I've found that you can get a really good tone for this song by turning the tonewheel(s) right up, playing with a plectrum, using only the neck pickup and playing very close to the bridge

i wanted to add that i think Rourke uses a bass pick sometimes, that swhy his sound is sharp and distinct.
