@TheKraitman It had nothing to do with knowing the reporter 'had him', there are very few things more annoying then when you are trying to get points across and you are interrupted before you get to the most convincing part. Especially when those interruptions are on purpose to manipulate the viewers so that any answer he gives after will be looked at with a negative bias.
