Thanks for this video!!! I used this translated in greek for my school project!!! Would you like to create a new vid with windows 8 when they released??
I started with 3.11 but having used Macs found the interface really weird. I had to get a PC for uni. Win95 fixed the interaface and made it mich more logical like a Mac. Win98 was still buggy for me and every year I had to do a fresh install to speed things up again (bloat). Win XP I have used since it came out and only had one Virus that wrecked my install. Apart from that it runs good as the day I installed it. My Dad brought a new PC with Visa - horrible! Win 7 I have tried but XP just works
Just think - the changes from Windows 1 to Windows 7. The style, features, and the way they work. Then you'll know how far Microsoft came with Windows. I think that Windows 7 is by far the best OS by Microsoft.
Windows 1.0 Beta, W Chicago, W NT 5.0 (beta2), W Neptune, W Whistler, W Longhorn and W Server Longhorn never released ... epic fail, not mention Vista xD
The reason why Windows 2000 was NT based is because Windows NT 5.0 was the beta, and 2000 was supposed to be called NT 5.0. It was called 2000 because, well... 2000!
Actually, even though Vista was codenamed Longhorn, there was originally going to be a OS that was called windows Longhorn. Search it on Wikipedia or Google to find more about it.
The thing is many of the operating system were unsafe, like,
Windows 2000,Windows Me,that was due to the millenuim virus,Yet so was vista,it was always failing, that is one reason why Windows 7 was brought along, windows xp,98,95,i have my home computer running on 98 its never fail a few updates but still going, windows xp very safe, on my laptop i have xp,windows 95 used to have it but no longer used, very reliable,
Im very looking forward to windows 7,but i dont make youtube videos
at 1:27 it says 603904K in disk space free. Is this 600mbit? or mbyte? I'm thinking its mbit. because 600mb in 1987 would be astronomically expensive wouldn't it? even if it were mbit wouldn't this be 75mb? Even 75mb in 1987 is unheard of maybe 75mhz processor with 20mb and 8k memory sounds like top of the line at the time, but yea any thoughts???
I got that image of Win 2 as a screenshot from a friend of mine(because a copy of Win 2 is so hard to find), and he says he used a Virtual Machine to run it on his newer computer. I don't know if it actually had 600MB free space, but he didn't use a computer from 1987, so, it's possible.
I don't like Vista because XP runs circles around it when it comes to speed. I'll stick with XP until it's no longer secure, then I'll switch to Windows 7.
I have a Pentium IV with 1.8 ghz cpu over 1.5 gigs of ram and a 512 MB video card. Vista with classic theme runs SLOWER for me than XP with the default Luna theme. Even after I disabled all the eye candy.
yeah ur right im gonna upgrade to windows 7 soon because its WAY better than xp and vista combined. vista is fast if u have a multi core processor-- otherwise its as slow as a turtle
It's very hard to find a good video or even recap of the Microsoft OS history. Spectacular work!
To be completely honest, 98 was my favorite for a long time and I am only 14. It was the first OS i ever used and since i was about 5-8ish when I used it, it's surprising XP isn't my favorite since it's where I gained all the knowledge I currently know about computers and what I'm currently running. As of very recently, I fell in love with 7 after only a couple days of using it.
Indeed close to the same story with me on 98; I can do ANYTHING with 98. Install a DVD drive, work a new skin into it; anything. First Windows OS I used was 3.1; I was 4. lol. As for Windows 7; it's fantastic, but I don't like how they stripped it of all the programs and put them for download on their site; and I don't like the superbar(new taskbar) very much...
I disagree with your Win 7 opinions. Since half of all people who will use Windows 7 will not use most of those programs, I think it is a good call on Microsoft's part. Instead of having extra features which may never be used, they can take them out and have a smaller overall size for the OS to begin with. I don't think it was a good idea for them to remove the mail client though.
As for the superbar, it depends on your taste. I personally think it makes a lot of things easier, but it's ugly

I am not sure why, but why did NT 3.x, NT 4/5 Beta have the MS-DOS Logo on the Command Prompt?

When having a line-up like that, you can really see where Windows took their ideas from.
Windows 1-3 seems to be borrowing designs from X System and Mac OS
XP's look was made in response to OSX, which had eye candy all over it
Vista's Gadgets seem to be a shameless complete copy of OSX's Widgets
Windows7's taskbar is incredibly similar to KDE1.0, I mean, really, REALLY similar
Protected memory is probably the best thing that came out of Windows.
