  • We have theese in southern california, the only difference is their, they are wild turkistan roaches. You will rarely find males, and the colonies are all seperated there are places for nymphs and adults. Plus the wild ones Males dont get along with each other, when I had males with each other they wrestle and I had to put the biggest male in different cage with 4 females, I hate when it southern california palm springs sand storms happen, if you dont clean cages they can climb them.

  • 4:24 haha i never thought of that. i was about to ask, how the hell do u get all of them out in a timely fashion

  • Dont they stink?

  • @kru0008 They have a musky odor in large quantities. There are 3-4 distinctive odors when it comes to roaches. Their frass (ammonia smelling), die offs (very offensive in large numbers) their own unique odor, and some have a defensive odor to ward off predators. I keep, breed and raise 35 different species, so there are many different odors. Unless they need cleaning or there are allot of dead, the smell isn't that bad and usually only noticeable when taking lid off.

  • @moose9900 yeah but how are they compared to dubias?

  • @kru0008 They smell more than B. dubia.

  • @moose9900 okay. Thanks for your time sir!

  • I just bought some from this guy :)

  • @papichulo1velez The eggs may be infertile or your temps may be to high. I don't do anything special and they hatch in less than 4 weeks with temps generally in the 80's. My temps fluctuate all the time, Good luck, keep trying.

  • hi, very nice and informative video :)

i'm wondering how many months will it take for a nymph to grow to an adult size ready for breeding? because i bought 500 nymphs, and they're too much for my tarantula slings, and i want them to grow so i can breed them. thanks :)

  • @pinkchocoboxiii Depends on the size you purchased. All sizes are nymphs until mature. From newborn to adult can take 3-5 months depending on your temps, humidity, feeding, etc. I had about 1000 medium mature within 1-2 months.

  • @moose9900 thank you for the reply! :)

i don't know how old my nymphs are but the nyphms that i bought are .5cm-1cm(1/4 of an inch) in size. how long until they breed? how many adult female/male would make a colony? thanks :)

  • @pinkchocoboxiii I am guessing you have a good 3-4 months. It only takes a pair of male and female to start a colony. A colony can be any size you want. It all depends on how you control it after you get one going. An established colony would be one you could feed or sell from regularly without fear of running out.

  • @moose9900 thank you! :) i think i'm just going to buy and adult than to wait for 3-4 months lol! thanks again :)

  • Really?Wow you go through roaches like nothing.

  • Could you make another update? Thanks.

  • @carpetbeetle98 Not on this species, I am currently out.

  • awesome video, especially for starters!

  • you must eat alot of eggs lol

  • Our lats are doing great - lots of egg cases and they're eating like champs - our T's love them too! If you're thinking about switching from crickets, stop thinking and just do it because these really are so much better :D

  • great video, just wondering when you will be doing the 1 about incubating the egg sacs, cause i have just started a colony and there is loads of egg sacs on the bottom and i dont know whether to move them or not

  • I will be doing it soon as I get time. You could leave them, they'll hatch and add to the colony or you can keep them separate from the breeders to make it easier to collect the baby nymphs for feeding small slings etc. For me, its easier to remove because I need certain size feeders all the time. Transferring egg cases into other containers helps me accomplish this.

  • awsome update video Greg and you are so right about the cat food cause I have used cat food before and man it makes my room smell so much so I stopped feeding it to them. great video and I can't wait till your next video.

  • Thanks Matt, happy you liked it. I was sorry to hear you had to get rid of yours or most of them. I'm working on other videos. Have a couple feeding videos coming up and other roach videos, post molts, how to's, etc.
