What a talent Moin Akhtar was, May his soul rest in peace, AAMEEN.
Seeing few of the most talented people of PTV really is a pleasure but brings about sadness as well. Those were great times, weren't they ? If peace could be brought back at the cost of advancement in technology and a luxurious life, I am sure almost all of us would be willing to give up on them. Simple times, great times.
@asfed2 Indeed and look at our TV today, competing without our real strength of decency. One wonders if our state-TV could beat other foreign channels in 70s,80s and for some part of 90s, what's missing now ? They have the technology and talent, yet they are adopting others' inappropriate style.
@KamranPakistan47 whats missing?, similar to what you said, we no longer look to our litrary forfathers for inspiration, the works of Rumi and Ghalib are of no consequence anymore and the obscenity of bollywood and also later Lollywood films have pervaded our minds. Not to be overly dramatic but this lack of depth signals the general deterioation of Pakistani society, perhaps..
@asfed2 Spot-on. We are but unaware of the power the media holds. This so-called commercialization has landed the whole nation into a big trouble, sadly I cannot see a point of return in at least the next 5 years or so, how discouraging. Old dramas were reminiscent of our cultural purity and national pride depicted in pellucid enough fashion to be grasped by all and sundry unlike what's being shown these days, meaningless and insane plots. Hope to see history repeat itself in this regard.
@KamranPakistan47 very well put, my father once said that the" vices of maghrib have become our religion" unfortunately it seems to be so. Perhaps past cultural purity is an unattainable ideal but i dare to hope that there will be some respite from the mind numbing drivel broadcasted nowadays.. i suppose the only way is to continue challenging it, atleast within our own circle of acquantances, at the expense of being avoided by them of course.
@asfed2 Could not agree more with your respectable father's adorable comments and you have really given my confidence a stupendous boost today. To be upright, I have been challenging it for years now and of course would continue doing it, INSHALLAH, but the problem is I have found it really hard to create a potent stir among my peers as of yet. People just don't wanna listen to you, they like to hear fabricated gossips, I mean what's wrong with embracing your charming and bewitching culture ?

@KamranPakistan47 agreed and how elequently and intelligently they spoke yet so humourous, no reliance on vile jokes or anything like that.
