they knew that there was a special chemistry amongst the group.That's why they didn't opt to replace Bonzo when he passed.I love that they thought to include any and all instruments and didnt keyhole the band to any one "patent sound". my fav 4 ever!!!!

    These guys did some amazing syntheses of musical types: folk guitar sheen, sitar-like tonalities, African polyrythms, poetic blues lyrics - unique!

    I especially love Plant's couplet: ooh baby, the river's red/ ah baby, in my head

    the first line is an apocalyptic Biblical plague, the second line is a man in emotional torment, about to snap - really gives a sense of immediate emotional crisis, i.e., the Blues - just, wow

  • @1aggiesrule I think they suspected it was "good" but did they know just how great??no way man who could have?I think they went for what sounded above a certain "bar" to satisfy themselves first.I've always thought that they were extremely high minded when it came to being tru to there musical aspirations.i.e they didn't write "singles".To me each record they recorded was a masterpeice of great single songs that made up more than the sum of there parts.

  • This song is so typical of what makes Led Zeppelin so superior: All the musicians are gifted and each contributes fully. Thus we don't have a vocalist's input overwhelming mediocre music that's only there to support the vocalist. There is no showcasing going on here: You can listen to this song as a whole or you can enjoy each instrument in itself and be equally blown away.

  • @fasterhorses you are so right there isn't just one person in this band that made the band all of the musicians made the band and they put everything they had into thier songs and why they were so great on nearly every single song they've made, plus Zepplin gives a little of somethign to everyone style of listener which is another factor why they were so great

  • Back in the 70s I had this on 8-track and the tape shell was pink. It made the Zep 8-tracks easy to spot in your collection.

  • Its called "Four Sticks" Because Bonzo struggled so much on the beat that in frustration he picked up two sets of drum sticks and banged out the recording. For lack of a better name it was dubbed "Four sticks"
