  • Brian May never played as complex a tune or riff as he was capable of playing. There are many guitarists out there that write very complex music, but in the end Brain May wrote music that sounded great, and thats what's important in music, not just how many notes you can fit in a second.

  • OMG !!! it's fantastic !! Bravo Brian !!!

    Hope

  • nice to see the noted fret-wanker Vai taking a back seat for once.

  • I can't stop bending elastic bands in my fingers ,what can i do?where will i find Dr May's best bending extravaganza?

  • wow!!!! back on 1992 when all these guitarists were at their highest!!

  • I think this was one of Brian's most solid vocal performances.. I wonder why he cut the solo down its so bad ass...

  • don't forget the late and god of all that beats the drum!!!! cozy powell \m/

  • Brian May still rocks the hair :D

  • Some might say he isn't the most exciting or doesn't give his guitarmanship skills the display they fully deserve but there are few guitarists who play live today who can play as tight as Brian May still does & still nail every note without butchering the original sound.

  • A great concert!!!!!!!!!

  • If they'd've cut their hair right then on stage - the world would have imploded from the reverse gravitational pull.

  • How come Steve Vai never took a solo?

  • 4 people understand nothing in music

  • I was there, no hate ;)

  • Holy shit! Steve Vai cooperated?!!! He wasn't obnoxious and didn't do anything ridiculous? I am very impressed.

  • 4 people must be deaf

  • thenoblequran (Ctrl+Enter)

  • guitar gods

  • Brian and Steve are great!

  • yes you drive me crazy nina, but i love you, listen to the song!

  • Brian May is so underrated, there are many guitar riffs and techniques that are really quite complex, so before people just rule him out and say Vai is better and that's that, just take a look at his catalogue properly rather than probably just basing him on the odd common Queen riff, there's lots of amazing guitar work in Queen's songs, and complexity doesn't always have emotion! Some of the simplest of riffs can have maximum effect. May has one of the most unique guitar sounds in music.

  • @mercuryforeva I love Vai, but no one can beat May's harmonies and his tone through the Voxes is epic!

  • I feel like buying a car now.

  • @blondman69xxx people forget about those old Ford ads. After hearing this I wanted to run down to the nearest car lot and buy an Escort!

  • @danspianocovers Haha. "To buy an Escort!" That made me laugh!

  • anyone know who the backing singers are?

  • Brian May - Driven by you:-)

  • this song is not by queen....but by brian, solo project

  • Murray, Powell, Vai, May....all togehter in the same stage....mama mia.....What a monsters!!!! Too much energy

  • who says astrophysicians can't play guitar ? lol

  • toujours aussi super brian may

  • Brian is of luxe!!! and Steve wow! ROOOOCK!!

  • Brian is of luxe!!!

  • Brian May the best guitarist ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Great song and great performance!

    RIP Cozy

  • didn't brian just introduce him as nuno and not steve

  • @edhombre The full intro was cut..Nuno is indeed their also, white frilly shirt.

  • Bellissima...

  • I remember Brian May solo's and his tone with ease! but Vai? don't remember his stuff at all!

  • @Fender1976uk thats cuz your brian is incapable of handling the complexity and beauty that is Steve Vai's solos and tone...don't worry, I will pray for you to be able to understand it one day.

  • I'm sure everyone rather listen to Vai over May? have you paid attention to the last 30 years???

  • @Fender1976uk Did you just try and reply to my comment with a question, and then tried to answer that question with another question?...First off, your comment doesn't make any sense. And second, I never said everyone would rather listen to Steve Vai over Brian May. So what are you trying to get at? And in regards to your '30 years' comment, Vai is no spring chicken. Hes been on the music scene about 8 years after queen...that not a huge difference.

  • driven by you it's not queen's song!

  • where is vai?? :S

  • @GuiltyGearRockYou white shirt

  • @seanthejedi

    no way! thats not vai...

  • @GuiltyGearRockYou yes that is vai lol

  • Happy Birthday to Brian May!! Brian May & Steve Vai - "Everything I do"

  • BUY A FORD!!!

  • ford!!!

  • I loved this show. I had it on VHS for years.

  • great song.....

  • FORD !!!!

  • @chakotay2007 Yup the Escort ad campaign in the early 90s!

  • Driven by you isn't Queen's song! It's a Brian May's song!

  • ça prouve beaucoup de chose sur Steve Vai, il peut à la fois partir dans des solos absolument fous mais également tenir le rôle de backing guitar et de jouer le rythme pour Brian May. Beaucoup de respect pour ce professionnalisme

  • One Month before Freddie's death...

  • Brokenbysilence, I don't know about this being a Queen song....the only Queen member on stage is Brian May!

I know Cozy Powell was never a Queen member, or Steve Vai, and I haven't seen John Deacon or Roger Taylor on stage either.

  • has anyone noticed that Steve ISNT taking a lead solo here? he is absolutely amazing. His rhythm is great.

  • really, what is steve vai doing there?

  • Q temita !!!

  • Its good to see Cozy Powell after all these years since he passed.. R.I.P beautiful people

  • Awesome to see Cozy Powell, few years before his death in 1998!! :)

R.I.P. Cozy \m/, -_- we will miss you

  • did you know brian may's guitar was made by him and his father. i don't think i have ever seen him play any other guitar.

  • he did 4 other times, in the spread your wings, we will rock you, play the game, and in the princes of the universe videos, the first two as he didn't want to expose the red special to the snow, the third as Freddie snatches it off him and throws it back and the fourth for "unknown" reasons

  • @monkeys1954 He play a fender on crazy little call.....

  • maluko!!!

  • That was lame corporate rock, did simon cowell write this?Cue the ford commercial

  • Wow, that was awful... what the hell? Vai playing rhythm guitar??

  • True but he will always come second to Brian May, I think they are both awsome though

  • I have a Red Special! Sounds awesome!

  • Me too. Welcome in the club :)

  • Where did you buy it? i can't find it at the guitar center or musicians friend websites

  • Eh, it was the early 90s. Just enjoy the cheese of it. (It helps that the music is awesome.)

  • @GuillermoSmyser you are talking fucking shit man...

  • guys please don't fight and just listen to the music

  • @GuillermoSmyser yeah they way too mellow

  • RIP Cozy

    Brian - my hero <3

  • My good Steve!! What went wrong???? (With all do respect to Mr. May)

  • this is the first time steve vai has ever BEEN cockblocked!

  • if brian may got a strat instead of the fireplace (i think that's what it's called) would he be playing strats for the most of his time?

  • I dont understand what your asking, but its a red special, and its a copy of a guitar he made when he was a kid.

  • im just curious what would it would be like had he gotten a different guitar than the red special.

  • Ohh, no idea tbh.

  • That solo is Kick Asss!!

  • R.I.P. Cozy Powell!! :(

  • Cozy Powell RIP

  • I think it says a lot about Steve Vai, that even when he can go absolutely crazy into solos and all, he can just take backseat here and play rhythm for Brian May. Respect for real musicianship!

  • @lukeliu You're right !

  • @lukeliu That's experience, (he played with some other maniac for years lol )

  • @lukeliu

you're so right.. respect for this comment

  • @lukeliu totally, absolutely right.

  • beautiful!!!

  • By the Vai ... way, this is not May ... may be - but surely one of the best songs of Brian's solo album :).

  • By the Vai ... way :), May ... may be it's been noticed here but it's good to mention, that "Driven by You" is a song from Brian's solo album "Back to the Light" from 1991 - the 3rd track I think. The album is great.

  • Brian's incredible, no doubt about it. But in terms of technicality, I think Steve's got him beat.

Not that that makes anybody's music less amazing, just the fact that Steve is technically better than Brian.

  • Brian May can put solo in any song and it will still sound great

  • That's true, but that's just the mark of a good guitarist.

  • @TheMateoGuitar Yes, he has a great touch. He listens to the song and plays nicely not just shreding.

  • @TheMateoGuitar

Steve Vai ist hundred times better, but in a other way...

  • @JAustinMunn just because he is technically better than brian doesnt make him a better guitarist. Infact Brian is better musician dont get me wrong now Vai is an awesome guitarist but he bores me easily while Brian doesnt.

  • @narutoguy56 I totally agree. Who is technically better is easy to determine, but after that it's left to debate.

  • I respect your comment and to be honest I haven't seen much of Steve, but Brian really is an incredible musician and a great crowd goer. Also his solo's are great!

  • what ever happend to the 70-80's???

  • i think it was in the 92´

3:17 it seems to say exp...92 on the wall

  • I began to play the guitar due to Brian, but my favorite guitar man is Steve Vai! The best of all times in my humble opinion.

  • I thought this song was a solo Brian May song, not Queen.

  • Yes, it is. It's from the Back to the light album. A May solo album.

  • Ummm Nuno???

  • omg! first time there was no soloing from steve vai?! ;O

  • is there a dvd of this somewhere

  • brian u did qUEEN JUSTICE ON THE X FACTOR!!!!!

(jedward were just taking the mic)

  • lov u brian <3

great song, i wish some of the music we have nowerdays was as good as it was back then.........

    and hell im only 12 ! ! !

  • murry is a hell of a bass player he works and drives every thing he playes on.

  • guess its personal taste ha ha , dont get me wrong brian may has a individual tone just never liked there music thats all. claptons graet blues player but overrated in my opinion, robert crays the real deal or no deal ha ha

  • what were they saying in the beginning about nuno betterncourt? got me all excited that it was gonna be the three guitarists....

  • Never met any body that actually hated them or at least would admit it .you could be killed for saying such a thing where I live . I hate eric Clapton and keep it quite for the same reasons. lol

  • to correct the video uploader. Driven By You was a Brian May solo song, not a Queen song.

  • pretty good song

  • Yeah. Usually people don't go this far off topic until the vid hits a couple hundred thousand views.

  • lol yeah xD

  • just curious..why isnt ur username GibsonPrsFenderJackson1980?

  • Cause. I have owned or and played only Prs, Fender,Jackson(pre fender buy out), Dean, Music-Man, Esp Standard. So I decided on PrsFenderJackson1980. Besides using every guitar company in my youtube name would have been annoying......just alittle bit more.

  • i dnt mean to suck ur dick..but i do believe u are cool!..

  • Jesus Christ.

Here we are listening to a great rock song... and we've got guys bickering over the microphones on view.

    You've gotta laugh.

  • Whats that about Nuno?!!!!

  • Is he using a Shure sm58? Probly not. This is old. Great stuff, one of his better songs from his solo album.

  • 58s been around since the 60s. Shit then, shit now. Suppose it doesn't break when you drop it though, it's saving grace.

  • Yes... shit... thats why proffessional and amateur musicians alike use them more frequently than any other microphone in the world.

  • Hmm, is it cheap? Yes. Does it break often? No.

That's the only reason it's popular.

No self respecting studio would ever use one.

  • Maybe not, but its used extensively for live performance, where it holds up. Brian May, Steven Tyler, Sara Bareilles have all used it... For some reason you have an angry grudge against it, or do you just hate everything shure?

  • You realise Brian is on lead because its HIS song???? Vai's solos will NOT fit the Brian/Queen sound, hence why Brian is on lead.

  • a guitarist isn't just defined by their solos.

  • Expo Sevilla 1992, Guitar Legends was called the Show. Organized by Brian May.

The worlds bests Electric Guitars were there.

  • What was this show?what an awsome line up as well.May and Vai.speechless.

  • It is wierd that Vai is playing rhythm and May playing lead.

  • why is it? both play lead and rhythm on their own stuff.

  • May and Vai, I'm in heaven :)

  • right xD

  • the backing singer by the camera is a bloke ...brian isnt a fantastic singer live cause he sings high but he does a fucking excellent job here..rock on steve vai...im only joking bout the backing singer

  • I saw him open for Guns and Roses in 1993 in Boston with Nuno and Gary from Extreme it was like having a piece of the tribute for Freddie , they did the same songs they did at the tribute ,It was Amazing.

  • qien dice "ohh" al 1:08 de cancion? brian (LL

  • awesome... imgaine this with Freddie's voice

  • For Brian's songs, I prefer HIS voice. Ever hear Freddie sing '39? Ew.

  • great performance!,i saw all the concert in tv once,it was amazing,i love this song and twice good with all this all star line up...

by the way, like hooplemott,i'm in love with the blonde backup singer close to the camera

  • You're drunk. He's done a lot worse than this, live. He sounds pretty much the same as the album here, with a couple of rough notes...

    Man!

  • bellissima!

    good song!

  • those are the same singers from the Mercury tribute....

  • Oh, I like this song. I've tried to download it several times, but it doesn't work?! Shame...

  • his voice... i have a bootleg and it's not the same, is it re-processed anyway? love brian!

  • where is this at?

  • sevilla - spain

  • Who is the blonde nearest the camera... I am in love!

  • I might be wrong but I think her name is Mirriam Stockley? she also appeared on Mike Oldfield Mellenium bell concert dvd in Berlin for the song 'moonlight shaddow'.

The SM58 is one of the best all round mics ever althought it looks like a 'beta58' he's using.
