Although this was a terrific gift that Sir Paul did to Quebec City (I saw him myself in 1989 in Montreal) and with all the respect I have for the artist, this wasn't a great performance in my opinion. Yes, it's amazing to see a 66 year old man still performing in front of more than 200,000 people but on most of his songs he did that night, he couldn't hit the notes because his voice has lowered since a few years. He should lower the key of his songs. He sings a bit off in the high notes..sad
because the guy obviously has no idea what he is talking about and knows very little about music... a great performance isnt about just hitting every note, it is about the atmosphere, and this performance had one of the best atmospheres and paul did amazing... also, you cant just lower the key of the beatle's songs, it woul completely change the songs... plus, eleanor rigby is already quite low lol, and he would still have to hit the same notes even if he changed the key
Hi mapo69, If you noticed at the beginning of the show, He was doin' signs to his monitor tech). They had few feedbacks too.And on occasions, these situations can get it harder to sing in key. But I saw performances of sir Paul and no one can sing Helter Skelter or I'm down like him..And I have to agree, "You cannot lower down the key of some of those songs" At least not such classic songs.....His great....But human.
Well even if he had technical problems at the beginning, he still was off in the later songs of his concert. Why can't people just admit that Sir Paul doesn't have the vocal power he used to have?? And I don't agree with you; at his age maybe he should lower the key of some of his songs. It's better to sing right that trying to sing high notes that you can't reach and sing off key! I maintain all my admiration to the artist but it's a fact that his voice is getting tired with age! Regards MAPO
You may be right....I do agree that sometimes his off.....Nobody's perfect....Then again, most of the new, so call stars, can't sing in key live...and at 66 years old....Pavarotti was great but with age, he lost a bit of his range too....Sir Paul doesn't have any vocal training. But he is still an Icon. I saw some live shows where he did a great performance vocally.....So maybe now he has an off night more then he use to....So on that point you are right.....But we still love him.
Wow can't believe you guys are nitpicking...if you'd been there singing along you wouldn't care how it sounded!

I hear what you're saying, but he still has a pretty decent vocal register for 66 years old.

I don't know why you got 8 thumb-downs for just stating the obvious.

He's lowered the keys of songs before. He plays She's A Woman in E instead of A nowadays since it's so damn high.
