@funnyfootballs Download GPU-z, CPU-z is showing you your idle clocks. During idle the GPU drops it's clocks to save power, it's normal.

When my Browser is running it clocks to that. when it is idle without a browser it is 157 mhz core and 300 memory. when you play games it clocks at full speed (HD5870 it is 850 core and 1200 memory). this was made for power saving :D

@chrisvillan88 A Single HD5870 is enough to run this game on max @ 2560x1600 without AA. This monitor is 1680x1050, and at 1080p a single one is still more than enough IMO.

@BlackLightCinema Not really, even at 2560x1600 1GB is enough. Only time 2GB might prove to be useful is on a Eyefinity triple 30" 2560x1600 setup. And since your hesitant about buying a 2GB HD5870, I'm betting that's not the case. :P

2GB also might be useful in GTAIV because of it's shitty coding and love for video memory. xD

Yea just get a cheap reference model 1GB HD5870. :D

@NarutoBrZacker Yes at the moment, though the GTX460 is pretty damn sweat. Stock it's better than an HD5830, and At 900MHz it perfoms as well/better than as an HD5850 in most all games. In Crysis at 845MHz it gets the same average performance as a HD5870. Only nVidia card I can currently recommend for a high end rig.

Stupid misconception that people make... And melt my card... You do understand that it doesn't run much hotter than it does at stock clocks, and at 100% fan it runs cooler, like 65c load, which relatively is cool...

@gdulli080 No you can't run the 8800GT and 5870 together to improver performance. You can't mix and match ATi cards with nVidia cards, not only that, they need to be the same card, or the same GPU. EI 8800GT + 8800GT in SLi. There are some exceptions, like you can do a match between the HD5870 + HD5850 in crossfire, but other than that its pretty strait forward. For ATi its called Crossfire, and for nVidia its called SLi.

They have hacked drivers that make physx work, yes. IMO physx is a gimmick, used in like what? 3 modern games? Other than that its practically use less. On top of that, physx first came out when single core processors were the mainstream, in this day and age the CPU can calculate physics operations just as fast. Only issue is nvidia doesn't want that, they want you to buy one of their cards to be able to use the fancy physics affects. Like they figured out how to get arkham asylum to work on CPU

@bob333336 Physx is a gimmick. ATI has their own physics engine called havok, so both card manufacturers have the technology. The only difference is that Nvidia gives you an option to dedicate a card solely to physics processing; you don't get that same option with ATI. But let's be realistic. If you're going to get more than one video card, then you're going to put them in SLI or Crossfire. Not many people have the money to buy 4 cards and dedicate one to physx.

its around 11 inches long (TWSS) i have a XFX 5870 XXX edition, be warned i had to DE-clock mine to stock speeds to get it to play until XFX sent me a bios update and that pushed the card FASTER then the XXX was set to and it works just fine now :) also make sure you have 90 degree sata connectors on your mobo the card tends to lay right over the connectors .
