It's called peer block now. Peer guardian has never worked properly.

PG2 won't actually block people like the RIAA, Warner Bros, etc. when you're downloading torrents. You have to get an encrypted VPN to actually be hidden. PG2 would only hide you if you were wanting to block someone from inside your network. I used to run PG2 all the time, and still got a couple letters from my ISP about downloading torrents.

this is more about blocking 3rd party organizations from collecting data on you, but uh if you just make sure you keep unneeded ports closed and monitor the ones you keep open you will never have to worry about a hacker

*****************VERY IMPORTANT******************* if you have vista make a vid on how to use it on vista....... you need to disable windows defender. disable uac and start task manager before you start peer guardian. also disable peer guardian before you close it, it will start disabled and simply enable it when you open it. one more thing you cant have utorrent open when you use it dont know about azureus

Then Go C program Files then find peerguardian 2 then delete all files in the folder..

Reinstall should work..

My internet is suddenlink . And I think they are messing with my downloads I think people call that throttling not sure . I even encrypt my utorrent enabled then latter forced. it will work maybe 10 minutes than it becomes un encrypted and my download speeds go way way down. what should I do any ideas .

Look into port forwarding, that will help with a lot of the bandwith throttling they do on common P2P ports.

It turned out to be utorrent I was using an old version . And never did update to a newer one forever. It would cause encryption to fail . once I updated to the newer one it worked normal again

Technically, it is illegal for your isp to look at what you download. But if someone has mentioned you as a bigtime uploader on a private tracker or something like that, you can be targeted. They cannot see what you are downloading, without a warrent from fbi or some shit. :P And why would they care about a single leeching person? They have thousands of customers. The isp respects your privacy and you as a customer, they need the money.

You could man... I have been caughttwice but they just warned me. They asked me did I know it was illegal and my dumb ass said "yes". They just told me to delete the movies and not to do it again. yeah.. but it all just depends man. just switch your isp provider if thats the case ;) ive never gotten a warning or anything before. Also, it may be helpful to set your ip address to a dynamic one so its harder for them to catch you. everytime you restart your computer, your ip address changes. id try messing around with that. Personally, i usually use my laptop when im at home, and i have configured my own ip address.

A firewall blocks inbound and outbound traffic. In order for file sharing/bit torrent to work you must give it permission through your firewall. Once you've done that you're firewall no longer blocks the IP's of RIAA etc through that file sharing program. Peer Guardian is sorta like an inbound only firewall set to block only specific IP addresses like the one's mentioned in the video.

maybe copyrights do stifle creativity, but they also prevent people from stealing other people's work and calling it their creativity. If you were the original artist you would be pretty pissed about that after the effort you put in to create it, and then someone takes it just like that. If you want to use work by the copyright holder within your own work you can ask them, sometimes they don't even charge as long as long as you give them credit for their work.

If you don't know much about internet securtiy, then fooling with programs like these is not wise. If you're unsure, Google the name of the suspicious program you're thinking about blocking and if you get nay results saying that it's a virus, then block the damned thing!

grrrr, I downloaded peerguardian last night and this morning I booted my computer up and got a blue screen and an error message came up. I think it was a corrupted program. I've deleted the program and hoping that no viruses were attached. Went to the parent site of peerless and it says there are some websites that are attaching viruses on it. Be careful everyone.

you probably downloaded a fake version.. which was made with the intension to damage your pc... make sure you download from the official site, and be aware to scan it before using! Peerguardian2 shouldnt have any virusses bound to it if you just pick the right version, so plz dont try to scare people from getting it.
