I found it at HEB here in Texas, but some Ace Hardware stores sell it. Walmart down here doesn't seem to sell it, but that doesn't mean that none of them do. I can't say about Food Lion, because I haven't lived in Ohio for many years. All I can suggest is check a few different grocery stores in the laundry department, and one of them might carry it.
@artgoat I tried some but it must have soap because the suds were insane. It was better than baking soda or even baking and break the hydrogen bond of baking soda but I just tried soda ash from an art store and it seems best, waiting on the crystal to form now.
That actually is the name, though looking online, I see that it's called "Super Washing Soda." I bought it when I was doing electrolytic rust removal, because it's safer to use than sodium hydroxide, but I don't know how pure it is. Probably as pure as the grocery-store bicarbonate, anyway.
@artgoat Yea, I looked it up, it is "super washing soda" but I was actually curious to the name of the store you found it at. When I googled it, it says it can be found at Ace Hardware. I don't think I have seen it anywhere else but I haven't really looked either. Maybe I can find some at a Walmart or Kroger? I guess I'll either look around or order it online but it will take so long to get here and I'm in a bit of a hurry. I need to find a good method for a friends daughters science fairproject
@artgoat Really? What is the name, I wonder if I have one here, because I had to order soda ash from an art supplier. I did attempt to bake the baking soda to break up the hydrogen bond but it did work much better. I did get crystals but they were small and brittle from impurities. Get back to me with that name if you have it.

Our local grocery store sells Arm and Hammer Washing Soda, which is a good source of sodium carbonate.
