  • great video, I had been believing a lot of those myths for a while now, not really practicing them hardcore, but had heard them or read them one place or another and adopted them into my mind as fact

but going with what I know about the human body, and my generally philosophy against this quick-cure/ result culture we live in, what you're saying makes a whole helluva lot more sense

    liked

  • Hey Ian what's your sources for this? I mean I believe you and all, but it would be nice to see some reasearch papers or articles on it :) hope you reply to this! (and/or put links in the description)

  • creatine mono used to sell for $100 per 300 grams in the 80's

  • Good info, thanks.

  • What about the creatine-ethyl-ester and cre-alkalyn? Some studies support that these types are absorbed into the muscle tissue in an acute manner, however i think these are studies sponsored by the companies... iv'e read that kre-alkalyn isn't very effective, but still, theoretically for example the types in NO-xplode should be there for a reason as it is not monohydrate. Im not premoting anything, i hate the principal of pre workouts, and personally use creatine monohydrate.

  • What is your bb.com username?

  • what you think on creatine while on a no carb diet? i know this wuestion gets tossed around a lot but jus wanted your opinion

  • Ian ur right, but NO Xplode is actually a preworkout supp contains caffein and creatine so impossible to take it as a postworkout and time for it really matters b4 the workout.

  • Go ian, FUcK hodge twins

  • I didnt like you in the beginning. Cuz you attacked the hodgetwins . But you know what your saying.

  • Nice video.

  • you are a nice person keep this videos comming

  • Good review. From a Hodge twin fan.

  • bet the dislikes are from the supplement companies lol

  • great points! nice review

  • #470 ;)

  • there i took the 464/464 ratio to 465/464. Yall can thank me later.

  • damn, all the dislikes on a good video

  • what about coffee? is there any problem with taking coffee and creatine?

  • what about 5 grams a day post-workout so it gets stored in the muscle tissue?

  • so many haters!

  • you are so intelligent.

you make these youtube haters dumb as fuck, and I like like it!

  • I've watched a few of your videos and I really like that you leave out opinion and state JUST facts and science, BUT I'm just curious (no disrespect) where do you get your information from? I'm only wondering because your such a young guy and it is pretty impressive that you know so much.

  • Also, all you fuckers who are seriously taking the time out of your day to come over here and 'dislike' Ian's videos really need to get some kind of hobby, or life. I feel that you know that you enjoy his content, but because he called your favorite "gurus" out you have to continue your dick-riding of these false information spewing idiots. Just admit it, Ian knows exactly what the fuck he's talking about, and you watch all his videos because you know that he does as well. Don't be a stupid fuck

  • IAN: YOU HAVE TO SEE THIS, HAHAHAHAHA

Look into this absolutely RIDICULOUSLY SCAMMING new supplement called "Anabolic Prescription" by a company named "Rivalus" It cost $175.00 bucks, but the best thing...is look at the ingredients:

    2-methylguanidino ethanoate

    2-amino-3-hydroxyphenol

    2-methyl-4-hydroxybutanoate

Pretty sure that first compound is just Creatine, with it's full chemical name. This has to be one of the largest supplement scams ever. What else can you tell me about it?!

  • im sitting on my ass, here doing nothing, waiting for a new video lets go bro!!!

  • @BrodyLewczuk It'll be up in a few hours sir.

  • @BrodyLewczuk go work out in the mean time haha ;-) (But I feel the same)

  • Haters gon hate. Keep doing your thing!!!

  • when will you upload a new video?? feels like forever since you last did!

  • could you do a review on pre workouts like jack3d?

  • i like your vids because you talk about the facts with reasoning to back it up, not like other channels where it's all biased opinions

  • @LiftingForLife

at the end of the day,,,,,, this is the second or third time u;ve replied to me... (out of only about 4 messages... you actually answer people back, so i've just subscribed!! Cheers. An off topic Q, it's up to u, but its a Q I've been wondering for ever... if I just simply have to hit my macros... just say for example, 300carbs, 150 protein... 70 fat.... does it matter WHAT SOURCE this food comes from as long as I meet and dont exceed my macros? ie. white vs whole meal, etc

  • 325 dislikes on a completely uncontroversial informative video - I might have the most dedicated haters out there. I wonder if these people realize that they're actually making me money. *shrug*

  • @LiftingForLife Just keep focusing on making good videos like this, man. As you get more viewers, the fact that you put out solid info that's backed by science will make itself known. Eventually the haters will lose interest; they always do. And mirin' shirt brah.

  • @LiftingForLife i did a vid on that lol i actually liked the video and the one on reps

  • @LiftingForLife Should anyone bother taking creatine while cutting?

  • I bet none of the people who disliked this video actually watched it

  • Can you do a video on Forearms? 'No BS Training Tips: Forearms' my forearms are really stubborn and seem to not grow.

  • Hey Ian i like your videos they are very informative.. i use to go around the internet trying to find out what info was true or false, but now it feels like i can just watch your videos and feel safe following it..

  • gonna subscribe for your new channel ! great info Ian

  • I hope you keep on making the videos Ian and thank you for all the information.

  • Good stuff, I like the way you think.

  • Hey Ian,

Does caffine cancel the effects of creatine? I've heard it does, but I find it hard to believe.

  • Can you do a video on lactic acid and the burn you feel while doing your sets in the gym? Just explain it all and why it happens etc??

  • Ye ye my boy ian

  • Hey Ian I just subbed, even tho I didn't like you at first for bashing the hodgetwins. All they were ever saying is what has worked for THEM. they never say they know everything. but you seem to know what you're talking about, so I'm willing to give you a shot, even tho it's kinda boring watching your 10+ min vids. You're far from the most entertaining, and most your vids are much longer than they need be. I believe thats the main reason why u dont have many subs, man, since your info is legit.

  • @liftingforlife I looked at the comments and I see you talk about maturity a lot Ian. I dont think arguing about religion is good especially knowing that alot of people probably willing to hear you out might be religious. Im not siding just saying if you keep coming off like that people will continue to act ill toward you . Everyone has a right to believe in whatever they choose. No person or culture should be shunned for their beliefs. Religious or atheist we are all people

  • @BenoitSmithTv Unfortunately, religion isn't the benign social construct you imply that it is. Other people choosing to believe in imaginary friends (especially in North America), affects the laws they pass, which leaders they vote for, what they teach in schools, etc. Aside from those important issues, theology is an interesting topic, and most of the time atheists such as liftingforlife are well-informed people who want to make a positive impact on other peoples' lives.

  • @LIEPANEW you dont see my point.. This is a body building chamnel. Religion is irrelevant to the main topic. I dont see why people of any religion or belief talk about lifting somr weights together without this. If its so positive then ahow it instead of diss someone for something they were raised into .. Religion been around and influenced laws since kings and queens its always been around forever. I just like to see people get along is that so bad?

  • Don't drop the channel or give up the videos mayn!

  • Hey Ian, I was sitting in nutrition lecture the other day and the prof mentioned that creatine supplementation should be cycled because the body will stop naturally synthesizing it to maintain balance and if this goes on too long it can damage the bodies natural process. Whats your take on that subject?

  • hey man got any daily multivitamins you recommend?

  • Are you into existentialism? Sartres?

  • hey man don't listen to haters. you are actually pretty big.

  • Keep up the videos man! They are informative and it seems like you do know what you're talking about.

  • great video man! try and keep most of your videos under 10 minutes like this one :)

  • Hey Ian. I've got a question. What is the reason that after a break in working out when I eventually work out my muscles get sore more on the second day after workout than on first? Is it an inflammatory process? Should I use anti-inflammatory ointment or should I just let it heal itself alone?

  • I'm a newb to ur channel nice info brehh ;)

  • Hi Ian. When are u going to release a philosophy channel? And what do you think about William Lane Craig?

  • @jardelbalboa I've already made one. youtube.com/thinkingforlife. Vids will be on there at some point.

I think WLC is the only theist worth debating but he has a tendency to make blatantly illogical statements. He's actually tried to claim that evolution itself is evidence for the existence of God, among other claims that make absolutely no sense.

  • @LiftingForLife There are plenty of decent theists, its just the ones with the most exposure (and that goes for the atheists as well) are typically the worst candidates for voicing the debate. WLC is probably the better ones out of that lot. I mean even hitchens doesnt really contribute much from an intellectual standpoint. Fun random fact, died literraly a block from me. Htown. What is your take on the Father Bannon series, he seems to be a rising star on youtube

  • @LiftingForLife f yea bro that channel will be awesome

  • i was wondering if you ever going to do a video on eggs

  • Hey Ian, I was wondering what you thought of Body Fortress's Creatine powder? thanks

  • The whole creation vs evolution argument is dumb. Its like 3rd graders arguing. Creation is evolution. If it was only creation, it would have been created a long time ago and all that would have been over with. Right now is continuous evolution.

  • Good point on the insulin effect on Creatine. You should have noted it isn't insulin dependant transporter as I think people would still follow myths due to popular belief.

  • Great video Ian.

There is a lot of support for you on various fitness/bodybuilding forums, so keep up the good work. The trolls will slowly get tired.

Good to see you are sticking to your guns and I am enjoying the 'Science in 60 seconds' clips.

    Fight the good fight.

  • Wanted to say that i personally prefer the long videos, where you go slightly into detail on why you made such decision about subject.Cause 10-20min to sum up reasearches on a video is job well done.Perhaps in future, you want to add 15-20sec. image clip of summed up with all issues included in your video - i guess to appeal to larger crowd.

Greetings from Europe, keep it up

  • I LOVED THIS VIDEO!! you seemed more laid back bro...its like you actually enjoy giving the information!...this is the attitude you should take...more chill and more down to earth attitude bro! KEEP IT UP! :D

  • @HEWalksWithMEE It's obvious you'd rather throw out insults rather than have an intelligent discussion so I'm going to go ahead and block you.

  • @HEWalksWithMEE Please just stop. You're embarrassing yourself. Your holy books were written by men, thus the whole basis of religion is manmade. The Big Bang has nothing to do with this.

  • it will be like watching the special olympics. a laughfest of entertainment.

  • Ian, what if you only take it say 4 or 5 days a week instead of every day, will that just take longer for saturation? Or would that just be useless?

  • @liftingforlife The comment section on that channel will be EPIC!

  • @liftingforlife When can we expect the first thinkingforlife video? And by the way epic ownage on that mut hewalkswithmee HAHA. EVOLUTION FTW!!

  • @BIGPONE925 Not sure. I've been surprisingly busy these past few days.

  • @HEWalksWithMEE Eh no. Religion is undeniably manmade, and morality is a function of evolution just like any other behavioral adaptation.

  • @HEWalksWithMEE

stfu already you faggot and go pray somewhere else - no such thing as unicorns in the clouds you fucking moron, hit reality sometime

  • @HEWalksWithMEE Ah, so you've changed your religion's teachings to suit human morality, demonstrating both that 1) religion itself is manmade rather than divine and 2) morality is a function of evolution rather than religion.

  • @HEWalksWithMEE What is the penalty for apostasy in Islam?

  • First video ive seen of you. Good info, ill subscribe

  • @lansky52 Thanks; I appreciate that.

  • Good video,keep them coming

  • glad your happy ian. Thanks for another wicked video!

  • @rorywestham Thanks for the support!

  • @liftingforlife Hey Ian, I have read in a few places that a pound of lean muscle will burn 50 calories a day at rest... Thing is, that seems like a bit much to me, I have also read other sources saying that a pound of muscle burns 10 - 12 calories at rest, That seems more logical to me. You have any idea how many calories one pound of muscle consumes in a 24 hour period?

  • @SnapCity1 Yeah you're lucky to get 10-12 additional calories per day out of a pound of muscle.

  • @SnapCity1

    Cont 2

Another way to look at it is a typical AVERAGE build person has between 37-41% lean muscle mass. Taking our 180lb example and a mid point, that guy has about 77 pounds of muscle. BMR takes into account everything to keep alive, but just lie in a bed and includes breathing, digestion, circulation, min brain activity, etc.. I've read you brain depending on what your thinking, or dreaming, (takes more) calories it burns, from 30 to beyond 300. LOL!

  • @HEWalksWithMEE rofl, troll or nut?

  • @savestheday88 "religious" and "nut" are usually synonymous

  • Fuck the haters!

  • Ian I this you should put the h t t p : / / w w w . on your links so people can actually click on it.

  • @HEWalksWithMEE If and when evidence is presented that supports that claim I will be glad to believe it.

  • Ian what is your opinion on body fortress creatine, in the nutrition facts, states it has like 33 grams of sugar per serving is this okay?

  • The likes are back, Good job Ian!

  • This is the only guy giving real advice.

  • I not only consider you my favourite Youtuber, but as a scientist and a person of trust. Keep going as you are man, you're an inspiration, fuck the haters

  • @benfrancis12345 Why do people like you go way to far in these youtube videos? lol look at what you just wrote. This dude is teaching you how you use creatine and you call him a "person of trust"...and "you're an inspiration"...This dude isnt your friend he doesnt give a fuck if you never watch a youtube video again. lol You dont have any type of relationship to him or any youtuber. Lmao..

  • @GusMartin2 You sound mad mate? Almost as if you're engaging in an endless struggle to get to your dream physique but failing?

  • @benfrancis12345 No Im quite content with my physique for a 17 year old actually. But I just think its retarded to be inspired and trust a person that you dont know at all, and I mean litterally at all. Hes basically known for bashing other youtubers and you act like hes a father figure or something lol. and DEFINTALY my one comment of basically laughing at your stupidity obviously has a relation to me having an "endless struggle to get to your dream physique but failing"...GENIUS!...lol

  • @GusMartin2 Yeah I'm comparing my physique to yours and quite frankly, you're worthless compared to me

  • @benfrancis12345 Ok....so your comparing my physique to yours by using my comment stating that your a fucking joke for using this guy as a role model? How could you determine my physique by a comment? Youve never even seen me...lol ur comments keep getting dumber and dumber. You make very little sense..Quite halarious actually. You can respond if you would like. I would like you too also...your comments give the youtube community a good laugh.

  • will i get big from taking Creatine complex ? please respond

  • Wait, did you just make a video promoting the use of CM, but then say it was not a potent supplement? I mysteriously cannot seem to find your exact comment lol.

  • Amazing dude! didn't see better channel about bodybuilding so far

    waiting for more videos.

  • nice man! glad you decided to continue!

  • Ian!! Much love!!

    - Jupiter

  • @Gooknukem Not to offend, but is your real name Jupiter?

  • @LiftingForLife yes. Your videos are very inspirational!

  • @Gooknukem Interesting; thanks!

  • Are you going to replace this channel?

  • @HodgeMENS Replace it?

  • @LiftingForLife discontinue this one, and instead focus on your new channel?

  • @HodgeMENS Ah. No. Absolutely not. lol

  • I started watching your vids today. you r the smartest fitness person on youtube and deserve more respect. I have learned a lot from you and will keep watching your videos

  • @6969Bobert Thanks! I really appreciate that.

  • Sorry if you answered this question already Ian, do you personally cycle creatine?

  • @nevraXmike Nope. It isn't necessary.

  • @LiftingForLife Thanks Ian!

  • One thing that does help absorption of creatine is protein. I read this in a old test result page from some study done awhile back, wish i could link it up guess it doesnt matter if i dont have the link lol.

  • IAN

Is it true that Aspirin inhibits protein synthesis? I feel like that is something that sounds like the quintessential bodybuilding myth but I'm not sure. I've done a little research but ultimately what I've found has been inconclusive. Please help, I have a heart problem and I need to take aspirin daily. I'd appreciate your input, as I always do.

  • When you get off it, your workouts get fudged up right?

  • Question about muscle soreness... Does being sore indicate that you have broken down your muscle? (tearing them) or does it simply mean that you have just exhausted the muscle. Because My legs can become sore after a sprint, and I dont think I have broken down my muscle fibers like I would if I squatted.

  • Yeah, marketing ploys.

  • thank goodness your back ian!

  • Great info as always! 141 people judge good information based on the body of the person delivering the information......

  • cmon guys what part of this video deserves 139 dislikes? the guy is trying to give us some good information here... respect.

  • @liftingforlife i was told by future ifbb pro and future retarded mr.olympia jason "the dark lord spaniard" genova to load creatine everyday, and never get less than 15 hours of sleep daily, or i would never accomplish a SICKENING physique.

  • @liftingforlife i was told by future ifbb pro and future retarded mr.olympia jason "the dark lord spaniard" genova to load creatine everyday, and never get less than 15 hours of sleep daily, or i would never accomplish a SICKENING physique.

  • Good that you decided to continue making videos.

What are your thoughts on deloading?

  • Thanks for keeping the videos up and making more videos brah i really appreciate it!!

  • Comment removed

  • can u explain beta alkaline please thanks :)

  • The amounts of creatine in a lot of these pre-workout supps aren't even sufficient enough to be effective (if the manufacturers are gracious enough to list the ingredient breakdown). Just say no to pre-workout supplements altogether.

  • Thanks for staying brother.

  • If I take a pre-workout stim like Jack3d and it has creatine in it.. Should I still take a 5g serving with my post-workout protein shake? or will this be too much

  • Ain't creatine bad for your kidneys? It causes over-retention of water.

  • @HodgeMENS

Increased creatinine can be a sign of kidney damage but that does not mean the reverse is true. It would be like saying, "When it rains, the ground gets wet. Therefore, if the ground is wet then it must have been from rain." Correlation does not imply causation.

  • @Ryshu Um, no I think you are either confused or you have never taken creaTINE before. Creatine's side effect is excess water retention in muscles. Nice try with the analogy though.

  • @HodgeMENS

Creatinine is the break-down product of creatine phosphate, which is filtered by the kidneys. It's this relationship between kidney damage and creatinine which is a large cause in leading people to incorrectly assume that creatine is a cause rather than simply related. Strong lack of knowing wtf you're even talking about when you post like I just made up the word, LOL.

  • @Ryshu I like how you just assumed I thought you made up that word. The UNBROKEN creatine monohydrate(NOT CREATININE) may cause kidney damage, and people with pre-existing renal issues are advised not to use it. Please do your research before pretending like you know what you're saying.

  • @HodgeMENS There is no evidence whatsoever that creatine supplementation causes kidney dysfunction in healthy individuals. Zero.

  • @LiftingForLife: R there any long-time studies as evidence for not causing dysfunctions?

  • @HodgeMENS

LOL, so you go from asking a very broad question to fervently arguing specific cases of pre-existing medical conditions? My comment about creatinine was only to point out the incorrect assumption of them being the same thing, to which you respond by arguing that they are not the same thing... which is exactly what I just said. Obvious troll is obvious.

  • @Ryshu Wow, do you know how to read? First of all, I never asked anybody anything. Second, I NEVER said they were the same; even Ian says they're not, and now you switch sides. You clearly have dyslexia.

  • @HodgeMENS Creatine and creaTININE are not the same thing sir.

  • @LiftingForLife Um, I never said that. I'm talking about taking creaTINE as a supplement.

  • So, what brand of creatine do you take? Or what brands would you recommend that you've tried and seen good results with?

  • Thanks for sticking around Ian. You have great info and I always look forward to hearing what you have say

  • how about taking creatine while cutting?

  • LOOKING FRESH BRO

  • Great information. Please keep them coming. I'm new to your channel so your still getting new subscribers. Also I'm recommending your channel as well.

  • 81 people are pursuing a P.H.D. in BroScience.

  • can you give us some advice on supplements we can take to help us burn fat?

  • @GorillaWorkout1 eat less. it doesn't cost much either.

  • Thanks for coming back Ian! U are a true inspiration. I feel healthier simply by following your nutrition advice!

  • @GorillaWorkout1 Thanks. I really appreciate that.

  • Good info!!!!! Thanks!

  • is there a difference between the powder and the chews? i take the chews from universal because its convenient and they taste gooooooooood lol.

    thanks
