I would love to see this video go back into production. My husband is a lariam sufferer and this is by far the worst thing we have ever experienced. This drug makes you lose your mind quite literally. Perfectly normal people begin to do things that would otherwise be undesirable. The long term side effects are incredibly horrifying to say the very least. My question is, why is this drug still available and given to our troops... Pathetic!
Hello PublicEye team & viewers of this video, I have a request and as this moving story appears to be a good place to reach the people I'm looking for, I hope it's okay that I post here.
I'm an actor & theatre practitioner in London, currently working on a verbatim project on the AMERICAN HEALTH CARE SYSTEM and needing willing participants to share their views & experiences. is there a full documentary about this, i took larium for 8 months while serving in Liberia with the UN along with almost 4 thousand soldiers over 4 years and the side affects cover the entire scale.
DobermnsRock's chump ass can say whatever he'd like, but he didn't spend five hours in the ER getting pumped with Benadryl and the next few weeks confined to bed. It's no secret that people have Neurological side effects to Doxycyline as well. Sorry my experience bothers you so much; hope karma ain't too hard on you dirtbag.
My sympathies to all those who have taken this drug. I had a very similar experience with Doxycyline (Ironically the drug they recommend instead of Lariam) after taking it for only four days. It's been nearly two weeks and while my mental clarity has improved I'm still extremely fatigued. I just want my life back. Good luck to all, and thank you for this film.
I took Lariam while serving in the United States Marine Corps. We were forced to take it for 6 months. Since then my life has been nothing like it used to be. I get constant shadowing from my eyes if I turn my head too fast I see tracers. I feel drunk when I haven't drank. I can truly say that not refusing it was the dumbest thing I've ever done.
I am another lariam survivor. My life has never been the same since then. Thankfully -after 2 years- the side effects have almost dissapeared. From all things I have experienced LARIAM has been the worse nightmare. I am so thankful for you making a film about this. I will get in touch with you to purchase it.
i took lariam while serving in the peace corps, and had to leave early because of the serious, serious side effects. mefloquine was originally intended to TREAT malaria, not PREVENT it, so it's too strong a drug to be given out as a propholaxis. i have had a myriad of medical problems that all can be traced back to lariam. if you have another option (which most people do), DO NOT TAKE LARIAM!!! even if it is just a small percentage of people who have a bad reaction, it's not worth the risk
I'm currently researching this drug for a project and wondered whether, if you didn't mind, you could describe how you felt mentally and physically whilst taking it, how you actually felt, what you were thinking.
I understand what it is capable of, but just can't get around the idea without haven taken it myself.
If you choose to answer it will be extremely appreciated.
The shits for the 2 days after taking it, Vivid realistic dreams(you don't know whats real or not real), bad temper, weight loss, invasive thoughts, depression, anxiety, loss of balance and overall mental Chaos...

I've had a few psychological sideffects from LARIAM such as paranoia, slight depression, aggression and weird dreams.

Doxycycline is a broad spectrum antibiotic. I get tired of hearing you people talk about your problems with it. Its nothing...
