well the ramp is hinged on the ship which is resting upside down so I don't really find it very surprising that it is closed

The ship is resting on its side, not upside down. If the visor really did fall off and pull open the ramp, then the mechanical arms and other things attached to the visor would've been seriously damaged and bent out of shape, making it impossible for the ramp to be closed like that.

The visor was still attached or resting very closely tot he ship when this video was made. The footage showing this was edited out from these underwater films, which, I might add, are of extremely poor quality and highly unprofessional.

allth3 So quick to assume a conspiracy! The captain was running too fast head on into the waves. If water cant bend steel, dams never break. As for the dents, it was banging around on the front of the ship until all the hinges broke. It wasn't an instantaneous failure, and there was a lot less steel holding the bow door on than anyone would be comfortable thinking about, which is why ro-ro vessels of this type were retrofitted with an airtight steel door behind the bow door after this disaster.

Many ferries on far rougher routes to Ireland, Spain etc have visors and havent had any problems. What needs to be answered is what caused the huge dent in the Estonias visor?? It certainly wasnt a wave!

The huge dent in the bow visor was caused by the visor hitting the bulbous bow when it broke loose from the ship according to the official reports. What really happened will probably remain unknown until the final report is declassified in 2064.

Well, that doesn't show that clearly. What IS strange though, is that the ramp, although in a movie from the international comission was said to be fully opened and that being the reason for the massive water flow, seems to be almost completely closed.

Cuz the they used all kind of ship's to be out of military radars and hided below ships. cuz of the military training in Denmark Strait. At the same time it was the only way out from baltic sea. Well, this version may be false. Why ? Because another ship, the Jan Heweliusz, sank in the same way years before the estonia, with water pouring from the bow visor. The Heweliusz ship capsized yet, but remained for many hours upside down before finally sinking, whereas the Estonia sank in 20 minutes. And when you see what the Swedish gov. did to cover the truth, well, you might ask yourself some questions.

If they raised the wreck from the bottom, many questions could be answered. But so far, I personally believe the story that the massive waves of the storm broke the ships visor. In a documentary it was told, that the visor was exceptionally lightweight, and that the ship was never designed for so rough sea.
