UK Poverty - rising food prices

The uk is rich enough to stop this. It is down to choices though. War, more political interference and massive multi billion pound public civil engineering projects are what our leaders tell us we need. In truth their friends get most of the money from consultations and contracts etc. The system is rigged to make them richer by taking your money.

Get rid of all that. Get rid of vat and the country will be recovering within a year. It will be a massive recovery!!

@otheracco sending money to starving Africans is despicable when the poor in the UK aren't starving? The Africans might be further away but their problem is much worse and besides we contribute to the poor in the UK by paying taxes. I'd be happy to help out a low income family in the UK but the real solution isn't charity, its creating jobs for them with a high enough minimum wage and giving every kid a chance to reach their potential through the education system.

im on a fairly decent wage yet food is a joke my coffee is 8 quid alone i spend hundreds with only 4 bags of shoppin to show for it ,its hard cos i remmeber it only costing me 25 quid but now for the same things it costs a bomb i have to cut down on fruit i feel like a poor person heh

I think you need to do some research before commenting! Many reports have shown that 'health foods' such as fresh fruit are far more expensive than junk foods such as crisps. Lobstein (1995) found that the price for healthy food is more expensive in poorer areas than more affluent areas. - If for example 5 apples costs £1 or 20 packets of crisps cost £1 then obviously these people will choose crisps and make their money go further!

I suggest you reconsider your argument!

buy vaule packs, use raw ingedents, and buy bulk items, if u buy damged or open suff like damged tin of beans u get them for a whole lot cheaper also dont buy ready made meals

Why is the UK being portrayed as some third world country? Yes, food has gone up, but bargains can still be had, buy own branded goods rather than the "big" brands and you save a fortune. Switch phone and electric companies and make more savings, honestly!

Its a bit of a stupid solution that if they were jobs available many would do that. But Britains screwed us all over i mean every year prices rise and they claim that our wage rises up the same amount but yet for some reason the prices increased always seem to outweigh how much money you get.

All those Brits have their own teeth...no false teeth in the lot of them. I am so glad there is denatal care in England. We don't have dental care for all people here in USA,America. I wish the Brits would feed their people better..Hunger is a world wide problem
