  • one of the most awesome voices ever. i wish someone would post the "Hopeless Romantic" album on youtube...

btw, is it just me or does she look kinda linda carter-ish here??

  • @fixfireleo The Comparison with Linda Carter has been done often in comments... I guess this must be something in the face ...

  • I'm in la-la land,,, and DON'T WAKE ME OR ELSE!!! lol!!

  • If you check RIAA, Recording International Association of America, you will see that Crystal's "Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue" LP is in fact the first platinum LP for a country artist. You might want to check you information..OK. I try to post info. that has been verified.

Although Lynn Anderson had success with Rose Garden, that was basically her only big hit.

  • @amunrey Agree, I always read Crystal was the first female country singer to achieve a platinium album.

I guess this finally may be only about the single, or song itself ?

  • @amunrey By your reasoning, one could also say Dont it Make My Brown Eyes Blue was Crystal Gayle's only "big" hit. There are monster hits, then there are big hits. A song like Rose Garden is a once in a career song for any artist, if they're lucky. According to research it went #1 in 16 countries around the world. To expect a repeat of that success from a country artist back then would be unrealistic. Lynn Anderson had 11 #1 records. You may want to go back to the research table.

  • @amunrey you're not as informed as you think, obviously. This song is a Lynn Anderson classic that Crystal borrowed. Her version pales in comparrison to Lynn's. As a kid in the mid-late 1970s, Lynn Anderson was the only female country singer I'd see all over network TV ..even on shows where you wouldn't normally see country stars.

  • Also, "Brown Eyes/Blue" was NOT the first platinum record by a female country artist ... that would be, yet again, LYNN ANDERSON's "Rose Garden".

  • great songas always

  • What a great song. I don't understand why so few have covered this.

  • Crystal hit #1 in Billboard, 10-25-86. God bless!

  • Crystal will always be a favorite of mine. Damn wish I could sing like her.

  • wow version

  • Crystal was the first country artist to enjoy equal success in pop and country genre. Actually she was the first country artist to achieve platnium status with "Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue."

  • @amunrey Actually, that's not true. Ladies like LYNN ANDERSON, who came a few years before Crystal and paved the way for her, were the first to have country/pop success. Lynn Anderson's "Rose Garden" was #1 pop and country, and also went to #1 in 16 countries around the world. She (Lynn) also owns this song, 'Cry", as she recorded it years before Crystal and had the first big hit in the country genre with it. Nice try .. but, again, there were others before Crystal who enjoyed crossover hits

  • she has every tool in her toolbox

  • I have always loved this woman ! :)

  • The absolute total package. Somewhat overshawdowed by mega-star sis., she is a star in her own right.

  • @swampfoxgeneral Sorry,, she is no one's shadow,,,,,, no one!!!!!

  • @swampfoxgeneral Sorry,, she's in no one's shadow,,,,,, no one!!!!!
