In fact, she only started having feelings for him once he started actually being KIND to her (she still hated him during the time he trapped and was rude to her- she did NOT tolerate it). She wasn't interested in Gaston because he was PRETENTIOUS and SEXIST- not because it wasn't a "challenge". The Beast didn't like Belle just because she was beautiful- he learned to appreciate her kind, gentle personality.

Search "Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty: Developing a Course on Disney and Fairytale Movies" And this isn't "Classic Disney" this is "Disney Renaissance" which started in the late 80s and ended mid 90s. Classic Disney was Cinderella, Snow White, and Sleeping Beauty(The Walt era) And even Cinderella was about a woman who was willing to dream, and wasn't afraid to think things no one approved of. Walt even said Cinderella didn't sit at home, she made her dream come true.
