Although drafted by the Suns, he did not have a long NBA career. Toby was a phenomenal freshman player, 6-5 to 6-6, slasher type of a player with hops, I though he might have left after his freshman year, maybe should have but staying with UCLA with mediocre record after the national championship may have hurt his stock, Nevertheless, Toby will be legendary in how he played duiring that tournament especially how he played the final game. Toby, you're still my boy!!!
This could have been U-Conn's first title. If Edney doesn't make the shot against Mizzou in Round 2, U-Conn would have ended up in Seattle. They would have had to play Missouri or Missisippi St. in the regional final, and they would have beaten either one of those teams that year.
Also, Arkansas should have beaten Kentucky in the SEC Final, and been in their region. It should have been Arkansas, Kentucky, Okla. St, and U-Conn in the Final Four that year.
@sptrfn Shoulda, coulda, woulda, UCLA was ranked #1 that year and stayed that ranking all the way to the tournament. UCLA never lost a National Championship when they were ranked #1 going into the tournament. Yes, the second game was a wake-up call for the Bruins but after that they dominated the rest of the way, so please spare your sob story of who should have been in the Final Four. UCLA, the most NCAA National Chmapionship in Basketball and of all collegiate sports. GO BRUINS!!!!!!
This is an extremely shady title for UCLA. Harrick was crooked everywhere he coached. We only know part of what happened in Westwood. I pulled for UCLA in this game but 16 years later i kinda wish Arkansas won.
@TUowl05 Harrick got caught in the recruiting violation of Byron Davis, so Harrick left after the 1996-97 season, other that that no other forms of unethical actions by Harrick.
@NuvolariF1 He actually got FIRED after the 95 - 96 season for lying to the university. Steve Lavin coached the 96-97 team and got beat out by Minnesota in the elite eight that year . Harrick did get in trouble along with his son in 02 and 03 when he coached at Georgia . They had to vacate most of those games in that period and he hasn't coached since. So UCLA is very fortunate that # 11 is still hanging in the rafters.
hell no?the fab five were losers thats why they all left for the nba cause they didnt wanna be branded as the team who lost all 4 years.they lost 2 years in a row in the ncaa finals.i know they would have lost all 4 years had they stayed.
also ucla very nearly beat the fab 5 in 1993 in the 2nd round.they had the finals hot before overtime a simple layup that tyus edney missed.and ucla was up by 20 on the fab five in 1993.i have the game posted here on youtube.
@jayfey77 Michigan added some decent role players after Chris Webber left. If everybody stayed nobody was beating them. UNC could've easily have lost in 93' if a few plays went differently.
unc had no business even being in the final the only reason they made it was cause duke lost their center cherokee parks who got hurt and had no big man in the middle and it cost them against cal and duke still came back after being down by 20.duke would have beaten kansas then and then unc with their center had he not gotten hurt.and duke already proved that year they could beat michigan blowing them out at home.mich couldnt win with everybody for 2 years boy are u stupid.
no it wasnt cause of kidd u retard bobby hurley scored 38 in that game kidd had like 11 points u dumbass.,he schooled kidd.so why would they put hill on kidd u idiot.duke lost that game cause they lost their center u fool.boy are u stupid no wonder u like losers like michigan who lost every year they were together.
@jayfey77 I watched all the games you asshole, Kidd control the action beyond just points. You are more than dumb if you think a UCLA team with no good NBA players could beat a Junior or Senior FAB 5 Team (plus role players).
well ucla was doing it when the fab 5 were sophomores u retard.they were beating them by 18 points.mich came back but ucla still should have won it at the buzzer a missed layup cost them.and everyone who saw that game knows bobby hurley outplayed kidd hurley with 38 points to kidds 11 points proves that.only a dumbass like would think they needed to put hill on kidd when hurley was dominating him,boy are u stupid.
michigan would have never won anything had they stayed all 4 years those guys are losers.they lost in the nba too.they have never won anything they proved what losers they are time and time again.
Still the best college basketball team ive ever seen when it comes to quickness, rebounding, court speed.. Arkansas was a great team and Ucla just killed em.
These guys were my heroes. I was twelve years old when I was sponsored to go the UCLA basketball camp. I met alot of these players... It was a thrill when UCLA won the Nat Champ I was jumping and screaming!! One thing is for sure my boys will be going to UCLA Basketball Camps. Lets GO Bruins!!!
Jim Harrick is a worthless piece of slime. He has certainly shown his true colors. UCLA fans absolutely have plenty to be proud of in their rich basketball history, but Harrick is not worthy of it. Pure swine...
Great observation. Just a guy who played way above his head. But when the one game is a national championship, you will always be notarized. Harold Jensen, Michael Graham, Toby Bailey...always famous
UCLA is up by ELEVEN with 8 seconds left and everyone is waiting for the time to run out, and Charles O'bannon tries to run up the score with a dunk when no one is playin defense. That's somethin only a worthless unethical bum would do. Thats why he never had an NBA career.
He was saying that because Arkansas was behind to every team all damn tournament...Syracuse, Memphis and N. Carolina. Arkansas was the defending National Champions and they had 7 losses that season including 20 point losses (one to UMass and one to Miss St) so they struggled that whole season. They ended up losing the Championship game by 11, but there was a point in the game where Arkansas remained within two with 4-5 minutes left. UCLA broke away with a late run. Look it up
That guy messed everything up right before the buzzer...he killed the momentum.

@jayfey77 No , you are stupid . The reason Cal beat Duke was because of Jason Kidd, Duke couldn't put Hill on him because Murray was playing so well.
UCLA also got lucky against Missouri
