  • I have windows vista but i can not activate this feature. What should I do?

  • @BoughtYouOffEbay Is it Vista Home Premium or higher? Handwriting does not work with the lowest version of Vista (I think that is Home).

You have a Bamboo a well right?

    Rich

  • I can't seem to get this feature to work on my laptop with windows 7. I've tried everything in your tutorial, and nothing is apparent :( Could you help me?

  • I have Windows 7 Home Premium, can I get this feature? I also have a Wacom Bamboo Pen (latest version)

  • @itouchAppleproducts Yes - it's built into Windows.

Do a search for Tablet Input Panel to get it up and then do a search for Journal.

That will get you going as long as you installed the drivers for you Bamboo.

    Rich

  • @itouchAppleproducts What version of Windows 7 do you have? It has to be at least Home Premium.

The other thing to check is that the drivers for you Bamboo Pen are installed.

There is more information on the handwriting page on my site at the-graphics-tablet com - check it out.

    Rich

  • @riberg Hey thanks for getting back to me on this one. The drivers for my Wacom Bamboo (New Version) are installed and I have Windows 7 Home Premium, I have not got round to trying this feature yet, not enough time on my hands the now.. will get to it soon though. Will it be the same Steps to finding this feature?

  • @itouchAppleproducts The steps are exactly the same. I've been working on a Windows 7 video but it's not ready yet.

    Rich

  • Does anyone no what to do with windows XP thats wat im useing HELP ME PLEASE!! :(

  • @LUVMEMUSIC18 You have to launch the Language Bar. Do a search for it in the Start Menu.

That is the XP attempt at handwriting recognition.

    Rich

  • @riberg i DID A SEARCH 4 IT IN THE START MENU BUT IT CAME UP BLANK????

THANK YOU 4 ALL YOUR HELP PLEASE MORE HELP WOULD BE APRECIATED!

Also I tried using some of those code 4 microsoft office 7 but it keeps saying register online it's not letting me try another code? please help RIBERG! :D

  • @LUVMEMUSIC18 I'm on my MAC right now so I will have to check out XP tomorrow and let you know exactly how to get the Language Bar up.

As for the Microsoft Office thing - no idea what that is all about. Sorry ...

    Rich

  • Would the wacom be enough as far as handwriting recognition, or would I need to purchase additional software for say...an xp system?

  • No extra software is needed but handwriting recognition is dodgy with XP.

You have to find the Language Bar and set Handwriting there.

    Rich

  • i want to use a tablet for handwriting and automatically having it convert to text in word. Do you recommend the bamboo? Is it efficient enough to do this, or is it really only capable of writing 1 sentance at a time?

  • The Bamboo is capable of doing anything with handwriting.

Where you may find a problem is with your computer (too slow), the Operating System (XP or Vista or Mac) and/or your handwriting (neat or a scrawl).

And by the way - writing one sentence at a time is great and that is what you do with pen and paper, right?

    Rich

  • @riberg Why won;t it work RIBERB :( I have tried every thing and it won't work! im useing window 7 please help me! :(

  • @LUVMEMUSIC18 I'm not using Windows 7 so I really can't be specific but here are some general suggestions.

Did you install the drivers for your tablet? If not then the O/S won't know there is a tablet installed.

Go to Search and type in Tablet Input Panel to bring it up and then in Search type in Journal to get the Journal.

Is Windows 7 at least Home Premium. Handwriting does not work with Windows 7 Home - it has to be at least Home Premium.

    Richard

  • @ riberb srry i got it wrong im using windows xp is there any hope? :( And i also tried every thing you said and it still didn't work HELP ME :(

  • How evil of you to trick your computer Dx

I'm awaiting my Bamboo Fun Small to come in the mail :)

Thanks for making this video, I'm excited to use it with my Windows Live Messenger.

  • I am so embarrassed by this video - the computer went back to the store quite quickly and was replaced with a MacBook.

Much more expensive but such a good machine.

Have fun with the messenger - it certainly will catch peoples attention ...!

    Rich

  • Hey, i just bought a laptop installed with vista, and i have a bamboo fun tablet. i just installed it yesterday and whenever i draw a stroke on any drawing program/internet game it lags real bad.

do you have a solution/tips or did this ever happen to you??

  • hey i searched for the panel but apparently it not there i was wondering if it is on bamboo fun at all.

  • The panel is part of Vista Home Premium and above.

If you have Vista Home then you will not find it.

If you have the correct version of Vista then type in TIP in the Search box.

    Good luck ...

    Rich

  • Price wise the Bamboo is the best solution. The ONLY difference between the Bamboo and the Bamboo Fun is what is in the box. Other than that the two tablets are identical with some minor cosmetic differences.

The Bamboo Fun includes Adobe Elements 6, Painter Essentials 4 and some Nik filters as well as a mouse.

The Bamboo does not include the software and mouse.

If you have digital editing software (Photoshop, Elements or Paint Shop Pro, for instance) then you will be fine with the Bamboo.

  • Just a note: for anyone in Europe, the Bamboo Fun does not come bundled with a mouse or Painter Essentials 4 - just Adobe Elements 6 and some Wacom software apps.

  • hey,

I'm considering getting the bamboo and I have 2 questions, 1, does the driver install to multiple computers? and 2, how good is it for note taking and writing in programs such as Microsoft OneNote or Windows Journal, or even Microsoft Paint.

  • You can install the drivers on as many computers as you want.

The Bamboo is good for note taking and writing in One Note or Word.

The Bamboo was specifically designed to work with Handwriting Recognition.

    Rich

  • One last question, do you think for a high school student taking notes that bamboo is better or bamboo fun, taking in to account the price difference.

  • Will it have the same program for Vista Home Premium? I don't know if it is the same as Premium.

  • Wow...nvm I figured it out, Home Premium IS Premium...I feel dumb lol

  • Well - it was dumb of me not to name it correctly ...

    Rich

  • An easier way to get the panel: Right click on the taskbar go to toolbars > tablet PC input panel. This will put an icon on you taskbar for the panel then you can just click on it to open

  • Cool - I didn't know that.

    R

  • Im Using My bamboo to Write this!!

  • That is awesome ! Way to go!!

    R

  • Im sorry did you mean that sarcastically?

  • Absolutely not - I apologize if it came out that way.

I think it is really great that you did it with the Bamboo!

    Rich

  • wow, tht machine is smart, it recognised ur "n" i thought tht was an "m" until u sed it. XD

lol, i have terrible handwriting, but dont make i dont make it worse with fancy extars tht change the letter XD

but kwl, thx im glad i know how to do this now. shame i have an xp not vista. =[

  • this wont work for A Dell wont it?

  • Sure it will work on a Dell as long as you have Vista Premium or above.

The machine has nothing to do with it - it is an operating system thing.

    go for it ...

    Rich

  • Hey, I just got my Wacom Bamboo Fun and when i put in the Extra Software Bundle CD nothing happens what do I do, Do i have to download th eprograms then put in the Serial Number?

  • Did you install the drivers? They are absolutely essential.

When you say you put in the Extra Software Bundle CD - did the extra software install properly?

You should have Photoshop Elements 5 and Corel Painter Essentials 3 on your machine.

    Good luck ...

    Rich

  • what drivers? i think thats what im missing

  • The driver CD that was in your Bamboo box. There were 2 CD's - the software bundle and the drivers.

You need to install the drivers to make everything work correctly.

    Rich

  • so the driver is the cd that is used to install the bamboo? because i have the software cd and the other cd is to tried install the bundle, i tried to install the software on another comp that i havent installed the bamboo on and it worked so instead of having the software on this comp i have it installed on another comp, so its frustrating that i have to go back and forth from one comp to another, should i just download the programs from the internet and insert the serial number on the program?

  • You cab try that - it may work.

Just remember you have to install the drivers on the same computer as the Bamboo.

    R

  • You make enough errors to work for microsoft...lol

    Your hired pal.

  • Har - thanks for the comment. Normally I work on a MAC ...

    Rich

  • That was a good tutorial...

I'm getting mine today, and it's great to have information like this to go on.

Thanks for the tuts and for your sense of humor. Oh and keep those photoshop and tablet tutorials going... every body does Photoshop tutorials but not Tablets. Light bulb moment?

  • Thanks - glad you like them.

Nice site you have and great artwork.

Have fun with your tablet! Bamboo or Intuos?

    Rich

  • Thank you,

I'm just a bigginer at 3d, but have bin working with photoshop for a while. I'd say I'm an average user no where near pro level.

Now I subscribed to you youtube channel and put you website on my favorates, well couse i've seen many photoshop tutorials but none with the tablet... I was thinkin to get the wacom bamboo or the bamboo fun, What would you suggest. I allready own Photoshop CS3 dont need photoshop elements. or maybe there is a better tablet? By wacom of course.

  • If you have all of the software (and you do) then the Bamboo is fine. It is the least expensive ($79.00 US) and does not include the bundled software or a mouse. It is also value priced.

The Bamboo Fun Medium is just larger. The Intuos is the professional line - twice the levels of pressure and twice the resolution and more expensive.

The Cintiq is a Wacom tablet inside an LCD screen and starts about $1000. Know what - the Bamboo is great!

Luck with it and let me know what you get.

    Rich

  • Thanx for you great advise,

I think I will get the Bamboo... Love the looks of it.

Knowing me, as soon as get used to it I'll be upgrading.lol Well made my mind up so Tomorrow for sure, wiil let you know what I bought and after I play with it for a while, I'll let you know what I think of it. Thanks for everything.

  • You are welcome and it is my pleasure.

Have a blast with the "Boo" and show me your awesome work. I can only wish I was artistic but stick men have their place, right?

    Rich

  • Finaly,

Got it tryed to post a video here with my LifeCam and I could not do it...

Aniway Love it allready, I have bin using it nonStop but not postng till I get really good.

Photoshop is awsome with this but can't post clients materials.I did a quick sketch thou and some Paiter auto paint on my website.

Where can I find a good youtube video converter, it won't take avi or will it?

  • At 4:07, why did you clear the 't' instead of picking 'insert space to the left' and then change the 't' to an 'f'? That way you don't have to rewrite the following characters.

  • I have no idea why I did it that way. Perhaps I wanted to cause myself more work.

Good observation! Your way is probably better.

    Rich

  • thnx man

  • Thanks buddy!

  • You are welcome ...
