I met this guy at a drum clinic he gave in Columbus, OH all the way back in '87. I thought he was a decent player, and he even bothered to answer a couple of questions I had for him, but he also struck me as kind of arrogant and dismissive of other players that outclassed him.
I would like to find a digital copy of the flexible 45 he did for Modern Drummer magazine back then. It was called "Put Up or Shut Up."
@ErasmusBDraghin I recorded at his studio a few months ago. He was an arrogant prick and fucked us out of an extra $300 when we paid over $10,000 to record there.
I met Jonathan in the lobby of the Wiltern Theater at the first buddy Rich Memorial Concert...He was talking to Lissa Wales...very cool and relaxed...
@hitman3886 oh yea????? I got news for you....I came across the Ball/Shuffle technique in 1987..from my Techer..Dan Tomilson..whom in which was playing with Lyle Loveit at the time....I have praticed many years....oh yes my friend..I have watched Vinne do this many times..and Dennis Chambers...it's not that hard...you just have to pratice it..
Mangini ish ?. .I would say Colaiuta-ish.. All that hi-hat snare drum ghost note blending. I see what you're saying about Manigini-ish too though.. the tom/kick flutters..
Man, I even like his magazine! Phenomenal drummer!!
