Chinese troops are not as experienced as U.S. and Indian troops. Indian troops have been facing the Pakistani forces in Kashmiir for decades, and American has been locked in a 10 year war in Afghanistan and Iraq. An aircraft carrier is nothing more than a very large target if one is engaging a modern western power; but at this point there's no reason to believe we'll have to fight China. The Chinese have been humiliated and pushed around for centuries. It's not hard to understand their desire to be militarily strong in defence of their interests. Their oil has to sail past India, an old enemy. That alone justifies building aircraft carriers.

Their big problem was they didn't have wings that folded sufficiently, and so they could not carry enough airplanes per carrier to rival the US. Lucky for the US ! We should remember that for the last three months of 1942, the US had only the USS Enterprise to combat Japanese carriers in the Pacific!

Indian troops have been facing the Pakistani forces in Kashmiir for decades, and American has been locked in a 10 year war in Afghanistan and Iraq. Actually, most of the "cheap labor", if it ever were, came from the Soviet Union. This is an unfinished Soviet era aircraft carrier, the Varyag, which the Chinese purchased and then finished fitting out with the over $1.5 trillion US dollars they are now sitting on.

Yes, this one may be somewhat of a joke but our first, the Langley, wasnt nuclear powered either. They are making huge steps in a direction that will dangerous for the sovereignty of our allies and the safety of our fleet. You could argue they copied the Idea of an Aircraft carrier, because I think the USA had the first carrier, them or Japan. @ShantyManCan I was making a rip on china based on the fact that 90% of the things they make are a cheap copy. This carrier is based exactly on how the USS George Washington was built. In the past 20 years, what has China created that has changed the world that they made on their own? They have stolen our nuke's blueprints, for many different types, I might add, they make cheap copies of Honda dirt bikes, and this aircraft carrier is no different. Created by cheap Chinese labor.

@tomcatdcn For starters the Chinese bought an unfinished aircraft carrier from the Russian for research. So it’s hardly copying the US. They didn't steal blue prints for nukes, the theory for the way the atomic bomb / hydrogen bomb, work, is known far and wide. China has used the ideas of certain things as I said, but they are not 'copies' just because they look like other things.

An aircraft carrier is nothing more than a very large target if one is engaging a modern western power; but at this point there's no reason to believe we'll have to fight China. The Chinese have been humiliated and pushed around for centuries. It's not hard to understand their desire to be militarily strong in defence of their interests. Their oil has to sail past India, an old enemy. That alone justifies building aircraft carriers.
