Your hamster is so energetic! My hamster just sits in the same spot all day, but I let him outside of her cage to run around and he actually runs fast ??? LOL] But considering this was made 3 years ago I assume she died so R.I.P hope she lived a long and happy life... if shes not dead yet your a very good owner !!
I'm looking to buy some cheap rotsak cage bits for my hamster when i get a boy 1 but the babys will go in the new cage and i'll have my cousins old cage for the boy 1
I don't like the cage, the tubes look narrow, the space around looks very small so the hamster have no choice but to keep on going around the tubes because "those non-tubes areas" are too small for its size
omg how long did it take to get all the stuff? i've been wanting to do something like that for a long time and i dont have very much to start with yet.
This all disassembles into smaller pieces. All of it would fit into three or four carrier bags, when taken to pieces and Gucci and Prada would travel in their little travel-sized cages. I've never had to take it all apart at once, because I've never had to move, since I've had them. Gucci and Prada have never had to see a vet, the only traveling they've ever done was coming home with me to my house!
In her cage, Jazzy had two types of bedding; Paper pellets and carefresh (in her little house, which is snugglier than the pellets.) None of these was meant as food and she didn't ever nibble on them. Her food is the biscuit and seed mix that you can see at 0.44/ And in case you're wondering why there are no paper pellets at in the cage where she stored her food, I always put bedding in every cage...
But if she didn't want it there, she'd move the whole lot into another cage, using her cheek pouches, in a matter of 1/2 an hour or so. You can set out items in your hamster's cage, but they will choose their own layout and no amount of changing on your part will convince them to change their ways! Jazzy was very particular, that way!
If you don't believe me about this, take a look at 0.28. That is a potty with a pink base and clear lid. I always cleaned it out, pilled it with litter and put it back in...but within about ten minutes, jazzy would have kicked out the toilet sand, and turned it over on it's roof. Every single week of her life she did this and I could never pursuade her to stop doing so! LOL!
Some of the cages (the older ones) have impaired air circulation, but I've got extra holes drilled in those (I got help from my Dad, who's a engineer and knows about these things!) and also I've got a rotating fan in their room, that helps get the air moving and keeps it fresh. Every couple of days Gucci and Prada are taken out, I open up the whole lot and turn the fan on high, so any dampness is blown out of the system.
Over the course of 13 years, I suppose it has, because it is an expensive brand...But most of it is second-hand, so that has helped costs and none of it has had to be replaced, so I look at it as a good investment.
That's a Rotastak brand water bottle...The only quibble I have with them is that they are small, I'd rather they be bigger, but since you should change the water everyday, then I suppose that even a syrian wouldn't drink all of that in one day...
For my gils, playtime is all the time! Lol! But seriously, I'm very careful to ensure that my hamsters stay safe. I've kept many generations of hamsters in these cages and have never had a hamster even slightly injured, let alone worse.
No, mine can get up verticalladders on their own, now, but they've always been able to climb steep gradients on their own. Now they climb the vertical tubes on their own.
obv once this hamsters passed on youll get a new one but arnt you ever worride you might get one thts to fat and gets stuck please reply cos i got a rotastack cage and im getting hamsters
I've never had a hamster grown too big for the tubes, but I do know that occasionally you can end up with a hamster that grow enormous! My friend had one like this, who grew to be the size of a baby guinea pig! It was very funny! He was just a kid, so this thing needed two hands to hold it and its tail still stuck out at one end! Lol! But luckily that has never happened to me!
If it did, I'd just convert one of my tanks (I keep fish) into a vivarium, with loads of bedding and driftwood to climb on! Whatever is best for my hamster!
I did have a few escapes to begin with, but soon I learned exactly what you can/can't do with Rotastak.Habitrail tunnel locks are more stable than Rotastak tunnels, but are more fiddly to put together.
Habitrail is more economical, but Rotastak lasts longer and is easier to connect togther. I reccomend that with dwarfs, you start out with someting like the habitail mini, then extend beyond one cage as they get stronger and more confident.
When I first got my two winter white dwarfs, I had to put everything on one or two levels and use mouse ladders extendng only one floor. It took them a little while to learn and build up their strength and during this time I had to watch them very vigilantly. I put food and water in every cage, so they wouldn't go hungry or thirsty if they got too scared to move out of one cage, but thankfully that never did happen. They best of luck!
Sorry, I couldn't tell you, cos I've bought it over the course of 13 years, as I could afford it. I do reccomend buying good-quality second-hand pieces through Ebay, as this helps keep the costs down, but Rotastak is one of the more expensive brands (but also the longest-lasting, in my opinion.)
No, I use a rota so a couple of cages and some tubes get cleaned each day. Everything is done at least every ten days, but more often around every seven days.
Like a schedule. I have cages that need cleaned more often, as the hamsters seem to prefer eating and pooping in them! The others I clean regularly, but not as often and the main living cages. All in all, it's not too taxing, even with having a demanding job that keeps me busy.
Give your hamster more space and more things to do. Mine love whole, unshelled nuts, like hazelnuts. It keeps them occupied and they get the food reward at the end of it. I also get these 'snackboxes.' Food treats are hidden inside a cardboard box and the hamster can smell it through little holes in the box & have to chew through to get to the food. I get these little 'bark bites,' pieces of wood from fruit trees. They love 'working' for their food, as they would in the wild.
hey my hamster is chewing on the wire on the cage is there a way to stop it from doing do i just need to buy more chew toys or what... oh by the way is there a way to stop a hamster from putting food in its wheel?
So far, I haven't discovered how to stop a hamster from storing in a certain place. If a hamster just doesn't want something in a certain place (like Jazzy with her cage litter) she will not stop moving it. The same with food. One of my dwarf hamsters now stores food in her wheel and one of my old syrians used to sleep in his toilet! I just gave up and bought him another toilet, because there was no way to persuade him to use his little house!
I've had chewing in a couple of small tubes and one piece called the diningroom, where the food drawer didn't close flush with the rest of the piece. But I figure that over more than 10 years of use, and countless generations of hamsters, that's actually pretty good! I've never actually lost a hamster that escaped, but I have found a few that managed to get out!
i ahd that problem with my dining room i bought it second hand it came chewed after having it a few months i was cleaning it and i was holding a stak of about 4 of them and i dropped them and the dinningroom on top and another starter kit smashed on the floor forntunalty i could fix the starter home but the dinning room was in 1 millon pieces
This is years of collecting! I'm now nearly 26 and I began to collect when I was 12 or 13 and bought a couple of pieces a year, as I could afford them. This stuff is great because given proper use and care, it lasts for years and years!
Try feeding them from your hand, only. Time consuming, I know, but if they come to associate you with the enjoyable act of eating, they should stop biting you (which they probably do because they are scared.)
Slowly, begin to stroke them as they eat, building it up slowly until them are eating in your hand and you are able to close your hand gently around them. Get them used to the contact with you very slowly. The best of luck! Let me know if it works!
interesting lol i'de love to live in there oh and btw im supposed to be gettin a hamster but we don't know where to buy one so please help someone thanks xxx
Try googling for animal rescue centres in your area. They often have a lot of hamsters, some very young, who arelooking for good homes. I was going to do this, but a friend contacted me first, when she found a mother hamster with 3 babies abandonned in a cage near her house. Ppl think it is cute to breed them, then freak when they realise how much responsability it is...Such a shame!
Good news! Meeting with my friend is set up for tomorrow and by the end of the day, I should have a couple more videos of my two brand new hamsters! Check back then!
aww..i'm sorry to hear that.. i used to have a hamster as well..i love hamsters..Jazzy sure was adorable :) btw, you make very amazing "mega-homes" very impressive ^_^ i cant wait to see the new hamsters..best of luck!
I'm afraid that Jazzy passed on around six months ago. She was a good age (more than two years) and never really had any major illness, right up until she died, so I am confident that it was just old age that got her. One night I noticed that she was slower, but still perfectly happy, just not her usual self. The next day I found her curled up in her bed, already gone :(
I've still got all of my Rotastak equipment and have even set it all up again, because I anticipate getting another hamster soon. Check out my profile to see what it looks like! :)
You usually can't find it outside Europe, but I can get pieces where I live in Asia by ordering over Ebay. It is 'freakin expensive' if bought from new and I've been collecting it since I was about 12 or 13 years old (I'm 25, now!) Also buying good-quality, second-hand pieces from online places like ebay wil help cut down the cost. You can buy large lots of stuff all in one go, for cheaper shipping and good savings. All the best in your pursuits!
Jazzy slept most often in that Kidney-shaped room with the yellow lid, but she also loved going down that curly tube to use the running wheel in the Habitrail Safari unit (where the clip starts out.) She prefered the silent habitrail wheel to some of the others, which squeeked if they were not greased well with vaseline.
No, the two units she spends the most time in were cleaned out every week. The others are less often, maybe every ten days. But I have a rota system, so it's not all cleaned at once. I also took Jazzy out and opened the cage doors every day, before turning the fans in high, just so that the air could circulate and to get rid of any damp air inside the whole unit.
Also keep in mind that Jazzy was completely toilet trained. The little potties that she used were cleaned out every two days, so that the whole lot of cages didn't stink of pee!
Her potties got cleaned every three or so days and she had two or three, spread about. Also, the Rotastak really does clean well and as long as you don't use abrasive cleaning products, they can last for years. Some of mine is more than 12 years old! I think it's a great investment and has provided luxury to many of my hamsters, over the years! Bought my latest piece just the other day, so I'm waiting patiently for it to arrive! Once I get all set up again, I'll be posting some more vids!
It is rather easy to clean. I do one cage per day or every couple of days (some cages seem to be used and dirtied more quickly than others,) so overall, the whole lot gets cleaned every 7-10 days. Also, Jazzy was potty-trained at a young age (hamsters are by nature clean animals, so this is not too hard to do,) and so that made cleaning easier.
how long did/does it take you to clean that thing? i used to have gerbils in a rotastak cage with only three rooms and a little bit of tubing and it was a complete pain in the ass to clean. i eventually gave up on it for that reason and went back to an aquarium full of wood shavings (which i think the gerbils preferred anyway)
Yes, cages like this are not suitable for gerbils, because they are such notorius chewers. Think they tend to prefer the aquarium set-up, but I've never kept them myself...
I've been keeping hamsters (syrians and dwarfs) for more than 10 years, in Rotastak and other types of cages and Rotastak is better suited to the larger hamsters, not the small dwarfs. I have never had a syrian get trapped or injured in a Rotastak cage. I tend to use cages with smaller accessories and designs for my dwarf hamsters.
The brand Rotastak is produced by Armitage Ltd. It is one of the more expensive brands on the market, but I've had some of it for more than ten years. Given good care, it will see you through generations of hamster. If you'd like to find out more about it Google 'Rotastak' and if you are interested in buying, bt do not live in Europe, take a look at Ebay. I just ordered and recieved a piece of Rotastak from there...Also, you can find cheaper prices tere, than buying right off the shelf.
I'm going to give myself time to grieve, because Jazzy was one amazing hamster. But when the time is right, I'm going to reassemble all of the houses and adopt a couple of hamsters from my local SPCA. I think Jazzy would have approved of it! :)
Just an update! I do still plan on adopting some hamsters from my local SPCA, but at the moment I am about to start a new job, so I think it best to wait until I know what my schedule is going to be like, before I commit myself to two new pets. After all, a pet is for life, even if a short one. I want to be able to give them all the attention they can stand! :)

I'm so glad that I loaded up these clips, now...Poor Jazzy passed away, just last Thursday! :( She had a long and happy life that was virtually unmarred by any kind of illness...Hope she's happy in hamster heaven, now! Thanks for any comments you might choose to leave!

123ilizzie 3 years ago

More than they'll ever get bored of, that's for sure! Watch this space; more vids of even bigger hamster mansions to come, later in the year!

This is years of collecting! I'm now nearly 26 and I began to collect when I was 12 or 13 and bought a couple of pieces a year, as I could afford them. This stuff is great because given proper use and care, it lasts for years and years!

thanks i got two hamsters now but how do i stop them from biting me coz they do that and there chinese dwalf hamsters
babyperfection259 3 years ago

Ppl think it is cute to breed them, then freak when they realise how much responsability it is...Such a shame!

is jazzy alive?
Bubblegum0234BABE 4 years ago

All the best in your pursuits!

i live in calgary , where did u buy all this and was it freakin' expensive??

what the most common room jazzy uses in her home??
jennabear1 4 years ago
Jazzy slept most often in that Kidney-shaped room with the yellow lid, but she also loved going down that curly tube to use the running wheel in the Habitrail Safari unit (where the clip starts out.) She prefered the silent habitrail wheel to some of the others, which squeeked if they were not greased well with vaseline.

How are you supposed to clean that out once a week!?
ShuttleDiscovery 4 years ago
No, the two units she spends the most time in were cleaned out every week. The others are less often, maybe every ten days. But I have a rota system, so it's not all cleaned at once. I also took Jazzy out and opened the cage doors every day, before turning the fans in high, just so that the air could circulate and to get rid of any damp air inside the whole unit.
HMPrincessJazzy 4 years ago
Also keep in mind that Jazzy was completely toilet trained. The little potties that she used were cleaned out every two days, so that the whole lot of cages didn't stink of pee!
HMPrincessJazzy 3 years ago
Her potties got cleaned every three or so days and she had two or three, spread about. Also, the Rotastak really does clean well and as long as you don't use abrasive cleaning products, they can last for years. Some of mine is more than 12 years old! I think it's a great investment and has provided luxury to many of my hamsters, over the years! Bought my latest piece just the other day, so I'm waiting patiently for it to arrive! Once I get all set up again, I'll be posting some more vids!
HMPrincessJazzy 4 years ago
It is rather easy to clean. I do one cage per day or every couple of days (some cages seem to be used and dirtied more quickly than others,) so overall, the whole lot gets cleaned every 7-10 days. Also, Jazzy was potty-trained at a young age (hamsters are by nature clean animals, so this is not too hard to do,) and so that made cleaning easier.
HMPrincessJazzy 4 years ago
how long did/does it take you to clean that thing? i used to have gerbils in a rotastak cage with only three rooms and a little bit of tubing and it was a complete pain in the ass to clean. i eventually gave up on it for that reason and went back to an aquarium full of wood shavings (which i think the gerbils preferred anyway)
khalithistle 4 years ago
Yes, cages like this are not suitable for gerbils, because they are such notorius chewers. Think they tend to prefer the aquarium set-up, but I've never kept them myself...

I HAVE THE SAME CAGE!!
KeanaNicoleSioson6 4 years ago
I've been keeping hamsters (syrians and dwarfs) for more than 10 years, in Rotastak and other types of cages and Rotastak is better suited to the larger hamsters, not the small dwarfs. I have never had a syrian get trapped or injured in a Rotastak cage. I tend to use cages with smaller accessories and designs for my dwarf hamsters.

(")_(") that a big cage
vince0o7 4 years ago
The brand Rotastak is produced by Armitage Ltd. It is one of the more expensive brands on the market, but I've had some of it for more than ten years. Given good care, it will see you through generations of hamster. If you'd like to find out more about it Google 'Rotastak' and if you are interested in buying, bt do not live in Europe, take a look at Ebay. I just ordered and recieved a piece of Rotastak from there...Also, you can find cheaper prices tere, than buying right off the shelf.

can u please please please tell me where u bought cage and which store ?

I'm going to give myself time to grieve, because Jazzy was one amazing hamster. But when the time is right, I'm going to reassemble all of the houses and adopt a couple of hamsters from my local SPCA. I think Jazzy would have approved of it! :)
HMPrincessJazzy 4 years ago
Just an update! I do still plan on adopting some hamsters from my local SPCA, but at the moment I am about to start a new job, so I think it best to wait until I know what my schedule is going to be like, before I commit myself to two new pets. After all, a pet is for life, even if a short one. I want to be able to give them all the attention they can stand! :)

So sorry about your hamster though. do u still have the cage and are you going to get another hamster?

I'm so glad that I loaded up these clips, now...Poor Jazzy passed away, just last Thursday! :( She had a long and happy life that was virtually unmarred by any kind of illness...Hope she's happy in hamster heaven, now! Thanks for any comments you might choose to leave!
