  • i looks like it has a hard time getting the power to the ground since the shocks are so stiff

  • @indy34096

Yeah... these are best on pavement. The stiff shocks really do make it a hard ride on anything else.

  • I have a Tsauro-z original bought from radio shack with two batteries if not three a rapid charger, missing rear shocks everything else is good still have box too.

  • @tonythetigre8541

haha, thats awesome man :) just like i used to have. These golden arrows were made in japan, but by the time of the tsauro z's they were being manufactured in tawian, and i think were lower quality. My rear shocks fell off too. and i bought a parts frame tsauro z, and the same thing happened... But the arrows seem to have no problem at all.

If you want, i can send you some shocks for your tsauro z. Can gorilla glue the studs in so they stay.

  • yeah! i picked one up today at the local swap meet for $10 !! its all original , complete, 2 batteries, no charger and the box!!

i saw it , i was like " holy mother fucking dog shit, how much you want for the rc buggy?" he was like " uh how's 10 bucks sound?" i was like " fuck yeah ill give ya 10 bucks"

    pretty freaking cool stuff man

  • @MrSBChevy

That is awesome! Gotta get a charger for that beast and jump it over some shit!

  • golden arrow = epic win!

  • @sweendog1969

They are some cool beasts for sure :) Especially the brand new one. that was awesome.

  • holy fuckin dog shit! tom's got a golden arrow!! fuck those are my favorite radio shack cars, i got one modified to run with hobby grade electrics! its so freaking hard to find these! these and the niko frame buggies can use the tamiya hornet/grass hopper parts and rear axels!! Tom , let me know if you ever wanna sell them!!! these things are BEASTS!!

  • @MrSBChevy

hey! yeah, these are awesome. i actually may want to sell these beasts :) The black one in the video, was BRAND NEW. never driven till this video. i bought it for 200 bucks if i remember right. and made the video :) Tires were weird from sitting since birth. But i only used it about 5 times.

It is awesome the crazy amount of nikko cars that were the same frame and setup. Just madness

  • @tommartyn well let me know when you want to sell ,and how much! last time i got screwed over when i bought off youtube, but you got so many videos and youre nice guy, i dont think youd rip me off!

these things are cool, when im not working on cars n' junk , i fuck around with rc cars! these things are so cool! Lmk when and how much, ill start putting back money!

  • i have a Tsauro z on ebay right now

  • I got one of these around the same time I was fixing up an old Sears Super Lobo. Both cars are based on the Nikko Rhino, but the Golden Arrow doesn't have proportional speed for some reason. It kind of makes it seem a little faster than the Lobo, though I doubt it actually is.

  • :) You've got some cool insight on these cars. I didn't know that there was a duplicate of the golden arrow sold directly by Nikko. or the Lobo. all three are the same car, and all 3 are digital proportional speed control. Every little bit more you push the levers, the more it goes, or turns.

You must have had a Red Arrow. Which is a totally different car, other then the tires, and the name. That wasn't digital proportional. People think they are the same as the golden's.

  • @tommartyn I was told that the Golden Arrow, or maybe only some of them, do not have proportional speed. In the video it seems to always run full throttle. Haven't had a Red Arrow, yet...

Look for Gig Nikko Thunderbolt videos.

  • @artemusprine

Nah, all the Golden arrow's are proportional. The are all the same car. the same as those others you mentioned, just with a different body. You can see the controler in the video for the brand new, never used one, its got the Trim adjustments on it, and i move them. Something that isn't digital proportional wouldn't ever have those on the controler. They might have a steering one on the car itself. But they wouldn't have one for the motor.

    I'll check out the thunderbolt

  • @artemusprine

i wouldn't go for the red arrow. Its only got 2 speeds forward, and the rear suspension is way different. Looks more like those way cheaper cars that barely had any suspension in the back. and it looks like a pretty weak motor too.

That is crazy, the thunderbolt looks like another one of the same cars. Just a different body, and name. i wonder how many different ones there were... I had a Tsauro-z when i was a kid, and it was a newer version of the GA, with bigger tires

  • @tommartyn "That is crazy, the thunderbolt looks like another one of the same cars. Just a different body, and name. i wonder how many different ones there were..."

OK, let me see... Nikko Thunderbolt is only a 380. Nikko Rhino, Roadstar, and Bison are all the same "f10 Frame Buggy" as Sears Super Lobo I (like TB but is a 540) and II (same as long nosed Rhino). Radio Shack even had one more car like the GA, but I can't find it... I just lost an auction on a Tsauro-z today actually!

  • damn that red arrow looks beat up.. they were hott back in the day.. nice classics!

  • @BloodyFingerz

that red painted one is a golden arrow. I've never had a red arrow. Thanks! These things are fun

  • I have one of these I bought brand new in 1987. It was $119.99, which was a lot of money for a 8 year old. I have been thinking about putting some batteries in it to see if it still runs.. It hasn't been turned on in 18 years or so.

  • @MN12DOTNET

haha! thats awesome :) I bet it will :) These work! Theyr'e pretty much just as old. Radio shack sells some pretty decent Powered battery packs for it still i think. i think they came with 1200 mlh amp batterys, and you can get 2300? milh amp ones there now. lasts longer, and goes faster :)

  • @tommartyn Cool.. I put larger tires on the back of mine and painted it blue. I will have to hunt for a battery pack and fire her up.

  • i have a tsauro z mint condision with new body and tires

  • @madman8451

ah, you lucky bastard :) They are the best! One of these day's i'll buy another one. The golden arrow's might be a bit faster though, because they are alot lighter, the body's and all, and the tires are alot smaller.

  • Hey! All golden arrows were black. Some one painted the one red. The red arrows were before the golden ones i believe and they are totally different cars. they look kinda similar, but are nothing alike.

  • lol, my dad has one of these, i remember driving it when i was little, this thing can haul some ass if you can get it driving straight-like driving it in the street works good

  • haha, nice! yeah, when i was a kid, i had a Tsauro-Z, which was a newer version of the golden arrow. bassically the same thing, with bigger tires, and a different body and bumper. Geared a little different too to compensate for the tires. But yeah, i drove it around on pavement all the time, beating it senseless, and it love it! :) Hurt when it slammed into you at speed though!

  • i still got one.i took it apart and made a locker for the rearend,it has a gold motor on it but its so old

  • I got one of these about 20 years ago too. I remember testing it out on the smooth tile floor in front of the store and couldn't hardly keep the thing pointed straight. I was hooked.

  • haha! awesome! yeah man, they are cool :)

  • dud i just found one in my garge when i was cleaning and there awsome

  • Nice! yeah man! they rock! :)

  • i can actualy remember getting one for christmas about 20 years ago and accidentaly ran my foot over full speed and it tore my big toe nail completely off... Nice collection thou a redarrow and a golden arrow very sweet man

  • Hey! thought i responded to this already, but i don't see it. Ouch! Man, yeah, these buggers are quick.

I keep letting people know, that yeah, that red one, is a golden arrow someone painted red. The red arrows are only bassically similar in shape, and the wheels are the same. Other then that, totally different cars. Nothing is the same about them. Use the same batterys though :)

  • When you were showing them side by side I thought the black one must just be a shelf car, but I was WRONG! lol!

  • haha , yeah! the black one was brand new! never used from 87 or when ever the guy's parents bought it for him. That was the first time it ever drove :) cost 200 bucks :)

  • Comment removed

  • Nice man! you can get a pretty decent battery at Radio Shack for not that much money! pretty high power rating on them. :) i think they still sell chargers and all too :)

  • @geotrackerkid

It's amazing how well you can shine up the tires after a run using Armor-All and a toothbrush.

  • These cars were awesome during the 80's and 90's they are hella fast for that time. In terms of toy quality they used 20-27 turn hobby class 540 motors in them! You can also install six 5x11 rubber sealed ball bearings, four for the front wheels and two for the back. If your good you can get two vise grip pliers to twist and remove the swing shaft for the tranny and be able to install three 5x11's and one 5x8 shielded ball bearings for the spur gear! Try not to jar the gears they are plastic! :]

  • my dad has one!

  • haha! awesome! They are beasts! :)

  • wanna sell either 1?

  • does anyone know where i can find these old buggys from?

  • You can find these beasts on ebay. just search for:

    golden arrow

and look through all the results. right now there are 3 for sale. Thats where i got all mine. from people off of ebay. Good luck! these things are fun!

  • @imserious2187 check out ebay, those old radio shack buggies are the best

  • the first version of this was called the red arrow, it was faster. the golden arrow had a speed reduction due to many kids running themselves over, it still happened though.

  • The red arrow was not any kind of version of the golden arrow. they are completly different RC car's. their design is totally different. they used the same looking tires though, i'll give you that. and these were VERY fast too. Probably a decent bit faster then the red arrows. i think the golden arrow had a better faster engine in it. If you get hit by a golden arrow, IT HURTS! :) these things are fast. The Tsauro-x's and z's were actually made from these, And were a little slower.

  • My cousin owned a first gen Red Arrow and a friend down the road owned a Golden Arrow (which came out after the second gen Red Arrow). the Red Arrow was allot faster

the second gen Red Arrow was allot slower then the first gen and broke more easily. the golden arrow was about as fast if not a little faster then what the Second gen Red arrow was.

cause my Cousin got the first Red Arrow that RS made then they got Discontinued . then they re released the Red Arrow then released the golden arrow

  • your Red Arrow is the second gen because it has 2 rear shocks the first gen Red Arrow had a mono rear shock.

the first gen also sat lower to the ground due to the mono shock in the rear. the first gen Red Arrow came out in the late 80s i think , the others came out in the early 90's, the first gen wasn't out long due to it hurting little kids really badly when it hit them (actually breaking bones when it hit).

RS was forced to redesign the Red Arrow to be slower then first gen.

  • i don't have any generation of red arrow. but i think the red arrow, and the golden arrow were both sold at the same time. The golden arrow was introduced in 87 i believe, and ran into the very very early 90's. Its very fast, and could surely break a little kids leg if it hit him. the red arrow's i've seen on ebay look like a cheaper design then the golden arrow, and also look like a smaller motor. Seems like they would be a decent bit slower then the golden.

  • i got one of these a while ago at the salvation army,i just need a new battery,it came with its remote and all.

  • Awesome! yeah! they are fun man! you can still get batterys for them at radio shack! :) pretty decent ones, for not a rediculous price.

  • cool!

  • I got a golden arrow for xmas in the early 90s'. it was by far the fastest rc car in the park.

  • haha! nice :) yeah, they are awesome durable fast little cars. heavy! but fun!

  • I wish i had taken care of it. the differential got messed up when it landed a jump on a rock.

  • yeah, i was merciless with mine as well. it got run over by 2 cars in its day. body broke off, but the thing just kept going. you can always buy another one now, like i've done. just go on ebay, and search for golden arrow. there are normally 2 or 3 on, and you can pick them up for 10-40 bucks. alot of times with a battery and all. and the one's i've bought work great! :)

  • theres a really nice one on ebay right now, for about 20 bucks shipping, and it starts at 1 cent :) maybe you could win the sucker. the ebay item number is 220421277029

just copy that, and past it into the search area in ebay, and it will take you right to the car :)

  • I just bided on it. I'll race you once i get it XD

  • Ha! nice :) hope you win the beast! it will be an interesting race, that black one i have from this video is still practically brand new. i only used it maybe 5 times. the one back tire is bald already though, the rubber had deteriorated the way it was stored over the years apparently.

  • that was my brother "wuerp" that wrote that comment under my name.but hopefully he does get the BEAST.i used to have one also.black with blue flames, slicks, the baddest golden arrow in the block.I want another one.

  • you can make it happen! ebays got them all the time. luckily there are still ALOT out there :) you could re create your black, blue flamed monster once again!

  • Yea, man the z is badass!! I gave it to my son for his birthday, and he has been running it in our yard/driveway. Still hasn't even wore off the little rubber knobs on top of the tractor tread on the back tires. What would you give for it?? He wants a savage.

  • The tsauro z I bought off ebay cost me 32 dollars total w/shipping!! It looks mint, no wear on the tires even!! There was a tsauro x on ebay with the original box that had been run only three times. They wanted 35.oo for the car and 15.oo for shipping, and noone even bid on it!!

  • ahh man, good deal for you, great deal for the x too. man i should have been checking. for a while, i was searching tsauro on ebay every day. shouldn't slack i guess. diggin the Z?

  • What is the difference between the Tsauro-x and the Tsauro-z?? They look the same except the x is red.

  • i think they are almost identical except the colors. they could have different motors i guess, but i don't know. i know that my tsauro-z had wax all over the circuit board inside the car, so that it couldn't get wet, and shut down, or suddenly fly full speed into cars and telephone poles and stuff. yeah. pretty much think they are the same car though. the tsauro-z was made in tawain i think, and the golden arrows i bought were made in japan. so the arrows are probably built better.

  • The tsauro-z I bought is supposed to be like new with only minor scuffs. I am waiting for it to be here in a few days(for shipping). What would it be worth if it is in like new condition??? Is it as fast as the golden arrow??

  • probably around 100-130 maybe? maybe up towards 200. they arn't as well known, or popular as the golden arrows. i bought a tsauro-z without a body or a controler for pretty cheap, and it wasn't as fast as the golden arrows. it is geared different. because it has bigger tires, so its geared slower, but the tires make it go faster, so its probably sopposed to be the same speed. but the motors look different, and i think the bigger tires still put more of a load on it, despite the gearing.

  • but when i was a kid, i remember the tsauro-z being so insanely fast. i used to zip around cars driving up and down the road in the trailer park i spent the weekends at. and it even got run over by 2 cars when i was messsing around, and kept on working. think took an ungodly amount of abuse. i still have whats left of it! one time i wired the motor right to the battery, and locked the steering, and would just put it on the ground and set it loose! crazy dangerous thing

  • I just bought a like new Tsauro-Z off ebay!! Does anybody know what they cost new??

  • Awesome man!!! That was my car when i was a kid.

i got my dad to buy me one, and the beast was 150 something. the brand new black golden arrow i bought this summer, thats in this vid, was 200 bucks. never ever used. Fun as shit!

  • Is there no pavement where you live?? Had one when I was a kid. Would like to see one wide open on smoothe surface again.

  • yeah, i know what you mean, i had one when i was a kid, it was a trailer park, and it was mainly all pavement action. crazy high speed stuff too! mine got run over by 2 cars. didn't bother it. did make a flat spot in the one front rim... thats about it. i have a road out by my house, but there are alot of cars on it. i'll see what i can do though, i'll let you know if i get a video up of pavement action with these things.

  • ya me and my dad have a red an da black golden arrows. we got the black number 3 and red number 7. but neways the red one is trash. havent used both of these since i was like 8 im 16 now. all i know is the red ones fronts uspension is broken off. and idk if the engines of both are burnt out or not. or it culd be our batteries that are burnt out. ANY IDEA WHERE WE CAN GET NEW BATTERIES AND BATTERI CHARGERS FOR THESE D: wanna see if they still work.

  • yeah man! just go to your local Radio Shack and they still sell some 7.2 Volt battery packs. and chargers. they have a really good battery and a decent one. i just bought one a few months ago for mine. when i was a kid iused to have a Tsauro-Z. which is the same as the golden arrow, but with a blue body that looks different, and bigger tires. thats why i bought these a few months ago. i couldn't find a tsauro... these are older.

But yeah man, good luck! hope they work.

  • hey man! did you ever go to radio shack and get a charger and battery for you and your dad's golden arrows? Things still work?

  • i have a golden arrow and it runs fine but i was wandering if anybody knows what parts i could mod it with and where to buy them?

  • if you do a search for golden arrow radio shack, you come across 2 vids of this dude's and he put some different things in his i think. you should ask him where he got the stuff.

  • HEY!, i've got a Tsauro-Z have a long time without using it thou!

  • nice, they are the best! any chance you'd want to sell the beast?

  • Oh man your the best....Fucking sweet video....Man im so glade to see it go....Thanks for buying it from me...Make more Video...Oh what video camera are you using???

  • hey man, nice to hear from you. hopefully there will be more vids. the tire with the flat spots is so decayed from age that some of the nubs are just breaking off. we were trying it out in a parking lot earlier today. very far range on the beast. my camera is an old pig, its a Sony DCR TRV-130 from 2000. digital-8MM. pretty high quality actually. normally i use a wide angle lens, but mine was dammaged when i tried to film the sparks coming off of a grinder, so i'm looking ofor a new one.

  • The tires are old.....But man its so good to see it go...And the camera looks really good...Its a keeper

  • lol toys....

  • lol

  • yeah! First view!!!and comment lol. cool... you should find a pavement road and see how fast it will go. does it have a good range?

  • nice, yeah i think thats a plan. the range on the brand new one seems pretty far, i tried driving it really far away in the field, and i couldn't see it too well, but it was still driving, so its pretty good. but the red one has a pretty crappy range because the antenna tube is missing, and the antenna is just tied to the car. but it still works! most of the time in the field, they are just bouncing around!
