This was during the 2008 run but Huckabee is just not popular enough to get enough votes. I agree he would be a great president but he needs a lot more support and campaign funding to make it happen, if he even tries to run in 2012.
I'm as poor as one can get at making less than $14 an hour. And yet, I have a nice life with lots of nice things because I live within my budget. I don't have kids and I don't have a car payment. So what's with this business of some people thinking they have the right to someone else's money? If a person is "rich" then it's probably because they were smart and focused and driven to succeed. Savings are surplus after tax income. $20,000 in the bank right now will buy you a $20,000 car (net of existing sales taxes). When this tax goes in, that same $20,000 will only buy you a $14,815 car (assuming 35% fair tax, net of existing sales taxes).

A tax on consumption means that you can give yourself a tax break JUST by saving.
That seems much more "fair" then the tax structure we have now where the government is involved heavily in our income. Income taxes are not constitutional to begin with.
I'm not saying the Fair Tax is bad in itself, but don't forget that income taxes have been constitutional since the 16th Amendment in 1913. Plus, the Fair Tax without a tax cut simplifies things nicely but does little of financial impact.
Ron Paul wants to get rid of the income tax and replace it with nothing. That's a much bigger tax cut than Mike Huckabee is even willing to consider.

There would be no taxes on the necessities of life, like food. Since the poor spend a much greater portion of their income than the rich on necessary products, this is a way more progressive tax than the income tax. It would even prevent irresponsible poors from spending their income on uneccessary products.

Just so everyone knows, churches aren't government funded or anything. The only means of income they have to run their church and feed their families is by member donation. People that donate aren't stupid; they want to further their church and the mission that they believe in. I mean everything opposite of what I said. Church staff DO have to have money to live, regardless of tax exemptions. Churches DO have operating costs. The money needs to come from somewhere. My honest answer on the subject would be that God has spoken against homosexuality. I think with logic we can assume that he doesn't condone gay marriage either. I don't really understand why their are homosexuals in world (as in whether they are born that way or whether they choose) but when God speaks that explicitly about something, I have to obey. I disagree about homosexual relationships' tax status. That is a stamp of approval. Approving something, or remaining silent on it, is saying it is okay, and make you a partaker in the sin.

I agree that consumption taxes are fairer. However, if implmented, how will the government phase this tax in without double taxing anyone who has savings?
Savings are surplus after tax income. $20,000 in the bank right now will buy you a $20,000 car (net of existing sales taxes). When this tax goes in, that same $20,000 will only buy you a $14,815 car (assuming 35% fair tax, net of existing sales taxes).

Note what he said about the "Fair Tax" (there are a lot of things we could call a "Fair Tax" but that term has been stolen for this tax plan):
"It wouldn't be a revenue increase or a revenue decrease--revenue neutral."
In other words, he has no intention of lowering the amount of money Americans have to pay in taxes.

A tax on consumption means that you can give yourself a tax break JUST by saving.
That seems much more "fair" then the tax structure we have now where the government is involved heavily in our income. Income taxes are not constitutional to begin with.

I'm not saying the Fair Tax is bad in itself, but don't forget that income taxes have been constitutional since the 16th Amendment in 1913. Plus, the Fair Tax without a tax cut simplifies things nicely but does little of financial impact.
Ron Paul wants to get rid of the income tax and replace it with nothing. That's a much bigger tax cut than Mike Huckabee is even willing to consider.

There would be no taxes on the necessities of life, like food. Since the poor spend a much greater portion of their income than the rich on necessary products, this is a way more progressive tax than the income tax. It would even prevent irresponsible poors from spending their income on uneccessary products.
Socialists as well as capitalists should be in favor of the fair tax.

Just so everyone knows, churches aren't government funded or anything. The only means of income they have to run their church and feed their families is by member donation. People that donate aren't stupid; they want to further their church and the mission that they believe in. I mean everything opposite of what I said. Church staff DO have to have money to live, regardless of tax exemptions. Churches DO have operating costs. The money needs to come from somewhere. As for the intelligence statement, I was referring to the 6% of Americans who tithe to a church. I personally know some very intelligent and highly respected people and professors that tithe. They aren't idiots, not by a long shot.

Yes, I honestly like (MUCH to my surprise) a lot of what he (Paul) says, but... the parts I don't like and agree with are NON-negotiable. Like Israeli friendship (even though we're trying to sell them down the toilet today. :*( So, no can do and yes, I checked him out.

I dont understand what u mean. On Ron's site he mentions that U.S. intervenes and gives aid then becomes despised. 1 main reason for that is U.S. seems to back Israel 100% and say Israel is the victim in all of the Middle Eastern violence. However, it's a two-way street. But the fact that U.S. gov. supports Israel gov. obviously pisses many groups off. Ron Paul says no foreign entanglement. If this happens under his leadership, and the U.S. stops being so biased, there would be fewer enemies.

Yes, I know about him, and I think that he is right on a bunch of issues. But he is not as likeable as huckabee. I also think that we should stay in Iraq and not have the terrorists follow us home. But I also think we are using too many $50,000 heat seaking warheads and missiles to take out 2 terrorists. I think we should change tactics (which is huckabee's view and spend less money over there.

Off all the candidates, Democrat and Republican, Kucinich and Obama are the most likeable. But the presidency should not a be a popularity contest like high school student government elections. Elections should be based on truth, not how much you make the audience laugh. Iraqi insurgents are trying to get Americans out of Iraq so the people can rule their own nation under their own law. Terrorism is not secluded to Iraq and Afghanistan.

First of all I am not just voting for Huckabee because he is likeable, I believe all of his views. And in Iraq the insurgents are killing each other because they are trying to keep each other from control. And the only reason why this isn't a bigger blood bath (not to mention an international blood bath)is because we are over there securing cities. And it is obviouse terrorism isn't secluded to Iraq and Afghanistan but they are the primary ones that threaten the U.S.

First of all Huckabee isn't going to PAY for the illegals to go to college, he is only ALLOWING them to go to college. And also, what kind of illegal is going to be smart enough to go to college?!?! They are for the most part quite unedjucated. And it isn't a blind support of Israel. Israel has been a key allie in all the major wars we've fought in(and lets face it, we need all the friends we can get over there).

The thing about Isreal is that when we support them all of the money we give them is going to UN officials in Isreal. NONE OF THE MONEY WILL GO TO TERRORISTS. I have researched a ton about Hezbolla (seeing that I have served our country in the middle east for the past 3 years) IDIOT! And there are going to be VERY few illegal aliens that will have the edjucation needed to enter U.S. colleges. I disagree about homosexual relationships' tax status. That is a stamp of approval. Approving something, or remaining silent on it, is saying it is okay, and make you a partaker in the sin.

Just like you are merely assuming the point of life as YOU defined it, you are also assuming you have a natural right to be married when nature dictates that what you may be doing w the same sex is not natural at all..which means you have no natural claim to being married. What is suspect is your statement that Theologians know it was written long after the events..no only LIBERAL theologians ASSUME it was, when their conclusions are NOT based on the best evidence, but based on research that is pre archeological and has an anti-supernatural bias AGAINST allowing evidences that contradict their conclusions.

I agree Mormonism is false, but they don't even present it as objectively true, as they KNOW theres no objective evidence for their claims. They tell you to believe because of a feeling in your bosom when you pray. Christianity says the exact opposite to believe BY looking at the evidence, only believing it because its objectively verifiable, and test all feelings in light of an objective standard. People are as gullible back then if not more so now.

I think you really have little understanding of science and evolution, based on your statements. Science is not perfect, but it open to change and is always searching for new data and information. If a plausible alternative to evolution was presented scientists would abandon evolution, but that hasnt happened. Therefore, science is open minded, religion is dogma.

The essential issue that has Christians have always been united around is THAT God created the universe, its a secondary issue/in house debate on WHEN that took place. Its not a slight of mind answer, it whats called the truth. While he believes the whole Bible, the Bible NO WHERE givesthe date or age of teh earth and the geneologies are NOT meant to be exhaustive, as there are gaps we know of. They were meant to show the peaks or important or relevant people, not EVERYONE in a geneology.

Anyone who reads it and has a critical mind can tell it was written by many people, is repetitive, and inconsistent. Theologians know that much of the narratives were written down long after the supposed events and are unreliable.

How do they do it? Because theyre willing to deal with their issues, not glorify their issues as something good, by living in denial. No the research IS VERY founded, and is based on commonsense. But rather will seek to have people change their way of thinking, seek forgiveness of their own wrongs they personally do, forgive those who wrong them incl.their molestors,and receive healing and support to be able to learn what normal healthy relationships are and how to have them. Fortunatly I have company on my journey. I do not believe our leaders have the right to deny me the same rights because I am gay. I should be able to have the right to inherit from my partner without being sued by his family or allowed to visit him in the hospital as a partner..

I know of no laws that prohibit this..but its one thing to say "I will this and that to someone" and saying I have a natural right according to natural law to be married to someone of the same sex and get familial rights and benefits that can only come from opposite sex marriage unions.

Go to explorehuckabee(dot)com and sign the petition! That would be something! Mike Huckabee is the best debater I've seen in both parties so far. I'd like to see how Thompson performs before I make my decision.

Anal sex is tremendously destructive as while the vagina is designed for penile insertion w its mucus membranes etc, the anus is not set up for that. Its lined thinly and easily rips. I feel a sense of judgement and condemnation from you. Hopefully our leaders will carry the philosophy of seperation of church and state, regardless of thier beliefs. This is an attempt to force people to accept the lifestyle as normal when it is not. I can understand why you feel like Im condemning you because it is an issue close to home for you, but Im not. True our society doesnt support gays. Activism within the gay community is in no way trying to define what is normal. The issues of descriminaion, murder and social isolation becomes a problem. That is what gays are facing. No one asks to be gay, and no one asks to be straight. I believe we should have the same protections legally that straight people enjoy, including the honor of marrying the person we love.

Behavior? Lifestyle? Harmful would be drinking too much or smoking too much. What harm does a person do to themselves by loving another and sharing intimacy? I would never discourage that for anyone. Uh youre obfusicating. Sharing intimacy in the sense you speak entails having a relationship based in a lie, a gender identity disorder that has you being attracted to the same sex, when sex was and is designed for the opposite sexes. If everyone was (and is naturally) hetero life would continue. But if everyone was a practicing homosexual human life would NOT naturally continue. Human life would end in a macro picture.
