Zipcar has absolutely terrible service in New York City. Except if you live in Manhattan (there . . . you can usually find 20 cars available within a 1 mile radius) but not (The Bronx) or parts of Brooklyn. I have to take the bus/train to the nearest zipcar, and only 1 is available.

It's very obvious - the folks at Zipcar did not want to serve "Everyone" in different neighborhoods in the city. Thinking they're not viable worthy customers.

It's easy to steal a car regardless of whether it has keys or not. The things that stop potential thieves from stealing a car is the environment its in, the fact it's near impossible to profit from stealing cars and the high likelihood of getting caught if you did try to sell it.
