Ariel atoms are nice fast cars, but nothing impressive it's a big racing go kart pretty much with fancy spoilers and wings. A full codies car outrunning a 600cc bike now thats cool and really impressive.

ok, I like the ariel atom, and is amazing, the acceleration to 0-60 mph less than 3. seconds so..that are a good numers, in the top gear chanel the atom beat at bike on a track, i think hayabusa have chances, but i love atom the lights are ugly; for me, but the sensations behind on the wheeldrive... so incredible!

@micar8 The Hayabusa is a heavy sports tourer, it is not a track bike. Sure it has power and aerodynamics to reach high speed but is too heavy to be competitive on track. It doesn't have the ground clearance for extreme lean angles and the brakes and tyres would cook after a few fast laps. The way you write about the Atom, it seems you have driven one. Have you? You wrote "but the sensations behind the wheeldrive" as though you have experienced the feeling behind the wheel.

@RC51RUGZ First of all, its obvious how little you know about bikes. A 600cc bike will outhandle (all day) a 1000cc bike... its called weight. You have the same tires, frame, and suspension but more weight with a 1000 cc bike. Even the 600cc bike easily outran (in a straight line) the atom... but in the first curve it walked away.

Second, its a BIKE for christ sake. Anything with two+ seats and storage (even if its almost nothing) beating a two wheeler is impressive.

@RC51RUGZ comparing 600cc and 1000cc bike, if they are the same style and frame of bike, (same brand, same model) the 1000cc bike will handle far far worse than the 600cc bike. On a small, tight handling course like topgear's, where there are no long straight streches, there is no comparasion.

Obviously a liter bike will destroy a small 600cc bike in a straight line race, as possibly a more open track as well. However, the atom will outhandle both on a small tight course. 4tires>2tires

You are right, the Atom wins. :) It was close, though: The S1000RR passed the Atom halfway through the race, and the Atom made it up in the bends near the end. 4 Contact Patches FTW.

@2pac198111 Most bikes won't exactly "smoke" an Ariel Atom v8. But if you test lap times with a pro driver in an Atom v8 and a pro rider on a 1000, the bike will put in at least an equal time. The BMW S1000RR for example, has an almost identical power to weight ratio to the Atom 500, and you can get a quick shifter as a factory option. That BMW WILL beat a stock Honda powered Atom by a healthy margin, though!

Does anyone know which supercharger is being used with this Ariel Atom? This one does have the Honda Civic Type R K20A engine correct?

I'm interested in buying a SC for my 2010 Civic SI with a K20z3 series engine. There are 3 kits available that I know of, the Comptech now called CT-E, JRSC and the Rotrex SC in a kit from Kraftwerks which isn't available yet for the Si but is available for the Civic Type R from TTS.

Probably the Rotrex from TTS.
