Creator Roald Dahl may have despised the original 1971 adaption for making it too different from the book but i can't help but love the film so many classic moments came from that film. Tim Burton's adaption was brilliant but he is known for his independent imagination so i can't find his Johnny Depp Willy Wonka too be all that lovable however Gene Wilder's Willy Wonka was a lot more connectable with the aimed generation and a lot more memorable.

Reality check: Johnny Depp played in CHARLIE and the chocolate factory. The movie was altered. It's not his fault he didn't get to say those infamous lines. It's the writer's. How can anyone vote for Depp!!! Sure he's a good actor but Gene Wilder is a legend and his version of the movie is a classic. Wilder was born to play Willy Wonka and he had some of the most awesome lines that Depp didn't- "YOU LOSE! GOOD DAY SIR!" and "Springtime" and he sang "pure imagination" and the famous line "so shines a good deed in a weary world." Depp had none of these and Gene Wilder did them beautifully.
