Those cameras are bullshit. I'm a highway cop and when we tried out the new laser radar guns we clocked fence post and corn stalks at 70 mph. We found the best use for them was to put a trooper in the median with one and having him pointing it at on coming traffic without even having it turned on. It slows people down and it sticks in their head how they "got lucky" when they were speeding and didn't get caught.

Being he's also elected means he's less likely to be corrupt as like an appointed position *Cough* Obama's Entire Cabinet full of CFR and Bilderbergs *Cough*. That said, the county Sheriff is the highest law of the land, they even have higher authority than the FEDS if they so choose to exercise that right. They can also deputize any CCW holder immediately to battle corrupt FEDS/Military. As an elected Law Enforcement officer it's the safety net communities have against Federalized Corruption.

Typically when a politician stands up against a corporation... that corporations next move will be to try replace this mayor... by supporting a pro speed camera mayor in the next election. They will invest by giving money to him to use on winning the election. The investment will then be paid back 10000x when the Redflex cameras are installed.

The first and last were meant to be sarcastic, the rest was quite serious.
Every law, regulation or policy which has no base in the US Constitution or even contradicts it, is lumped onto the Social Security Trust laws. The idea being if you choose to participate in this trust fund the executors of the trust, Federal Gov't, are authorized to make additional legal impacts on your life. Also in this line of thinking is the 'choice' one made to participate in the punishments.

SlackerSlayer, the reason you can be arrested or fined for not complying to the stuff you listed is your own fault. By participating in Social Security, you vest this kind of authority in the government. Now, you do know SocSec is a 100% voluntary program, right? You can opt out at any time and these regulations would, technically, no longer apply to you. Or did the government fail to pass that along, like the thousands and thousands of coded federal regulations?

It's days in Pinal County aren't done. He may have cancelled the contract but he needed to get the approval of the Board of Supervisors first. Which he didn't and now because they want it back the photo radar vans will be back.
