  • The zr1 has every potential to out right smoke the shit outa a bugatti, I mean to make it a little more fair you can put quad turbo charger on the zr1, and yet the bugatti would still have the v16 advantage but a zr1 with quad turbo would put it around number 1

  • @xXtexasgolferXx But what if you want a road coarse. We only have a select few American cars that stock can hang with a euro or some JDM. You have to admit that once a turn comes in play, domestic cars are not the greatest. All the power only helps if the straights are long enough. I personally love a good track car regardless of the make. Other than a ZR1 or an ACR there aren't many american options though.

  • As far as European or any other car built somewhere out of the U.S., give me a Lamborghini Reventon, anytime. At $1,600,000 in price, I could sell it and have a yard full of Corvettes. I'd prefer a Corvette over a Lambo or Ferarri or any other car you can name. I've had 3 Corvettes (a '68 and 2 '69s) and prefer them over anything else. I've been on this earth over a half of a century and won't be changing my mind.

  • @xXtexasgolferXx Buuuutt they are much better everywhere else when you need to drive on the track. I admit how much I love american muscle. But most euro cars handle everything else much better. Just remember the veyron is european and that shelby thing going 257mph was beaten by a tuned veyron. And I know someone with a british drag car that has a jet engine that can accelerate to 200mph in a second.

  • @F1NNAZ an american nhra top fuel dragster can accelerate to 100 mph in .25 thats one quarter! of a second, the current corvette zr1 is as fast or faster [in a straight line or in the curves] then all but the outragously priced bugatti veyron and a hennesey modified ford gt is faster then the veyron and costs more then half what the veyron does, those are all facts not opinions, us cars ftw

  • i have a 68 barracuda with a 383 hemi bored out with over sized pistons and cam that will put that vette out to pasture were it should be dropping cow dung down to make the grass grow gorgeous car but its know match for a hemi chrysler in the sixties made the best engine in the world

  • When I was 28 I had a 71 and evrytime I drove it I would hit at least 100 mph somewhere. I had to sell it or end up in jail or a hospital. The temptation to floor it was too much for me. 4 speed cars are hard to baby you know.

  • i always wondered why the L-88 had less power, but costed twice as much as the L89, then i found out that chevy was required to rate all engines at 4600rpm. at that speed, the L-88 made 430hp, and the L-89 made 435, but at 6500rpm the L-88 had 600HP! the motor is a beast! it was a commercialy available race car, too bad cars today dont sound like that, or have that kind of performance.

  • If you want the TRUE old-school sound, get a set of chambered exhaust. That's why the cars that have regular mufflers and glass-packs sound nothing like the old muscle cars in the 60's. The chambered tubes are as loud as they are ever going to get, right out of the box. No packing to burn out. No annoying pop, crack, or rattle to deal with either. Just my .02.

  • Cool car! That's my fav year of vettes. It doesn't matter to me if you can hear the pulley of the alternator a bit, its still a cool vette. And besides, the cameraman is at the front of the car, so you'd probably hear it anyway.

    I'm not trying to insult, but when you have a '69 Vette with a 4 speed and a 350, you should not be able to hear the pulley whine of the alternator over the exhaust note. Throw on some high flow cats, and Dynomax bullets, then it will sound like a real car.

    Once again, I'm not trying to insult, I love C2-C3 Vettes.

    I agree with what you said about Flowmaster, but have you ever checked out Dynomax's? Their Ultra Flo series mufflers will flow 2,000 SCFM, and support 1,900-2,000 Horsepower. Dynomax has been one of the absolute best mufflers available for years. I do like Cherrybombs, though.

    When I ever put mufflers back on my Camaro, I'll be running Dynomax bullets, or the Ultra Flo's. I love the sound of them, and you can't beat the flow.

  • a trim style on the mustang fastback for that year, I think it was a dealer specific package, nothing too amazing. rims, exhaust, front spoiler, some nice badges, and a wierd intake manifold.

  • The Cobra Jet was a 428 CI engine option on the Mustang, when ordered properly with the Drag Pack, it triggered what they called the Super Cobra Jet, which was an even stronger 428. The option was available from 1968-1970. It was very amazing. Especially when ordered in the base looking Mustang. They could run in the 12's

  • Those 'stangs always were slower than the Vettes, even the GT500's, but they were 4 seaters and never were and still are on quite the same level, but pretty close. That's why Carrol Shelby put out the cobras :(

  • Nice to see another 1969 getting rebuilt. I got a 1969 Stingray like yourself but its a 427 with a bunch of work done and its a TH400 auto. And for all those saying that's not a BB hood, its exactly like my original 427 hood in my shed ( upgraded to the L88 long hood to accommodate carbs).

  • '69 was the first year for the 350 cid. Only other engine option was the 427 cid. No 283 since 1961. Heres a quick breakdown: Small blocks: '54-'56 265 cid '57-'61 283 cid '62-'68 327 cid '69-'04 350 cid (actually the LS1 [in the C5s] was more of a 346, but they called it a 350) '05- present 364 cid '06- presnet 427 cid (Z06 only) Big Block history: '65- 396 cid (1 year only) '66-'69 427 cid '70-'74 454 cid
