This and Heaven by Warrant are the only hair band power ballads that have stayed with me all these years later. I'm a true metal head, but this always reached me.
Jack Russell has such a beautiful voice..met them many times when they used to play at the Birch Hill in NJ. I love Great White and I miss the eighties like crazy...good music, good times.
When I was a young girl my dad and I would always go to my mothers Rx 7 and listen to this song. I absolutely loved it and called it my angel song. Well not so long after that my parents divorced and my dad stopped talking to me... You never know how much a song can mean to someone:(
@XSkittlezDinosaurX I would never do that too my daughters but sometimes divorce hurts too much and we punish the ones we love for no reason. Reach out to him dont wait too long.....
@TheTruthseeker59 that may have been '87-88. they toured together when whitesnake started headling the u.s., following their opening stint with motley crue in '87.
unfortunately, we don't get to see many great tours like that now.
I partied with them on their tour with Night Ranger. The drummer stole my necklace off of me.. Audie.... lol.. Got Michael's autograph and also met a great love who had brought me to their 'motel and bus get together', 1987 was the year....
This is the song that introduced Great White to me and I have been a huge fan ecer since. They are a great band, their live shows rock, their music has actual substance. They got sort of ripped off - they should have been a lot bigger than what they were. When you talk about Great White, most morons think they were a 1 hit wonder w/Once Bitten - far from the truth. My faves are this song, House of Broken Love and Old Rose Motel. I really miss them.
@NIKKI42303 Tell me about it! I've been aching for the late-80s recently. Wish I could head right into a time machine and stick myself back there for a while.
Classic! I was a teenager in the 80s and remember watching this video for the first time on the Headbanger's Ball, most likely sitting with my guitar in my lap... ah, the good old days :) Hey please check out my latest video - it's a collaboration put together by me and several other musicians paying tribute to Great White by performing their hit "Lady Red Light" as a virtual band (we even have a hot chick in it, just like the 80s LOL). I hope you enjoy it! :)
I was in a coma for over 2 weeks... my husband had a loop of this song made and it was played for me. The first time it was played they say I had tears for the first time and was awake within hours. Now that's good music for you. Thank you to my husband and of course to Great White : )
This band, the members, their songs, has and forever will touch my mind, my soul, my heart, so many times in life, it seems as though Greatwhite has written the sound track to many pivotal moments in my life, it was great seeing greatwhite this summer makes over two dozen times, each one better than the last....
41 and still listening. Have only heard one or two bands in the last 20yrs that could hope to compare to the bands of the 80's. As they say "Often immitated, but never duplicated"
When I was in the Navy, I was on Treasure Island, San Francisco Bay, I used to sit on the rocks outlining the island writing in my journal listening to Great White. They were very instrumental in my career and life..I love this band. I saw them in Chicago with White Snake! Awesome! This song brings tears to my eyes.
man, that ripped right through me, even after all these years, and all these supposes bad ass bands (all screaming and arppegiating noe)... I want good music by goo d people back, is it possible>??
Mark Kendall always loooks so laid back. I don't know if he is just that into the music or has just burned a big dube!!!! Probably a little of both lol!!!! Great fucking song!!!
The 80ies? Hahaha, fuck 'em. Songs like this are responsible for the fact that nowadays people laugh at them, hahaha. Long hair, whining vocals and blond chicks in line ... uuuuhhh ... ahhhhhh ... Make your homework, dudes, and listen to things like "Baby, baby, baby", "Nice boys don't play Rock'n'Roll" or "Envoyé". Only THEN will you know that there was more to 80ies than ridiculous hair metal.
@shelivade91 No way, you're wrong, as far as I'm concerned, Nashville Pussy, the Spaceshits, the Sisters of Mercy, Young Gods, Stone Temple Pilots, Midlake, Cold War Kids and Stone Roses are no crap and no standard thing. So go back to start and ask yourself what is important in music. BTW, I don't diss GW, I diss the song which is crap!!! That's my point!
@inspiralroses I don't need to ask myself shit. Glam Metal most certainly has its place in time and it would have lasted into this new century if it wasn't for those trope talentless Grunge acts like Stone Temple Pilots and The Melvins. Fuck em', this is a great song.
I sat on stage with these awesome pirates. I wore my snakeskins and they ruled the night. Okc, Okla. 10-13 yrs ago? They do Zeppelin better than Zeppelin! This song is so for me!
love this music i miss the 80s there was music back than not half this crap that is out there now! i saw great white live and they were very good they were a very under rated band.
Rock ballads don't get any better than this....raw heartfelt emotion... incredible melody.. awesome keyboards...great riffs...We really miss Jack Russell..get well soon Jack!!
Rock ballads don't get any better than this....raw heartfelt emotion... incredible melody.. awesome keyboards...great riffs...We really miss Jack Russell..get well soon Jack!!
This really takes me back. This song has so much truth to it. The scum of the earth lived in Hollywood and the San Fernando Valley ruining the lives of so many young women. Fuck pornography and drugs and what it does to the soul of human beings.
Close your eyes, feel what the artist is feeling! This is music, talent, awesome piano, guitar licks that sing to you, words that I hear the first time, hear the song and the story. This is when music was written from the heart, not for the charts!
@imugly678 You must mean Bobbi Brown. Better known as the babe in Warrants" Cherry Pie" video. She was Jani Lane's girlfriend at the time & I think she also dated Bret Michaels as well as other musicians. But yes, youre right, she was in several of Great Whites videos. And yes she was bad to the bone.
@123RhoadsRandy Really?? This doesn't really look anything like Bobbie Brown compared to the Cherry Pie video.. She was way hotter I guess before she appeared in that one ! :)
@imugly678 Lol...how can you tell...you cant see her face once. I just took for granted that that's who you were talking about because she was in the Once Bitten Twice Shy video at the least and I think another Great White one but cant remember which. Although I had to go back & watch this one so I cant say for sure but she was definitely one of the hair metal video "babe staples". I was gonna say, man that must be awesome to be able to recognize Bobbi from the rear.
@imugly678 Check out their "Save Your Love" video. This could be our girl here in that one as well. From whats she's wearing they might have been filmed back to back lol.
This was back when rockstars were able to play a number of instruments as giftedly as their main instrument of choice, too. Now you are very lucky to see dramatic guitar solos, great drummers and lead vocalists with good voices outside of European symphonic metal.
you have great taste in ballad rock, really bored stiff

Hugely underrated song from the 1980s. Great White always got classified as hair metal because of, well their hair, but their music was much more gritty and blues-based. Mark Kendall is more a guitarist in the Stevie Ray Vaughn mold and Jack Russell's voice has far more range and expression than spandex rock requires. Also, notice that besides the hair, this video has aged incredibly well. Great music always has a timeless feel to it.
u know i love this song so much. but nit tryin to sound crazy but i let some one down and i mostly have whole life and i don t waqnt to do it no more they love me so much. i can t do it no more right now i want to do like this song says
@JusAnotherUTuber It wasnot the bands fault for that tragedy. The manager, and effects personnel arranged the effects without their knowledge. You really think they wanted to kill their fans? If you are that twisted man, YOU NEED HELP!
this is plain great ballad...you people all wanting to cry on yourselves is killing me man..lol...i can play the keyboard parts on natural harmonics with my guitar, then blast in to this great solo that is the heart of this song man..truly a great song..guitar players on here just put some delay in it and its easy to mimic..have to say my PRS makes it easy to get the sound,3 peddles and delay off EFX on my Marshall..BAM nailed solid...play it LOUD!
mark kendall one of the best guitarist to ever play in a hair band, his style is remarkable & he has a great understanding of the blues chords.

@volley1girl1 I'm sorry about your dad. But if you had to play a song this is the best song to play. This song makes me sad.

GREAT WHITE... MURDERERS
JusAnotherUTuber 1 year ago
@JusAnotherUTuber It wasnot the bands fault for that tragedy. The manager, and effects personnel arranged the effects without their knowledge. You really think they wanted to kill their fans? If you are that twisted man, YOU NEED HELP!

@JusAnotherUTuber i guess the who are murders too your an idiot you should change your handle to just another poser

this is plain great ballad...you people all wanting to cry on yourselves is killing me man..lol...i can play the keyboard parts on natural harmonics with my guitar, then blast in to this great solo that is the heart of this song man..truly a great song..guitar players on here just put some delay in it and its easy to mimic..have to say my PRS makes it easy to get the sound,3 peddles and delay off EFX on my Marshall..BAM nailed solid...play it LOUD!
