My friend is very good with iPods and hacking them and he said that the apple kill switch is the open way to prevent you from hacking they use this switch to literally "kill" your iPod by this I mean they will turn your iPod off(kill) and you will never be able to use it again(it will be permanently off) and that is the only way to prevent it.
