I have downloated that oe on my psp for cps2 emulation and works perfectly! My only question is though they were releasing this masterpiesce on sega back in those days, why the hell they dont now on a dlc game? For ps3 and xbox! It will go boom and everybody will buy it whats up with capcom anyway?
I remenber this from the arcade and played to death back then. I always do think about buying this for my Saturn but people is complaining about bad loading times, but I really can't see that in Tower of Doom? Shadow over Mystara looks very very nice is must say.
Is the loading times really so bad as people say because I really can't see this?
So I mean you can say at the end of the day you don't want this because you don't like load times or you can't read Japanese (all of which are fair), but that's no reason to badmouth this port. PS2 ports of games of this era have similar flaws. nothing beats the "real thing." You could even spend $400 to get a "supergun" and then a hundred bucks or so for the PCB and play it without emulation, 100% perfect.
well it appears that both arcade machines had a 2 player version (as well as a 3 and 4 player dip switch). so the Saturn version emulates the 2 player versions of these games. Gamespot calls the Sat versions "pixel perfect" for what it's worth (in their review).
They never released it on psone and thats because the damned ps one didnt have enough ram for 2d games, stupid morons of sony.Anyway it was a nice thing that they actualy released those two games in a console. But WHY THE HELL CAPCOM DID NEVER MAKE A CAPCOM CLASICS WHITH THOSE TWO MASTERPIESES WHYYYYYY??
this is my favorite beat em up ever, thansk for the video, although this looks like tghe mame version instead of the saturn versiob, but either way, thanks for the gameplay video, even if your not perfect, at it, neither am i...
How can you tell? Unless it shows the title screen or a screen saying "loading" the Saturn version will look identical to the japanese arcade version... all it was, was D&D:Tower of Doom and its sequel "Shadow Over Mystara" in one set.
well, honestly, the sounds aren't as clear, the graphics, aren't as good, but it's a great game to be able to play at home... so pay no mind to my criticisms, and yes i am well aware that this set has both capcom dnd arcade games....
well I'm assuming you're doing a side by side comparison to say that. Maybe my memory is faulty, but I swore it was "arcade perfect" (apart from the load times) when I played them years ago.
Well actually your wrong. The Saturn version is arcade perfect just like the arcade. I have this game and played it yesterday. This is the Saturn version no doubt. You can also tell by the 'PRESS START' flashing in the top right hand corner. The arcade version would say 'INSERT COIN' in all four corners of the screen as it was four player. The Saturn was only TWO. This is definitely the Saturn port.
Well, the arcade would say "press start" if it were in "freeplay" mode, and there is a dipswitch to make it 2 player, but why would someone go to all that trouble? It's the saturn version for sure. Anyway, again I have yet to do a side by side since I don't have the sat port yet. It's reportedly arcade perfect other than the load times.
take my word that i am sure that i do not see it as a perfect version, but that being said, i would still pick the game up, given the chance, and wish that this didn't require a japaense system...
Well it has nothing to do with laziness... it's not like you have to hop a plane to Japan to get it (ever heard of "ebay")? It's just instead of trying to get it for a reasonable price, you can just download it for free. But then you could download an ISO for free as well. So it's all a question of if you want to OWN the game, or just pirate it. That's what I'm saying. And back in the day if you wanted it this was your only choice unless you could afford the actual arcade
it is about laziness with me i know i could find one online, if i wanted, i just haven't moved on one yet... dunno why... and as far as getting an iso, most sites i hae went to want me to pay for acess to iso's but i'll double check...
The Saturn port is identical to the arcade in every way bar 4 player mode. Saturn is only two. The load times aren't that much. Only about 8 seconds. And you don't need a jap saturn to play this. Is your Saturn switched or is it just standard pal?
i disagree that it's identical, but i still like the home version, and i have a us saturn, and i can't recall the whole ntsc/pal thing, so, i have no clue...
Okay so you have a us saturn. Did you get it modded with a speed switch and country switch/ AR4in1 cart? If so you can play any game from any country at full ntsc speed with no horrible boarders. Its great!
I hate to sound like a nagging mother hen but until you mod your Saturn or play with a modded one you won't fully appreciate or know what the Saturn is truly capable of. Not to mention the wealth of amazing jap exclusive games out there.which never saw the light of day over in the US and Europe. You can get it done cheaply now days around about $50
thanks for the info about the price, i am not sure i will do it, but good to know how much it will run me, is there a certain site you trust over others? and i am aware that there's tons of great jap saturn games, but didn't know there eurpoean ones... hmm...
is that flaming oil you're using at 3:31? Cause i don't remember an item attacking like that. Is it unique to the Rogue?

Well you should be able to run import games using a 5-in-1 Cart for the saturn.
XSC3 2 years ago
true, thanks for the comment, i guess, i am just lazy, and don't want to import, and would rather play it on mame... i dunno why...

i did not get it modded, with the speed switch, it's plain jane vanilla us saturn, and m really not worried about modding it, really...
