Also The United States didn't lose the South Vietnam did the US left in 1973 Saigon fell in 1975.

The reliability of this helicopter along with the multiple support roles this helicopter possesses, the helicopter by far surpasses the Apache. The Apache is garbage now as far as reliability.

the problem with the ah1w/z's is the gun, it lacks the blast radius of the 30mm, but its CAS is better than the apache, its meant to fly at low altitude, keep moving, and shooting only 30m in front of friendly forces, the apache's targeting system is overpowered, it can target dozens but doesnt have the payload to hit half of the max target engagement capabilities, the apache is for long range and staying in one place, the apache stays with the troops the apache takes care of
1-2 problems then leaves, the cobra stays. the apache is too big a target to do what the apache does without loosing large numbers of apaches

there is a plan actually in design phases that will eliminate 10% of weight in the w/z Cobras and the space made will be replaced by ammuniton holds (theyre re-doing wires and electric systems nd the space thats made will increase the ammo to 1500 rounds

The Cobra has an obsolete manual fire control system; whilst the Apache has a sight guided targeting system, able to pick off individual enemies just by the gunner looking at them. The Cobra, on the other hand, has far greater possibility of hitting your own men as well as the enemy. Apache has better armour than the Cobra too.

Also i would think it is better to fly something that is not so dependent on computers as much as the pilot himself

Winning and loosing the Vietnam War is a personal opinion. As far as our military efforts, our (the US) did extremely well and filled the duty they were called to do perfectly. Not only did they demonstrate superiority over the enemy, but they adapted combat hardly seen by the US before. We won militarily, but politics was the ultimate factor that "lost" the war. Politics kept the US from not only pushing the enemy out, but kept them from "winning the war."
It's the exact same scenario. In Iraq and Afghanistan, if I was on a ground patrol, and I got shot at, I would have to call in the issue BEFORE I can shoot back. This costs time and lives. Politics and the media completely control the war right now. This denies the military it's ability to do anything. Ask any US or allied serviceman who has fought a war. They'll tell you that politics and media is not trying to win this war for us. In fact, it is holding us back.

@Bubo25 The Cobra was design in the earlier years of the Vietnam War. The Apache was develop in the 1980s. It like comparing a earlier mode of the M60 to the M1. The Cobra is based on proving fire support at close range. While, the Apache is design to engage armor units outside of any AA vehicles range. They are meant for different usage and should not be compare.

actually the AH1W and AH1Z can both use longbow on their wingtips instead of a sidewinder. but it doesnt need it cause it doesnt need to stay miles back to shoot, its able to go in low and fast then take it out, the Cobra pilots take more chances cause the Cobra is very hard to hit and can take a MASSIVE beating

The Canadian Forces can sure use a Cobra or two as well, if they actually want a REAL attack helicopter.

Winning and loosing the Vietnam War is a personal opinion. As far as our military efforts, our (the US) did extremely well and filled the duty they were called to do perfectly. Not only did they demonstrate superiority over the enemy, but they adapted combat hardly seen by the US before. We won militarily, but politics was the ultimate factor that "lost" the war. Politics kept the US from not only pushing the enemy out, but kept them from "winning the war."

It's the exact same scenario. In Iraq and Afghanistan, if I was on a ground patrol, and I got shot at, I would have to call in the issue BEFORE I can shoot back. This costs time and lives. Politics and the media completely control the war right now. This denies the military it's ability to do anything. Ask any US or allied serviceman who has fought a war. They'll tell you that politics and media is not trying to win this war for us. In fact, it is holding us back.

@abriell1 not really, the us soldiers do extremely well on the frontline. we managed to storm the beaches of normandy, and raid islands in the pacific against an enemy that new its terrains EXTREMELY well, and come out on top.
the only reason we arent done in iraq and afghanistan is because the politicians arent letting us use our full military potential.
and in vietnam, the vietnamese lost over 10 million, and the US only lost 50'000. we left vietnam for politicians.

Over all Iraq War is pretty much finish, people who are fighting back are rebals who liked Iraq before the United States invaded. The Iraqi government can take care of the rebals by them selfs which is why we're leaving Iraq in December 31 December. War in Afghanistan the United States is mainly focusing on training Afghan military so they can take care of their own country.
