To me, the flute has a surprisingly good hollow-sounding tone. Not sure if they're actually made by Conn-Selmer. Also, the sound recording is pretty good quality as well, without having to buy a very expensive microphone. For improvisation, try to memorize all 12 major scales and at least all the major pentatonic scales that go with each.
@jazzflutist I've been playing flute for 4 months now and I figured out improvising on my own cause my teacher doesn't improvise and she teaches me classical music only. What I actually do is play the notes on the respective scale and they sound good to me.. If I play on a C Major scale, why can't I play F note and B note ?

@jazzflutist Hi Bruce, I'm glad you loved it. My flute is a Roy Benson FL-202E and the video was recorded using Canon Digital camera IXUS 100IS.
