  • I want a cage like that too !

  • BEAUTIFUL setup. <3

  • this is just wonderful.rats are excellent pets and very clean.this shelter is one of the most cleanest i have ever seen.good luck with your ratties!

  • at 0:35, it's a ferret nation right? The one with the purple lining..? Or is it a pan.. How did you do it, and do you know where I could find something like that? I know this is confusing, I just don't have the right words D: You know like-- for the shelves, the purple.. lining? That's what I'm asking..

  • 'm going to get this cage for Christmas (the double version) and I've heard that the pans are way to shallow so do u think that i should use fleece or is bedding ok

  • @pinkhottie82 Most people use fleece, towels, etc. or order special made pans from Bass equipment and paint them w/Rustoleum. You can not use bedding with the pans that come with it. Well, you could, if you want a huge mess.

  • Oh my gosh the cages are amazing. Do you work at the rescue? I have female rats in a very large cage (ferret one), and I'd love to get a boy or two since you sell them SO cheap neutered! I have issues with the smell of unneutered boys. I don't see any adoptable pets listed for the rescue right now though...do you not have any or is it currently closed? And since I already have two girls, would I be able to get just one boy, or would I still have to buy in a pair?

  • Hi I was wondering if you would know weather my cage is big enough for 3 bucks! seeing as you cages are amazing :-)

  • could u post a vid of ur martins cages? plzzz~

  • Could a rat escape through the ferret nation bars?

  • @bectar55 Adult males, and most adult female rats (provided they're not tiny ones) do fine in the FN. Young males and some smaller females could get out. I use the FN for adult, larger females and most males over 4-5 months without any issues. I use the Critter Nation for babies/smaller rats. :)

  • i love the cage set ups this is how i want to have my cages and play pen before i get my 2 dumbo rats dont care how much its gonna cost or how long it will take to clean as long as my rats will be happy and always find something to do when i cant cuddle and play with them love it.

  • what rat food do you use?

  • This is amazing! I know there is single and double unit ones. But if you got a single unit one. Can you be able to get another one on top of it? Or would you just have to buy the double unit one.

  • wow! your awsome! :D

  • lol you would be better off with mice/rat racks

  • @SuperBeardeddragon Maybe I might, but I rather doubt the rats would.

  • Great setup. Just wondering, i think you have a honeywell air purifier, how good does that one work for you? apart from taking all the dander out of the air, do you think it takes some smells out of the air too?

Thanks so much for any help :)

  • @cassbubb It works pretty well at moving/filtering the air and getting rid of allergens, not sure how much it helps with smell (I keep things pretty clean, so there's rarely any kind of detectabe odor), but it certainly doesn't hurt. :)

  • oh my.. thats so cool

  • u can wall mount the wheels instead of just having them on the stand? awesome

  • i am extremely jealous of your cn's.

  • do you just use blankets on the bottum of the cage? dont the rats shred all there toys and stuff be cause i have rats and they always shred the towls or blankets if i put them in there cage. do you have any advise on what i could use to make my cages easy to clean....i have 21 rats right now. and it takes 3 hours to clean the cages

  • How long does it take to clean all this o.O

  • Awesome! I think I see you on ratties@LJ, yes? I am so jealous of your organization. I have an fn and I'm getting a cn soon, these cages are just so amazing.

  • As usual, your cages are looks amazing, lovely and colourful, and sooo clean ^-^ You are doing such a good thing for the ratties.

Just wondering what you feed all of them?

  • Thank you! I feed Harlan Teklad blocks and supplement with a homemade mix a couple times a week (loosely based on Suebee's, but with more focus on ancient grains and variety) - and fresh fruits/veggies/healthy table scraps daily. :)

  • Sounds like a perfect diet :D

Unfortunetley i cannot get harlan teklad blocks, or even oxbow where i live (australia) So i make up a very varied dry mix, aswell as use what lab blocks are available. And a fruit salad mix, veggie mix, and lots of treaties like biscuits and yogies :P

Also curious, what sort of cleaning rituals do you do on a daily/Weekly basis?

I also have the australian equivalent of the ferret nation, its called a ferret kingdom, look it up on ebay australia ;)

  • OH also, what type of wheel do you use? Would it be the Silent Spinners? They look like those ones.

Also what sort of cleaning would you do on a daily basis?

  • Yep, Silent Spinners. :) I spot clean daily (moving poops to litterboxes and things like that, changing out hammocks if necessary) and clean fully 1-2 x per week (depending on how many rats are in the cage and how messy they are/how much they're littertrained). :)

  • @blackthorn45

I have Bought 2 silent spinners so far now, pink one for girls and blue one for boys, i am still looking for a green and purple one. They are really neat looking anf functional wheels!
