  • Good choice! Condiments are BIG. I once made my own BBQ sauce but I had to start with sugarless ketchup. It was a lengthy process but it was worth it. Good luck and I'll keep watching.

  • I give you five stars and I will subscribe. Thank you for making everyone aware of this Corn Syrup epidemic. I have been avoiding it for about 2 years now. I get migraines from that and HFCS and MSG. I'm not sure if you've made a video on the hidden names of HFCS. Many companies are aware that people are starting to avoid it and are getting sneaky. You have to read labels so carefully now

  • Thanks for watching. I will be doing more videos on corn syrup in our processed foods. There's just so much out there that it's hard to know where to begin... but I think the next video will be on condiments!

  • I knew it was in alot of things, I've been paying attention after watching oprah, but I didn't know it was in stuffing! learn something everyday!

  • I will be profiling different products each week, and there will be surprises each week about where it has sneaked into the food chain!

  • I love watching your videos, specially about baking. Your new serie is great! I hope you know that you got lots of viewers, I'm from sweden so you are kind of worldwide celebretie..! Keep on the food job and I wish you the best!

  • Oh, I don't have many subscribers compared to most... I'm climbing the ladder very slowly. But you should also check out my other Youtube channel - signaturesweetshoppe.

  • My 11 yr old nephew is just had a burst appendix and the doctors discover he was diabetic. He is not overweight at all. So what you are saying is a revelation to me. Fresh bread stuffing would make for a superior product I'm sure.

  • Perhaps, as long as it isn't white bread, which contains corn syrup.

  • My dad used to make the stuffing every year--we put stale bread in a brown bag and let it dry. When the time came , we just crumbled it up and made dressing--sometimes breaking fresh bread up with our hands if we needed a bit more.

  • Well, that would certainly be healthier than purchasing pre-prepared mixes.

  • Wanted to just say hi I'm trying to check in more with my subscribers now I have a little extra time. Why are you eliminating corn syrup is it a health thing? I don't think we had any bread in the stuffing recipe we used for the goose at Christmas. Cheers, Lesley

  • Well, it's an additive that is synthetic, and as I'm studying more about nutrition and sugars, I've decided to eliminate that one from my foods. I definitely don't use it in my baking.

  • Ah, it's just the vids linked with yours were all about diabetes and that sort of thing! Like you say, our bodies aren't too good with things that don't occur in nature. L

  • Corn syrup actually is linked to the diabetes epidemic and to the obesity epidemic. Of children born since the year 2000, it is estimated 1 in 3 will develop diabetes. It's time to get corn syrup out of the food chain, but corn is about as big a business as oil.

  • I wonder what it's hidden as here in the UK, I don't see corn syrup in our ingredients but maybe we use something else or 'name' it something else. L

  • I make my stuffing with cubed bread but I don't "dry" it out.. I just cube the bread, then add all my seasonings - onion, celery, poultry seasoning, s & p, and then stuff it in the bird! LOL Oh, I add a few pats of butter with it in the bird too. So why go to the trouble of drying it? Good luck eliminating corn syrup..

  • More episodes to follow...

  • Interesting, I wonder how long you'll be able to store them in the zip loc baggies?

    Joanie

  • I double bagged them. Since all the moisture was baked out, I would assume they could survive for months.

  • Please let us know how you season this for stuffing..

  • When I get to that point, I'll make a video, but right now I just have it stashed away.

  • Once you start looking; seems like *everything* has corn syrup! Salad dressings are also a big culprit.

Can I have that top bread piece that you discarded? I would like to dip it in olive oil, cracked pepper and seasonings! Yummie!

  • Oh, I didn't discard the top... I just set it aside for cutting later.

  • Wow a great idear...Sharon!

  • I will post a new episode in a couple of weeks!

  • This was interesting.I didn't know this.I just bought a turkey today.:)

  • Well, just make some stuffing from scratch!

  • Great idea...

I believe it..sugar products are in everything..I am eating sprouted, flourless, no corn syrup breads now too...as we get older more things have to go..

    Your stuffing idea is great....question?

I wonder if you also brush on eggwhite to give em that brown toastie look, would that worK also? thanks for the motivation.

  • Oh, I could have just toasted them longer in the oven, but it really wasn't important to me for a toasty look - just wanted them to be throughly toasted.

  • I'm finally back to somewhat normal..and viewing my favorite video's as often as I can. YOU always have such insight on things..and are sooooo appreciated. Hugs to you...Yummmm looking bread!!

  • You think I have insight? I don't know. Sometimes I'm just rambling... searching for something interesting for my channel.

  • good idea Miss Truly! (both the bread cubes and the cornsyrup elimination)....you've given me an idea for using up my leftover bread crusts and such - from the breadmaker bread. I've had a hard time finding plain fine ground bread crumbs here (they only have some strange ones that look like they are fried and are a strange color orange!!) Thanks!

PS the bread cubes are great idea also to have on hand for making meatloaf and such!

    xox

  • Just bake the cubes at 300 for about 20-25 minutes, until thoroughly crisp, and then store in an air-tight container. Always ready to go for whatever!

  • I use a recipe that came from my Mom for stuffing. It has onion, celery, gr. beef, sausage, spices, bread slices soaked in milk and the milk squeezed out all mixed together. You can stuff the bird and bake the leftover separate. I am going to see if the white bread has any corn syrup in it.

  • Some commercial breads do contain corn syrup, but your recipe sounds yummy. Then again, I love stuffing.

  • I like stuffing too. I will eat stuffing more that I would eat the turkey or chicken. That stuffing recipe comes from my mother's side of the family. I think it is french canadian in origin.

  • I agree about preferring the stuffing over the rest... Nothing beats great stuffing.

  • Yep, I know! Like, what the heck is it doing in there...????
