  • at about :53 one of the back up singers does the wrong vocal line. or it is correct and they are really good at symbolism within their harmonies. actually you know what, its probably that.

  • @henry12350 steven wilson sing a wrong line thats true

  • chris' background vocals will be missed....

  • @RageBass92 You make it sound like he died.

  • steven wilson - like john lennon, but talented

    trololol

  • what's the name of the next song the were going to play towards the end?

  • anyone else notice thier bassist plays a left handed bass with the strings on backwards? its G-D-A-E rather than E-A-D-G

  • @henry12350 As a kid I always wondered why it isn't this way, seemed to me that it was only logical that it should go that way, low notes on bottom, high on top. Sheet music is written this way, why not strings?

  • @psychonavigator its always been that way though, on everything from violins to guitars. the only thing thats not like that are ukuleles lol

  • @henry12350 Yeah. I hadn't really paid any attention to the fact that the bassist was left handed until I thought about Hendrix being a lefty and him having learned to play on a right handed strung guitar, so I'm assuning it was just the same situation for this guy.

  • I freakin love maitland

    such a great drummer

  • Steven forgetting a line of a Blackfield song? Not possible, surely...

  • Maitland!|!

  • YES!!!!! really good

  • Wow!

  • Steven Wilson's guitar ist not only good to play with.. also a good crotch protection :P hangs really low :P

  • cool song! love the ending guitars

  • #0:51 the third voice is wrong

  • @inbass666 just shows that even the backing vocals are live.. good job

  • @NeedHeadMusic yeah, is true n_n

  • John - Lennon - Look wtf

  • MAITLAND!!!

  • why is Maitland in the new PT video piano lesson?

  • @GigiPeluzza cause it's like 10 years old? :P

  • @GigiPeluzza thats not new. piano lessons is from the stupid dream album which is from 2000 or 2001 i believe.

  • Hey, what is Wilson using at 2:25?

  • @Immasteri He is using a Guitar Slide :)

  • @dlkrdlkr Oh :P got confused because he had it in his right hand :)

    Anyway, awesome song!

  • @Immasteri Yeah ! hehe!:):D

  • Does anyone hear the same chords as "zombie" from the cranberries?

at the end it sounds really like it

  • תחזור כבר לארץ.

  • no is rock prog is pop heavy

  • Ugkly muthafacka!!!!! Maitland was ousted from Porcupine tree!! What the fuck is he doing there with Wilson?

  • @Stefanakos84 Who says he was ousted? By all accounts, Mailand and PT parted on friendly terms... Otherwise WIlson wouldn't have asked him to drum half the "Blackfield" album, and Maitland would've never said yes, would they now?

  • @Proglove85 oh really ?? why don't you ask Maitland (or even Wilson) about that then?? Let's see what they'll say.. :-)

  • @Stefanakos84 Did you, mate? Hehe, I've been perusing the internet for indications of a 'tough break-up', and I can find none. Besides, as I mentioned before, they probably wouldn't work with each other, if they were angry with each other. Especially since the first Blackfield album (on which Maitland played on three songs) only came two years after he left PT ;-) seems a bid odd, dunnit? ;-)

  • @Proglove85 Yeap! I did!

  • @Stefanakos84 Bollocks...

  • @Proglove85 Yeap!! I did!! :-D

  • @Stefanakos84 Yeah, 'cause Maitland and Wilson will appear to be on friendly terms to the rest of the world, but they told you of all people that they actually loath each other ;-) nice try, my Hellenic friend...

  • @Proglove85 Dude... can't just Wilson oust him in friendly terms???? Like: "Ok dude... I love you, I'm a friend of yours but the drumming I need to have from now on in Porcupine Tree is completely different from yours, so I'm gonna have to switch you". If you check their mySpace as well, their friends there. nd to end this, Maitland should still have a personal website. E-mail him there and ask him

  • What a great fucking band... go Daniel on the piano!

  • I love the song, but the more I listen to this performance, the more I realize how out of tune the bass player is on his E string.

  • singing like brain molko

  • why are people praising steven on this? coulda sworn aviv wrote this song....

  • nice balance of vocal ranges, I like the harmonies a lot. Also great to see curtis maitland! He really shines towards the end as he did in many great PT albums.

  • I wish they would let Steven do all of the vocals.

  • @thefoosa72 totally agree, but it does add a certain "flavor" i guess

  • It's it not pop!

Pop= what you can see on MTV

  • steven wilson is exellent

  • Wherever Steven Wilson joins, the group becomes so perfect ! We all love and support the Genius of the Genius! Steven Wilson!

  • he got confused on the lyrics 0:54

  • great vid thanks

  • man that drummer kicks ass!!!!!!!!!!1Great song btw!

  • @ Metalunited101 agreed!

  • desde cancun mexico.....un saludo a todos.........excelente concepto musical..............espero que vengan un dia a mexico

  • gaza free

  • Steven Wilson has like 4 or 5 bands along with his solo stuff.

  • Great song....

  • I'm a great fan of Porcupine Tree. But I didn't knew that Steven Wilson plays in another band... ??

  • @linkinpark0909

i think he has 4 bands...

  • Gotta love Chris' hair, all wacky and out there.

  • Yeah and Steven Wilson is the John Lennon of this generation!

  • @Metalunited101 Accurate.

  • Maitland is King

  • Harrison is God

  • @Computerdisplay Lol this isn't Harrison

  • @RickDuijs never said this was him, it was just a comment to those who said chris maitland was better.

  • @Computerdisplay chris maitland is very good. his voice is just perfect.

  • @sp00kjj oh yeah i dont mean he is not good, i just like gavin harrison better

  • Comment removed

  • Steve Wilson also works with Israeli band Ephrat, does he have some interest in Israel?

  • Steven...I love you and all your projects!!!!!!!!

  • Chris Maitland is the Ringo Starr of this generation

  • it reminds me a litlle bit of Zombie(cranberries)..but they are really good...

  • Yeah, I can hear that to. Similar chord progression.

  • but what song does not remind you something else these days, right?

  • A lot of songs by bands like Porcupine Tree, Opeth, or Explosions in the Sky don't remind me of anything, as they create songs that song like absolutely new territory.

  • why is it so easy for a humen to hate

  • steven wilson=genius

  • @SILSKIER well i hate to comment on other people's opinion but believe me i've watched blackfield live (U2 support) and i've heared most of their songs and surely this guy is not a genious. whe i watched him live he was ridicoulous and everybody was laughing at him... i have no problem with his music cause it's ok but beleive me he is not a genius... if you want a genious listen to Pink Floyd

  • @GirlzRockerz Any people who are still fans of U2 nowadays have invalid opinions.

  • Hi, check out my channel for Blackfield type of music, it's written by me and highly inspired by BF, hope you like it. cheers!

  • Don't be a hater.

  • man, it sounded a bit rude (what you said), but... ha-ha-ha! ...couldn't help laughing

  • Bring CHRIS MAITLAND back in PORCUPINE TREE great vocals superb drummer!!!!

  • Porcupine Tree doesn't need any more vocals...... Gavin Harrison is the best drummer in the world right now...

  • Yoshiki Hayashi would like a word with you, if he you know, didn't cancel tours every 3 seconds.

  • amazing performance!<3 :)))

  • Chris Maitland rules!!! When he left Porcupine Tree, Steven Wilson needed two musicians to replace him on stage.

  • I think he would have had to bring second guitar soon anyways

  • this song remains me a lot :[ anyway nice song :) five stars for sure ;}

  • Blackfield are amazing and I'm glad to see Chris Maitland behind a drum kit again.

  • I saw Chris Maitland on tour with Mamma Mia. He was awesome. The whole band really contributed to the awesomeness of the musical.

  • the perfect balance between pop, rock and progressive music

  • @Deadwing1411 totally agree, it's a great song and a great performance live by a band which is a blend of the three styles you stated above.

Steven wilson is a great musician and Geffen... well his voice is a good complement to the band and here he sings really well (much better than the USA concert which is on DVD).

  • @Deadwing1411 Well I agree but I dont think that there are progressive elements to it but still awesome music

  • Chórki chyba nie do końca wyćwiczone, ale co tam. To Blackfield. Wybaczam.

  • HAHA, the intro sonds like "Zombie" by The Cranberries :D

  • BAhah it really does aye!!! my band Tsar Bomber has a chorous (I think) that sounds like Zombie by the Cranberries... they beg to differ... ah well

  • I love his voice. It's delightful! <3

  • I don't really get the sound issues?

  • the bass is not out of tune..it's just stands out,it's just sounds a bit punchy

  • yea, its kinda mixed weird.

  • as much as i too think it is out of tune, pro musicians are obsessed with being in tune. they retune after every song. i think its just the recording thats making it sound off.

  • cmon people...

as unfortunate this is, he's way out of tune! always! i've seen blackfield twice and its the same thing! he's got to do something with his singing!

and he also goes out of tempo in 2.54 and leaves the backing guitar track slightly behind!

  • how many times have you sung live while playing an instrument. you give me a number and i'll tell you how many people fuck up on stage because it is SO hard to keep shit together.

  • that's why they call it talent! ;)

and i do admit that he's a very talented songwriter! and i really like many of his songs. but he can't sing! that simple!

  • dude.. you can point out mistakes for almost everyone.. he sounds good in the studio doesn't he? im just defending being a performer myself.. we have good days and bad days.. maybe he's having a streak of the bad ones.. :)

  • nowadays, everyone can sound great in a studio!;)

and it's not a bad day, i've seen him live 3 times! am i so unlucky?

  • well if you saw him WITH steven wilson, i'd say im damn jealous.. i couldnt care less about aviv as long as i get to see steven..

  • heh! all three of them! :D

  • no u

  • i'm surprised with the bass, sounds amazing!

  • So out of tune...the bass

  • is the bass guitar out of tune ?!

  • Beautiful song, beautiful song..!

  • super super super

  • I think they are great, lot of emotions here, and if the music give you that, say no more.

  • In fact, a little bit, sometimes.

  • Hehe Steven got the lyrics right the second time around :).

  • Wow i didn't even hear it at 1st !

    Steven made a mistake, that's a first !

  • yes

  • Is that chris maitlin on drums!?

  • exactly.

but his name is Chris Maitland ;)

  • i love it so much

  • I'am israeli and i think that Aviv is an original(even though i dont listen to him very often) singer but Steven is nothing short of a god... the greatest part of this song (in this version at least) is the guitar solo .. i never heard so much feeling in a slow solo like this... fucking incredible ,like his playing with god's owned heands.

  • Here, here. Wilson reminds me of David Gilmour when he plays the guitar with his soul like that.

  • seen pt at the beacon theatre awesome show just such great music

  • Yeah, I saw them at City Hall in Nashville. They were awesome. They had a band called 3 opening for them. Another awesome band. Check 'em out!

  • yeah, 3 is an amazing band. definitely check their shit out.

  • yeah Im pretty sure that steven wilson is amazing in every music group he is in so....I dont know where anyone is getting the idea that he sucks....i dont even know how you did not get struck down by him when you stated suck a thing

  • i agree... i wonder what it would sound like if he collaborated with Mew?

  • I love this song, but the Bass seems hideously out of tune during the verses especially, and it leaps out during the last note of the chorus too... Dissapointing. Probably the shoddy TV show performance thing, i've seen a lot of great bands poorly representated in those environments! Still love these guys.

  • its definitely in tune, but i think it sounds off because of the presence it has on this recording.

  • Great band, great song.

  • did you just say that STEVE WILSON sucks at music? are you a freaking idiot?

  • to know who steven wilson is and insult his gift in music automatically makes you a fucking idiot

  • Hahaha, why is it that all the fucking twats who don't understand anything can't even construct two proper sentences?

  • somebody needs to learn what music is.

Nobody uses Steven Wilson and suck in the same sentence unless they are an ignorant bastard who needs to open his fucking ears.

  • ... or unless the sentence is like "every other rock band sucks compared to Steven Wilson's." :D

  • totally true.

  • I don't know how you found your way onto a forum for intelligent discussion of decent music, but I understand how scared and bewildered you are. Close your eyes, and we'll send you back to the Fallout Boy video playlist, mmkay?

  • please save me, I watched this video and I'm so terrified, I THINK JUST WITNESSED GOOD MUSIC. I'm going to lock myself in my bathroom for a week with my Pete Wentz posters. MOTHER OF GOD.

  • Steven and Chris Maitland (at drums) rock! Aviv sucks!

  • Steven Wilson is a genius. I don't know much about this aviv guy but he has me intrigued.

  • No wonder you're from Israel :P Ok.. everyone have a right to their opinion and I think they are both great! :)

  • i dunno about that...i respect this guy, but steve's work with porcupine tree is pure genius.

  • I deffinately love this song..I just love it,it always makes me wanna cry..Ειναι απιστευτο κομματι..

  • steven wilson is great!

    and i like avivs voice

  • Steven Wilson rules

  • Steven Wilson is not god, He's better than god

  • I think avivs voice has a certain charm even tho it does hav a wobbly sound to it.

  • aviv sings horrible, but hes a god, hes one of the best writers, but yeah, no one is like steven wilson

  • Someone like Steve Wilson comes only once in a million years so it sucks that your average dumbass "culturally sound" person is too distracted by the worthless gangster or emo movements to pay enough tribute to groups like these who maintain music as both an art and a science, not some stupid splurging of instinctual desires. I'm glad to be alive now so that I can hear music before it's completely destroyed. PT for life.

  • Great comment, so true.

  • The ending of this particular version of Pain is ... incredible. Steven is quite a slick guitar player.

  • Steven Wilson <33

  • someone singing backing vox doesn't know the words to the chorus :(:(

  • great video! love it ;)

  • The songs are fantastic ... but Aviv, at least here, sings like a damn drunken fellow. Steven ... as always ... perfect.

  • I could not agree more... he just ruined the song, to me.

The only thing I absolutely love in this version is the ending, wich is just incredible o__o

  • this song has something to do with me lol .. steven wilson knows exactly what he is doing , he is musically genius .. and actually all the stuff that blackfield presented are really neat and impressive , keep going blackfield

  • hes doing htem as an experimental pop project, my guess is to see the response

  • in steven wilson we trust!

  • esta bonita la cacion verda chang?

  • Is it Daniel Solomon on the keyboard?
