Hey, nobody has listened to that "strange" guitar sound that exists in the second part of the theme (around 4:00 min. in this version) but it ONLY exists in the studio version? Don't know if you got it. It sounds good. I Don't know why they don't play it (and haden't played it) anymore.
love di anno..total smash head..much more raw i think..although their sound did defo get better,no doubt.similar style in vocal technique, can never top the original though eh?
Great video, i first saw them on Somewhere in Time tour . This brings back old memories. Man in the early 80's when Killers hit the scene everyone in metal was like there's a new standard, and it's Iron Maiden. I think it was business that made them drop Clive and Paul. Bruce was better at working up stadium crowds. He was a one man show. Nyima
I agree. Maybe Bruce was technically a better singer, but I really liked Paul's voice. Also, I think Maiden sounded a lot better on the first two albums (Iron Maiden & Killers). They were less polished, but that's what I liked about them. Raw heavy metal.
stratton left because he and 'Arry didn't agree which direction IM where heading at. 'Arry wanted a more heavy metal aproach, but stratton wanted a bit more soft metal kinda thing, forgot what the correct description was=P

wow ur all idiots, this is fucking 1980, too bad dianno who is now a fat white trash doesnthave a band and all he does is get random asswipes and cover old maiden tunes. Bruce on the other hand is still in maiden and his solo sucess or hell even samson has more success that dianno has ever had.
Apparently Paul Di'anno had drinking/smoking(other things im sure) issue's, and started to miss gigs, and perform badly. Clive Burr developed MS and was forced to quit. Both were great in the band at one point, but the line-up changes just made maiden into a diff sound, good/bad, they went through an evolutionary progession.
No. He was a non metal fan. He even said in an interview "actually, i dont like this music at all". Harris and Smallwood god really pissed with him, and Stratton kept arguing with tem about the sound, so they decided to fire him.

Buy the Early Days DVD and you'll know everything about this band.
Stratton was left because Harris didn't like the fact taht he listen to The Eagles.
Paul left because he was feeling depressed and was just using drugs to numb the pain.
Clive was asked to leave after the Beast on the Road tour.
And Dennis Wilcock convinced Harris to kick EVERYONE out of Maiden.
Paul was Maidens best singer.

Say what you want about Stratton but his solo (5:26 on the album version) on this track is one of the greatest of all time.
He left because he worshipped bands like Kiss and Whitesnake instead of Priest and Sabbath.

Thank fook Statton didn't get his way. Would have ended up as hair metal! 'Arry was never gonna have that!

This footage is superb, thanks.
I believe Dennis Stratton has a band called Story and plays in a few pubs near Upton Park.
Does anyone know why they fired Dianno and Burr?
Around the same time I think, after Killers and before Beast, let me know.

I don't think they did. Dennis Stratton was a lot older than the rest of the band and I think he just left as touring took its toll on him.
