  • I Absolutely LOVE this song! And I LOVE anything Stevie Nicks does but I do have to agree with many comments here... this version is the Best.. and the music here is Amazing. The Guitar is So Alive!

  • the 80s

  • Ich habe es gefunden nach knapp 7 Jahren :D Und nur wegen den Film "Straßen in Flammen" :D

Ich liebe es :) Danke fürs Hochladen :-*

  • AWesome video!! Hey, have you ever read the Fables comics? Looks so similar!

  • @Halpin2006 I've never heard of Fables comics... off to look them up >>>

  • @SilverWolfMoon thank you for the info would like to see this "street of Fire " and def. want to get the tarot card agree this is really a better version more passion and just different but awesome

  • @lilistarr767 The film is regarded as a 'cult classic', but personally I found it a let-down ~ it could have easily had another 30 minutes to really develop the plot.

  • This is the best version of this song by far. Her voice takes this song to new places and the accompanient is great! Love it!

  • Where in the world is Marilyn Martin now? Stevie Nicks is still kicking strong with a new album coming out in May and still touring solo and with Fleetwood Mac. The reigning Queen of Rock n ROll.

  • Even in backup, Stevie is amazing =)

  • amazing song....it is so rare that I think a cover version is better. But that is the case this time.

  • one of the best songs i heard in my life. speacially when i got over 30 i began to understand whats changing now. evervbody knows a song which changed his life. thats my song

  • The version that appears in the film is not this , it's performed by Laurie Sargent.

  • @dammedalucard If you read through all the comments, you would see that I already mentioned this a year ago:

The one in the actual film is sung by Laurie Sergeant, who sang lead on the two Fire Inc. songs 'Nowhere Fast' and 'Tonight Is What It Means to Be Young'.

This was done to maintain the continuity of the lead character's vocals.

  • @cskiathitis I'm sorry but your wrong. this version better than there(nicks/buckingham) version. the music rings beautifully. there's(even tho not studio) is kinda stale to me that is. and her solo version ok but not better.

  • @bigdfh1 I think the Bukingham Nicks version suffers because it's live, wasn't well recorded, and was still in its infancy {just like their version of 'Rhiannon'}. Stevie's solo version suffers because Sheryl Crow had too much involvement in it...

  • I love this version best. I'm not a fan of eighties music, but the simple piano chords and drums create a really nice, dramatic feel. Stevie's own finished version has too much singer-songwritery blandness (I mean, god, it even has sheryl crow), and I think the arrangement here really brings out the intensity of the melody. Stevie puts in just the right amount of backup, too, and pulls it off wonderfully. I do also enjoy the buckingham nicks demo too.

  • Stevie the great white which with great voice ,,and beauty ,,

  • Magnifique chanson

  • God, the piano accompniment is excellent, for those of you who know your 1/16th &

32nd notes. Anyone ever notice how Stevie always uses alot of her songs in Am & F.

This version isn't in Am though, but I'm still pickin it out on my Yamaha DGX 210

  • @Watchdevil01 I believe the pianist *might* have been Roy Bittan. He played on a couple of Stevie's early solo albums and tours, and on the two songs by Fire Inc on the "Streets of Fire" soundtrack. But I don't know for certain...

  • @Watchdevil01 aCtually I don't hear many 16th or 32nd notes at all in the piano. I hear basic 8th notes (with a few turns and grace notes) and basic chording which is VERY reminiscent of Bittan. I am not aware of many songs of hers that are written in Am, but I don't have her entire collection. And of course, the sheet music that is for sale may not be transcribed in the same key that she sang in. Most are in G, C or A according to the music I have. She writes in keys she can sing comfortably.

  • @Watchdevil01

The guitar riff at 2:29 is definitely the heart of the piece.

  • I had to wait 26 years to find out that I was right about Stevie Nicks being a background voice.

  • Love it

  • I wish Stevie had recorded it llike this in the 80's, don't like the modern sounding version much.

  • I also think this is the best and most emotional version of the song, Marilyn Martin's voice is amazing. Watch "Night moves", another great song!

  • its taken me it took me 25 years to find this I loved that movie when i was a kid. but this song is so me and childhood thanks to stevie I saw her sing it live and refused to sit and the pointed and stopped at me it was like time stood still.

  • This is an awesome cover! I'm a die-hard Stevie fan, since I was 7 years old, grew up w/her music. My parents were huge Mac fans. She was my inspiration to get off the crap.

  • @Chrliesangelman - I kid you not angel..."never what you see" / "Lady from the mountains, lady from the mountains, lady from the...Mounnnn -tainss" are all Stevie in her raspy glory.

If I remember correctly, Jimmy Iovine had this cut, which was leftover from one of his producing projects w/ Stevie.

Stevie sounds so cool and bewitching on this track. I love it.

  • @scruffy90028: I misuderstood, I thought you didn't know it was Stevie. Yes it is awesome! I like this version a lot. I do like Stevie's better though, well, um, because, uh, just, BECAUSE IT IS STEVIE! Ha ha ha ha

  • This lady didn't do a bad job, I don't think. But I mean, it IS Stevie's song....... Touble in Shangri-La is my favorite version.

  • Incrível!!!

  • Love to hear others sing Stevie's songs It shows the power of the words and even better with Stevies voice cut into this..Man On A Star Stream show me the high life!!!!

  • Nice pure warm voice ,,,and the music is great ,,good version

  • I love stevie nicks vocal , and stevie nicks on backing vocal this band ... ending song she is solo vocal

    and this song pure ...

  • ✮✮✮✮✮✮✮✮✮✮✮ ~ ♥♥♥♥♥ ~ Ave Blessed Be

  • I think this is the best version of this song. It's got power and passion and a sweet ferocity to it.

  • I agree, there is a slight difference between the actual movie version and the soundtrack, yet, this is one of my favorite 80's songs, and one of my favorite rock musicals!

  • Ohhh...Marilyn Martin! For years this was the only version I had and LOVED IT!!! The actual "movie" version was cool too (as I noticed the difference on a rental). That version (w/ Sargent) was just as exciting - so I recorded it off the TV. Still, I can't see Stevie "topping" the background vocals she did on the record/cd version.

    So...despite the re-recorded version on "Shangra-La" - the

Marilyn Martin version is my all time favorite.

  • @scruffy90028: ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? THAT IS STEVIE SINGING BACKGROUND IN MARILYN'S VERSION!!!!

  • I like the vocals better on the Fire, Inc. version from the movie.

  • Well, as you say, that's *your* opinion.

Personaly, I think this a rather good cover, and one which Stevie obviously approved of, and it sits well beside the live Buckingham Nicks version {they never got to do a studio release}, and Stevie's 2001 solo version.

  • @SilverWolfMoon: GOOD POST! I agree totally. I personally like Stevie 2001 solo version better, but I REALLY REALLY like this version too! It isn't bad at all. It is quite good.....

  • LOL...sorry to burst your bubble...but...this version is AWESOME! Stevie would even agree with that!

  • @cskiathitis: I think Stevie's solo version is the best (featuring: Sheryl Crow).

  • @cskiathitis and your point is ? I dont mean to sound rude but everyone's entitled to their opinion and you may not like it; that's fine. But if you can do better please do; I would like to hear it .

Peronally I think it is a very good cover.

  • @cskiathitis PS STEVIE NICKS did the back up vocals

  • Something misterious and beautiful in this music... something remember me the pagan mithology... excelent and intense!!!!

  • I just found this song on here, now I finally realize where it came from, all these years I have loved this song from SOF, and I was very sure I heard Stevie singing in the background. Stevie and her ex-husband Lindsay Buckingham wrote this in 1973 before they joined Fleetwood Mac, great song, and I love the different versions, I do prefer the version sung by Fire Inc., it was a little slower in the movie version!

    Mc

  • Stevie and Lindsey were never married.

Stevie wrote 'Sorcerer' whilst they were touring as Buckingham Nicks, and they performed it as part of their live set.

  • I am sorry, I stand corrected, I forgot they never married!

  • Sorry but this musical version is disappointing..the way it sounds in the movie / DVD is much better. Slower, more sultry, deeper. SilverWolfMoon did a GREAT job with The pics in this though.

  • That's because the one in the actual film is sung by Laurie Sergeant, who sang lead on the two Fire Inc. songs 'Nowhere Fast' and 'Tonight Is What It Means to Be Young'.

Personally, I don't think Laurie sang 'Sorcerer' as well as Marilyn did ~ it sounded too flat and insipid for me. But, each to their own...

Thank you for the compliment on the video :)

  • i agree with you SilverWolfMoon...Marilyn did a much better job!

  • Great video Silver, now I don't mean to burst your bubble, Marilyn only sang this song on the SOF Soundtrack.

  • Yes, I know that Marilyn only sang it on the soundtrack album. For whatever reason, they got Laurie Sergeant to sing it in the actual film ~ probably so that the character's vocals would sound the same.

  • I will have to re-watch the DVD then, must have missed that part. I will return once I get a chance to do so. Still think your vid is great.

  • The one in the film isn't a full stage performance ~ it's a music video being shown on a TV, whilst the song is played over the film...

  • I just looked over and seen the link for the scene. I will listen more attentively later.

  • Oh this took my breathe away! Blessed be!

  • ~Reverence & Respect Unto You~

~Et Sanctus Este In Et Profanum~

~The Sacred Is In The Profane~

  • Love this song sung by Marilyn Martin written by Miss Nicks herself. Beautiful art work.

  • Back in 1984 when this song first came out, there was what might be called an 'Adult Album Alternative' station (WGRX) out of suburban Baltimore which would play this song regularly. When they went classic rock two years later, alot of the unique music they played never was to be heard on the air again including this song. It's good to hear it again! Thanks for posting!

  • I luv this song......

  • Great song!

  • SilverWolfMan, I think you are mistaken in stating Stevie as backup singer. If you look at the credits from the original LP, it states Lori Petty (one of Stevie's backup singers) as the backup singer on this version. She does sound a lot like Stevie so I imagine that's why she is a backup singer, but in '84, I think Stevie's voice was getting pretty well trashed by this time.

  • Well, it definately sounds just like Stevie, epecially if you compare it to her backing vocals on the more recent Sheryl Crow song 'You're Not the One' {which Stevie wrote the lyrics to}, and even on various Fleetwood Mac songs.

Her voice didn't really go until 1987...

And it's SilverWolf MOON my dear ~ I'm FEMALE!

  • Well, I'm looking at the LP sleeve with the liner notes of Streets of Fire, A Rock and Roll Fable (I'm an oldster, I have the original VINYL ALBUM) and I see Stevie Nicks credited for music and lyrics and Lori Petty and Sharon Celani credited with background vocals. By the way, I believe Stevie's voice went downhill as far back as 1979's Tusk w/Fleetwood Mac. Angel and Storms I would cite as two examples of her overstressed, vocal-nodulized voice.

  • If only the vinyl were still available.

I'm afraid I had to make do with the CD, which omited the liner notes.

You may feel Stevie's voice lost it's edge back in 1979, but many of us would disagree, and say it hung on until the early-mid 1980's...

  • Also, I do believe you mean Lori PeRRy {later Lori Perry-Nicks}.

  • wish there was a live video of Marilyn Martin singing this...she is fantastic!

  • 2:48 That's my house! =p Pretty cool song, nice pictures.

  • You have good taste

  • Thank you.

  • Another great song from a GREAT soundtrack and film.

  • I love this version, been looking for it for a long time on youtube. Thank you !

  • Oh man!! I love this version.

I was working on a video for this song to post here, 'cause I got the soundtrack recently from a friend of mine, and there was only Stevie's and the movie's version on youtube.

    Beautiful work!!

Im still doing my version with some images from SOF ;)

  • I love this version - FYI - Marilyn Martin was Stevie's back up singer during the "Rock A Little" years but declined to tour because her career was begining to take off

  • I like this version a lot.

  • I love the version by stevie nicks and sherryl crow, much more of a cold mountain feel, in my mind anyway.

  • Whoa, I've NEVER heard this before! Look what I've been missing!

    Nice post...

  • Very nice and Feminine

  • I like this a lot. She sings it very well, but I still like the TISL version better! I think it fits more with the song, and because stevie sings...which makes it have more feeling! But she does a great job...very fantasy type of feeling.

  • Good movie, and a good song. Nice imagery.

  • love your video! i really love this song!

  • Great song!

Very under-rated and lost for a long time, thanks for posting :)

  • Just love the pictures that you show on this video. Thanks for posting this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thank you :)

I spent a long time choosing images that I felt to be suited to the song.

  • Thanks for posting

  • es una de las mejores canciones que he esscuchado me encanta la musica la letra no la entiendo alguien podria traducirmela por favor gracias

  • This has always been my favorite version of this song, I never understood why Stevie didn't just sing lead? I was hoping TISL version was going to be recorded to sound just like this, much more rocking & soulful performance indeed. TISL version is kinda disappointing compared to this. Thanks so much for posting, sure some fans may have never have heard this. Blue Lamp, Violet & Blue her some of my personal favorites!!!!!!!!!

  • i've loved this song for year's! this was when stevie's songwriting was at it's best! the vocal's are great! marilyn's vocal's are EXCELLENT!!

  • Thanks for posting. Thanks you, thank you!!!!!!!

  • Love this song. It reminds me of someone very special to me whom is no longer with us. I miss you.

  • Nice. Didn't know this song. Thanks for posting!

  • This is a beautiful version.

It's different enough from Stevie's to stand-out, whilst also doing great credit to the original. And I really like Stevie's backing singing - it really adds depth.

Thank you for posting this :)

  • Had never heard this version..I like it!! Thanks for posting!!

  • Thank you kind sir!
