I had a similar wreck (~50mph) and luckily I was wearing my DH helmet. The thing is completely smashed in the back and I'm certain that if I didn't have it on, I'd look like this guy. Google "Broken Skull, Broken Heart", that should give you a bit of an incentive to wear your helmet even skating to the store.

first person experience. i fell the other day and hit my head in a parking garage without a helmet on. stupid decision i know and i will never do it again without a helmet on. i am lucky to be alive. boarding without a helmet is the biggest mistake a boarder can make. trust me. you might think you look like a loser with a helmet on, but the only loser is the person who dies without wearing a helmet. better safe than sorry. take it from a knowledgeable source.

I was bombing a ramp with my Landy. 36 drop thru with sidewwinders, wobbled when I was like over 15 (I dunno but I was feeling the rush) & scrapped. IM actually a survivor of a very horrable long board accident. at 20-30 mph i smashed my face head first against the ground and was rushed to the emergency room on an ambulence and they saved my life before i died.
