  • this is a comedy video

probably a recording of the Portsmouth Sinfonia doing Also sprach Zarathustra set to a john williams video

  • @ObscureAuteur You don't get it, its a spoof, its supposed to sound fake. And lighten up, its just some fun, if John Williams saw this he'd probably laugh.

  • OBVIOUS AND STUPID FAKE., Sound track from a poor student or amateur orchestra under actual Williams footage. Perhaps some of you would like to define exactly what "shred" is supposed to mean. It seems mean misrepresent a competent artist as captured performing badly when in fact the video is misleadingly presented and/or altered. This example is a childish excrescence that says "look at me! I can edit video.", equivalent of defecating on stage and calling it "performance art".

  • @ObscureAuteur The butthurt is strong in this one...

  • @ObscureAuteur Come on, this is hilarious!!! It's obviously fake, but the juxtaposition creates such a funny effect

  • 1:24 :D :D

  • This is a magical video.

  • I could listen to this all day unlike Justin Bieber.

  • the timpani sounds like the guy pounding out the rowing cadence in Ben-Hur. RAMMING SPEED!

  • This is one of the funniest videos on Youtube.

  • L.A. Philharmonic, theme from Jurassic Park.

  • Wich orchestra is playing (in the original video) I don't think this is the Boston Symhpony, I don't recognize any of the musicians. And what were they playing ?

  • Do "John Cage Shreds"

  • @wmlmw Hmm, I did shoot some great footage of a 4'33" performance once, if you look past the fact that I forgot to take off the lens cap.

  • Apparently some people don;t get that this is a JOKE...

  • Take 1!

  • LOL

  • The famous "experimental period" of John's career.

  • This is awesome... I laughed super hard when I heard the whining of the instruments.. Hahahaha... Go John Williams and the 4th grade students... Great job, I loved this one...

  • Jesus.... I didn't read the tags first... I was like... WTF?!

  • This would go great in a movie about elephants.

  • Funny as shit ! Just the title alone brought me here. Good job !

  • 48 people aren't tone deaf.

  • 7th grade band?

  • love the timps sound!

  • Ahhh... the good old memories of my 4th grade band class. This, defines it perfectly.

  • oooh, that's naaasty! haha.

  • It's shit cause it's from Portsmouth, nuff said.

  • long llive Schinttke :PPP

  • lol sounds like a 5th gradeband

  • UMBAREEVABRO.:D :D :D :D

  • IMPOSSIBRU :D:D:D:D

  • lol

  • this is just brilliant

  • HAHAHAHAHHAHA!!!!! BRILLIANT!!

  • WOOOOOOOOOO, WOOOOOO, WOOOAHA, WOAH, that sounds AWESOME, hahahaha, lol. Come on people this sounded so good, hahahaha.

  • many people dont understand the genious that it takes to come up with something like this...only john williams could create such dissonant melodies and turn them into masterpieces like this

  • @TheMiwaro The audio track has nothing to do with Williams. It's Portsmouth Sinfonia (as the description clearly states). Way cooler than Williams' predictable ass, but that's just me.

  • LLOL

  • I just died a bit inside!!!! lol

  • I kind of like it..., it still sparked the light out of me!

  • This looks like Williams' flute concerto...

    (great concerto by the way)

  • LOL I just peed myself

  • @dayofthedave zappa would have loved these

  • Also sprach Zarathustra, all mein Bemühen war frustra! ;))

    That sounds funny to me,hehe!

  • Tears ... streaming down face ... catching breath ... so wonderfully horrible.

  • :D :D :D

Thanks for the really good laugh !

  • Fake

  • @Gandalfgrey93 Well spotted!

  • @Gandalfgrey93

    ........obviously.

  • @Gandalfgrey93 Epic fail.

  • @U2Madrid The century Fail ^^

  • @Gandalfgrey93 enserio? is fake?

  • Comment removed

  • @Gandalfgrey93 great comment on a shred video :D

  • hahahaha sounds like me farting in the morning ^^

  • a masterpiece!

  • At least the drums don't mess up!

  • good joke... it's funny

  • 0:52 had me in tears

  • Sounds like an elementary school concert band. Clearly the video is from something else.

  • I used to play in an orchestra when I was a child and it almost sounded this good.

  • For those of you who don't understand what is going on, look up "shredding".

  • I haven't laughed so much for a long time. If ever I feel down, I'll think of this video. Many, many thanks!

  • mr. williams is a global asset.

  • No words....no words can express the incredible amount of beauty this rendition offers.

  • This is so damn funny. My eyes are tearing from unstoppable laughter!

  • They were recording the Dead Space soundtrack, right?

  • That was the most hilarious thing ever, only because I've been there before.

PS: I like how some people think this is real. :P

  • I saw this last year and laughed really hard. I watched this again this year and kaughed just as hard. Very very funny. I love how John Williams just keeps on conducting. Hilarious

  • this has to be one of the best "shreds" videos :D

  • xaypterodactyl asterix is a pretentious boy.

  • Haahaaaa!! I don't know what I like better.. Your video or your response to xayberoptix.

  • @TheDirtyWind me too

  • ahahahhaahhaha

    STOP AT 0:48

    DEMON !

  • i think this was meant to be an insult to john williams. being an orchestral composer myself, i didn't find this to be very funny at all.

  • 1:14 many many elefants :D :D

  • 1:15 that part is so epic and amazing

  • Comment removed

  • my favorite

  • The Portsmouth Sinfonia is comprised of non-musicians and musicians playing instruments they have never played before. Just so you know.

  • POR FAVOR HAS UNO CON PIANISTAS: COMO DI BLASIO CLAYDERMAN LANG LANG ESTARIA FANTASTICO

  • LOL XD hilarious!!

  • lol. One of the more ambitious shred vids. I think the timpani could have been louder. There's a gag there somewhere. Or was this a dub of an existing piece of music?

  • @IYAMNI Existing piece of music. I must admit, this is actually one of the LESS ambitious shreds out there.

  • @dayofthedave Wait a minute... So the existing piece of music, upon which you based this video, was NOT intended as a joke?

  • Everyone dressed up real nice to play horribly.

  • OMG I cant stop laughing :), sounds like the alien intro.

  • I love how everyone think that this is real and that John William actually did lead this.

  • This is probably the funniest video ever on the internet! Seriously, it made me cry laughing !!! x*D

  • 0:57LOL Wow, just like an elementary band. Haha, trust me I know. LOL

  • needs more Wooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • gutes video wäre echt geil wen sich jemand meldet

  • And your donation to Pubic television will continue to bring you great broadcasting like this. And if you pledge a $100 donation right now we will include a Sarah Brightman pitch pipe.

  • That's the part where "HAL" goes crazy ?

  • Fake, someone added audio to random clip of John Williams with an orchestra.

  • @BassMan1984 What? Really?

  • Hahahahahaha,

Very funny, we covered this version.

We weren't really planning to do that, though. It happened accidentally.

Nontheless, this version makes me laugh everytime, because we covered this song personally even more badly xD

  • Detroit Symphony?

  • This isnt played badly. In actual fact it is a form of avant garde jazz too deep for most people.

  • =)))))

  • i guess a real orchestra was asked to play like crap. What is the name of this piece by the way?

  • @marazm1 Google "Portsmouth Sinfonia" (orchestra) and "Also Sprach Zarathustra" (song)

  • LOL

  • What a great freaking piece!!!! I love the first notes at :21 freaking genius.

  • hahaha, 1:17 sheer class.

  • jjajahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

  • This video gave me a hernia. Having seen 2001 makes it so much funnier.

  • wet my pants laughing so hard

  • john williams looks dangerously close to colonel sanders

  • I didn't know John Williams was into Tool.

  • jhon willaims should of got beter classical music players for this concert

  • To all those that pointed out that this is a fake, well done. How very perceptive of you all. It's meant to be! That's why the info on the video states that it is a parody, muppets!

  • I dig it! Clearly a more experiment phase of John's conducting

  • fake

  • I can't believe that Lucas cut this out of the final score.

  • MY EARS ...MY EARS aaarrrgh

  • I think someone modified this clips. Even the end pops sounds like fake.

  • cant stop laughing !!!!

    jajaja

  • I just died laughin0g.

  • KFC?

  • its fake , yet its not that funny .

  • I cry laughing so hard every time I watch this. I Never learned those John Williams conducting techniques in my college music courses. Hahaha!!!

  • Sounds like a middle school band...

  • jajaja so funnyyyy

  • Is this real? Did John knew they were going to play that bad? Was this part of his plan or something? (sorry for many questions)

  • @GreatBigRiver No, it's not real, just a stunning masterpiece of computer wizardry. I like to think of it as my Avatar.

  • @GreatBigRiver - they dubbed in other audio for a laugh. I just discovered this term "shred" in this context. Look up some of STS's "shreds" of Van Halen, Rolling Stones and Blade Runner - hilarious stuff.

  • @ScottfromTexas

Now I think I know what shred is...and I kinda find this hilarious how John just keeps conducting like that! lol

  • @GreatBigRiver its called shredding and there's lots of these videos about, not computer wizardry more like music overdubbing

  • @GreatBigRiver that is real. if u have a chance for a john william's concert, u will hear that XD

  • @GreatBigRiver really? are you kidding? are you retarded? (sorry for so many questions)

  • i thought that was colonel sanders when i saw the thumbnail

  • Sounds like my old band from middle school...

  • hahahahaahahahh

  • This aint no shredding O_o

  • Awesome ...

  • that's probably how heavy metal sounds to bats. hillarious

  • Where is the elephant, I don't see him?

  • LOL hillarious. All of the "shreds" vids make me laugh so hard my stomache hurts..thankk god for folks with a sense of humor.

  • This is unequivocally the best video I've ever seen in several years of watching YouTube; hats off to you sir :D

  • How the Hell did you do this? this is awesomely insanely funny hahaha

  • @acecepeda Video courtesy of YouTube and whomever originally recorded it, audio courtesy of Rhapsody and the Portsmouth Sinfonia, amazingly extraordinary editing effects courtesy of Windows Movie Maker, spare time courtesy of wife.

  • @dayofthedave great response

  • ive heard this before, i think it was on failblog recently

  • @Guitarsrock342 I like to think that failblogger heard it here first! Anyone who knew what it really was would have rightfully dubbed it a sinfonic WIN.

  • @dayofthedave

"As seen on Failblog" Looks like someone stole content from someone who stole for you.

  • lolololololololol sounds like my high school trumpet section!!!!!

  • This sounds like the marching band I was in during middle school.

  • Miles Davis would have liked this.

  • Once they got too good, players were made to swap to a different instrument - bring back Portsmouth sinfonia!

  • I think the reason people don't get these is because they probably think that by "shreds" it means "messes up" or something. I just don't get how people can take them seriously. Great vid, had me laughing for ages, and the comments had me laughing even longer.

  • very funny man,,i like it

  • Great shreds. I love shreds. It should be recognized as art.

  • even though this isn't really what others consider a shread, it's still really funny. :P

  • I have watched this a few times now, and I always absolutely lose it at 0:34 :D

  • this is funny shit.

  • Sounds like Miles Davis.

  • Arggggg. It's my old school band!

  • @mackthefilet

"I've been on the internet a very long time, about two months or so. I'm an expert in memes, particularly (insert meme here) and this is the worst meme I've found in my period of study. I am an expert of the internet and of the (meme here) and this is simply one of the worst I've seen."

Great job on being an expert on the innernette.

  • how did you make the audio?.. the portsmouth sinfonia cant be this fantastic. im on my 8th listen and im still laughing

  • @pjbaldes Rhapsody

  • All you grumpy motherfuckers need to lay off the criticisms about the details. It's still a funny video. Enjoy it!

  • @ChrisAwesomeson idk why ppl are getting all butt hurt abt this vid, its just funny! lol.

  • Ahahah

  • I really don't get these people farting comments about who precisely should have done what.. Get relaxed, we don't need cocky professors showing off their (questionable) knowledge.

This is hilarious just the way it is, period, no need to be cocky about it!!

  • i prefer this to the original...

  • Another great shredding video of the Killers in on you tube at the moment! - The Killers Shred with Homer Simpson Live!! - VERY FUNNY!!

  • Lol so stupid but very funny

  • BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Awesome!!!!!!!! You guys friggin rock!

  • HAHAHA!!

  • nice ...

  • I love this hilarious!!!!

  • Ok... for those that don't get the joke, "shreds" videos are made to intentionally look/be fake. For instace, "KISS shreds" or "Creed Shreds". It's kinda a given that it's fake. That's the joke, kinda. Anyway... this is hilarious. I love John Williams, and I appreciate his genius. :)

  • very funny
