When you first start it will sound like crap, iv'e played bout 4 years nearly 5 and i still can't always sound great. (Yeah, i know this was posted a year ago, lol)

I have the same problem! I've been wanting to play the violin forever and when I got it, I didn't have a book,nor did I have the money to get a teacher and I can't read music. So what I did was watch different vidoes on youtube and try to watch the fingers and bowing. It's not perfect but I have been able to learn a bit^-^
