  • GET TO THE CHOPPA!!! sorry sorry sounds appropriate

  • the japanese people always get the best things

  • It was a hidden message is garbled after ending the hidden message on the right here.

    [Orokanachikyuujinyo

    Koredereddofarukonga

    Zenmetsushitatodemo Omotteirunoka

    Chikyuuzensenkichiha Ushinattaga

    Tsuginoteha Uttearu Sudeni

    Wagareddofarukonha

    Eienni Fumetsunaruzo 』

  • @yoshi109692

here's transcription of the hidden message to the japanese (made by myself, can be wrong somwhere): 愚かな地球人よ

    これでレッドファルコンが

    全滅したとでも思っているのか?

    地球前線基地は 失ったが

    次ぎのては討ってある既に

    我がレッドファルコンは

    永遠に不滅んあるぞ

which means: "Foolish Earthlings! You think you got away with

destroying us? We will take over all of Earth's bases and by the time you realize it, it will be too late. Were immortal for eternity! ."

  • If the game is set in the 27th century, why are they flown out in a Vietnam-era helicopter?

    =\

  • @Irrenmann It's the military.

    Expendable meat puppets-old prop bird.

Lost cause if the mission was a failure.

  • @VoceTubeia Most probably because the US cartridge lacked the VRC2 chip

  • @zombierust Shitty YouTube just deleted @VoceTubeia question but it was something like: Why did they cut the end scene in the US version

  • @zombierust It makes sense. I also noticed that everything moves (walls and such) on the last stage. It's way cooler this way.

  • @VoceTubeia Yes, I talk about that in this video youtube.com/watch?v=TFtcSNWViJI

  • Gryzor looked way better than US and EU release besides it made helluvan lotta more sense, especially the part where they invade aliens lair.

Why did they had to fuck it up so bad? Graphics were helluvan lot better and backgrounds were even animated.

  • @Bastiest Because Nintendo of America thought it would be "too expensive" to use Konami's VRC4 mapper chip, which was responsible for the added effects.

  • @Teraforce88 Wait, they actually used a chip in this game?

I just thought they wanted to make it look more kid friendly not horrify them out.

  • @Bastiest - Gryzor is the EU version of the arcade game. The Japanese version of Contra is just Contra (though it's spelled 魂斗羅, which is pronounced "kon-to-ra").

  • ok i found the message in english "Foolish Earthlings! You think you got away with destroying us? We will take over all of Earth's Bases and by the time you realize it, it will be too late... THE RED FALCON WILL LIVE... FOREVER!!!"

  • umm. what happened at 2:50?

  • @MarcoRossi101 Hacked alien hidden message. Check @rakugakicats comment for the original japanese message

  • @MarcoRossi101 it is a message XD

  • @MarcoRossi101 it is japanese message it goes someting like this:

Woa waaah waza wooo waza uuuu waza uuoo

    And it means something like:

"Thanks for you yens, fellow japanese citizen come back soon"

    I hope this helps.

  • If you are into Contra and retro gaming then you need to check out my channel! I have done a full review on this game as well as many others!

The Emulator Review with Jason Heine! Come check it out.. (I also have details on that $13,000 game that sold a few days ago!)

  • is it just me or......WHY DOES JAPANISE VERSIONS LOOK BETTER THEN THE AMERICAN!?!?!?!?!?!

  • its just you

  • @Musicman6454 Yeah!!!!!Look More Epic Than The American Version ^ ^

  • get to the choppaaaa!!!!!! PREDATOR

  • I'll always prefer this ending over the English theme.

  • Did you put the secret ending it it?

  • It appears on the japanese version of the game

  • means it has also extra hidden ending which holding SELECT during whole credit screen...... only works on japanese version!

  • Select and Start, but it was not necessary with this rom version

  • If you listen to the explosions, you might notice that they sound very similar to some FX in Top Gun... hehe

  • lol in european version the organic floor and walls don't animate... after defeat you immediatly see the island blowing up.

And theres no level overview map at the beginning of a stage.

  • 2:42 OH MY BRAIN, IS IT POKEMON??? *suffers of epilepsy* xDDD

    以上ですm(_ _)m。

  • Thanks for posting the correct/original hidden message

  • than you very much.

now WHAT THE FUCK is that suppose to mean?

  • LOL

  • they cut it because of the romscale... also notice that the Lair earth in Jap version seems to be nicer... its alive... isnt it? :P

  • Yap

  • I was probably one of the first Ninetendo owner in Europe and definitly in italy.

I got from Singapore the console and some games in early 1987

I rememebr this game so well...me and my brother loosing entire afternoons palying this game. It's original title was Delta Force then in Europe and US was changed for Contra, without a reason.

    Awsome Game!

  • @budibausto it was changed because of the american Delta Force movie....copyright infringement

  • that red text in the end you can also see in the US version, its an alternative ending, an message from the ailiens... ive seen it at my friends place once...

  • Well, the final boss victory scene has been added. Cool.

  • Idiots! Why the hell would they cut the helicopter scene from the US version?

  • ya u got point there

  • thats it, big deal

  • It's a bit better (IMO) with the heli scene.

Also notice the shaking Alien's Lair background.

In an 8-Bit world those small changes made huge difference.

For more on the Japanese version improvements watch my Contra review.
