I was only 6 or 7 years old when this song came out, but I remember it like it was yesterday. Billy Preston could make that organ sing. Very nive tune from the 5th Beatle.
@Medic83301: Wow how could you include Elton, Billy Joel and Barry and forget King Stevie Wonder, when he and Billy P can play circles around those amateurs??!!
My thoughts exactly and more so I would not dare to mention "those others" in the same breath as Stevie or Billy (except Ray). He who can not see the gulf can not truly appreciate the absolute natural genius of funk, rhythm and soul. I personally think Billy was the best ever keyboardist, hands down! @MortalRon08
Billy and sly were friends around this time and worked in the studio 2gether. Hence Billy playing keys on it's a family affair. Does anybody know if Sly was around for these sessions?
I played this song over and over and over again while sitting at my art table learning to draw Spider-man -- my brother got sick and tired of it and decided to scratch my 45 beyond playability... needless to say, I now have this on vinyl, cassette and cd!
We use to jam on this song back in the day. This was the song! The rhythmic sound of Billy on keyboards and the funk sound of the band was off the chain. This song was Billy's first major hit and his music career took off from that point. He had fantastic showmanship. Unfortunately drugs, alcohol and the scars from his childhood rape took it's toll on him in different ways which eventually lead to his death.
@DCNY31279 I think that the only time colour means anything is when you are talking about COUNTRY or RAP. Rock And Roll is the music that brought all colours together. I am a black musician that was raised on British rock and American blues. Rap has always spoken to me as music of hatred. And country has always spoken to me as music of the KKK
yea. this is a goot one!
