best band of all time, they were the first band I listened to and after 10 years I still listen to them today without getting tired of it, these 2 songs are awesome too
Tender Fury were horrible but had an all star cast including Jack and Todd (R.I.P.) from T.S.O.L, Randy from Pennywise, Hunt Sales from Tin Machine, and Josh Freese from....every band on earth!! No matter how bad a band Jack is in it's still fun as hell to watch. One of the best front men ever!!
DECENDENTS RULE! Pay attention kids Punk Rock Started in So. Bay, California(home of Ascott Speedway). No bands since with the exception of Sublime,Tender Fury and NOFX hold a candle to or paid dues like the Decendents! They played the real Pike in LBC @it's filthiest, scummiest, best point; threw down with bikers and kept jamming. Unless you lived in a van in front of your parents house with nothing but a guitar extension cord and fishing pole you aint punk. PUNK! Frank is cool!
I'm not sure if the NY bands that were playing punk in the early 70's were aware that the music they were playing didn't actually exist until 5 to 10 years later, or the Detroit/Cleveland bands for that matter....
FRANK IS COOL! i never lived in a van in front of my parents' house, and i never claimed to be punk. but--I LOVE PUNK!!! i grew up in the '80s, so i know that the descendents were no longer when milo left in '87. no matter! "sour grapes" and "wendy" are my favorite descendents songs ever!
Whatever you try to classify this band as, the main point is that they rocked and they were ALL about having a good time ALL the time. What else matters?
Now uv started readin dis dunt stop. This is so scary. Send this to 5 ova videos in 143 minutes. When ur done press F6 and ur crushes name will appear on the screen in big letters. This is scary cause it actually works. If u break the chain u will have problems with relations p.s for the next five years x-x
I dunno, they played a show I was at in Calgary 1988 or something. Never A Dull Moment (Local Band) played as well. I was too drunk and stoned to remember much but... well i cant remember. Oh and if Dave Orr or Scruffy or Trent Buhler see this... FUCK YOU
One of several 80s college "smart punk" bands. Besides Descendents and Angry Samoans and Bad Religion. Damn thanks for this vid. Havent seen this clip before.
I listened to Milo goes to colleg everyday in highschool, on the way to school, skating, soccer practice: it didn't matter. If you were fortunate to see them live you experienced a great little secret in the 80's.
is this guy serious?? WTF are u comparing them to blink and sum??? And who are you to say they aren't hardcore? They definately had elements of hardcore from beginning to end. I'd say your an ass clown wannabe know it all youtube douche. I wish I could reach into this comptuter and smack the living shit out of you, five fingers to the face bitch.
They're totally pop-punk these days... I can't even listen to the new crap in spite of them making one of my favorite hardcore albums ever (Milo goes to college). And while they were definitely a hardcore band, how many other hardcore bands were as influential on the new pop-punk bands? (Maybe Bad Religion) I can see how you could draw a line between the Descendents and blink 182 or whatever.
Well, I take that back. That's an interesting question, whether they could be classified as "hardcore" proper at any point. I am going to look into that. I never thought of them as HC, just really solid punk (remember, not all HC=good and punk does not=bad, they're just different genre's)
As Hardcore as they get. Just because they are melodic does not make them Pop Punk. Remember that their drummer is none other than Bill Stevenson of Black Flag fame.
My favorite band... I remember growing up thinking "My favorite band is pop-punk, I'm a nerd." Then the 90s came around and made the Descendents look raw in comparison. But I digress... The Descendents are All.
live footage of the descendents is like gold son. I was to young to appreciate these guys in their prime so I needs as many of live videos as I can get.
Anyone interested in ALL/Descendents bootleg trade? PM me.

Are you talking about Punk? It started in Seattle in the early '60s. The SONICS, the WAILERS, and Paul Revere and the Raiders played there plenty.

no...Descendents came from Southern California. A small South Bay town called Lawndale, Ca. This is south bay punk rock at its best.
If you grew up in and around the l.a county, you know the bands that came from the area.

Dude, they always were punk, and yes, they deserve credit for fathering "pop-punk." Hardcore NEVER WAS their M.O.

Yeah, I think would agree on calling them punk-pop now, but back in the day we called it hardcore. Faster than the punk that proceeded it.
