I first saw this on ITV when staying at my grandparents house on a boring rainy weekend. I was about 7 or 8 years old then, and quite frankly I thought it was fucking quality. I've grown up to become a self-confessed snob of crap movies like this, but Biggles will always be a guilty pleasure of mine!
Well I wish they remade it but make so it's based on the books not on the producers imagination but BIGGLES HAS TO BE BRITISH same with algy and Ginger
lol Nice, i can't believe I've never heard of this before as well! B-movie version of Back to the Future with Peter Cushing in!! 'One step, back in time'...that song was growing on me as well.
just watched it on dvd yesterday after way to many years, this movie is so much fun, perfect eighties! an absolute must see, if you love the wicked stuff!:)
ahh the old ones are the best...i saw a movie an anime movie in the 80's called "masters of time" or "les Maitres du temps" a french film dubbe in english about a boy called Piel....EVERYONE whos seen it wants a copy of the english dub...and i got it..its rarer than batmans shit!
@fakweet It's a Bergmann MP18, which was designed during WW1 and hit production in late 1917 / early 1918, around the time the WW1 parts of this film are set. :)
@SPeacock Thats really interesting. I didn't know submachine guys were around in WW1. Did the allies have an equivalent to the mp 18? I wonder if the Germans had developed sub machine guns earlier if it would have affected the outcome of the war?
@fakweet As far as I know, the Allies didn't have an SMG equivalent to the MP18. They had a SAW called the Lewis Gun (much like the M249 and M60 machine guns of today).
I saw this when it first came out. Cool to see something from my past. Most people have never heard of it on this side of the pond. Great movie. Still like the helicopter going back in time.

Last film that I saw at our old cinema before they pulled it down. Can't help wondering if this film inspired the TV series "Quantum Leap".

I remeber this one movie it was a great disappointment if you read the Biggles books growing up. But it's worth a few laughs.
I did like the soundtrack though... back in the 80s that is. :)

Why does Biggles have a Sten submachine gun which was invented in world war 2?
fakweet 2 years ago
I don't think historical accuracy was a major consideration when they made this film :o)
