Michael Collins himself signed the agreement to partition Ireland. @thewalls111 Northern Ireland exists through joint agreement. It was created after the Treaty Negotiations of 1921 bwteen Lloyd George and De Valera's Irish Parliment. Michael Collins himself signed the agreement to partition Ireland. It was generally agreed at the time that this was the most sensible solution - a Catholic Irish ruled from Rome and a Protestant Ulster ruled by a Home Rule Parliment with Westminster taking care of the bigger issues (defence etc)

The Celtic Cross has even been traced back to the Nordics in particular the Vikings. The Vikings invaded parts of Ireland!

Ireland as a whole both the north and south is predominantly catholic but in the north there is only roughly 40 % this makes any vote regarding the North of Irelands political status unfair. I'm American and proud of my heritage. However I do not condone what several of my ancestors did in wiping out several villages in the Pequot War, but WE never did anything to the Native Americans. The Spanish did more damage than Americans ever did and most of that was through disease. So whatever was left to fight the colonists was but a small fraction of their former strength. Blame the Spanish. As for the British they should just get out of Ireland,itwould save them a lot of time and effort.
