Hi Mayen! Im a newbie in using fondant and I love your work. Im currently in houston and my friend in the phil told me about you. Im amazed on how passionate you are in cake decorating using fondant. it makes me wanna be more serious and continue what ive started. just one question, where did you buy those plastic containers you used for you mini cakes? ive searched almost all craft stores here like micheals and hobby lobby but to no avail. thanks so much for your videos. they are so inspiring!
wow i really like it, i´m starting with fondant technique and its gonna be the second birthday of my daughter and i was thinking in a minnie mouse cake,
Love the cake!! You are so creative. I love watching your videos...I'am so amazed! Keep up the good or should I say Awesome job!! Keep the videos coming too!!
This is adorable it's every little girls dream cake and looks like a proffesional who has been decorating cakes for 20 years made this!!! Your cakes are always beautiful, please continue to make them! =)
How long have you been a cake decorator? I really enjoy your videos. You have a wonderful way of simplifying the technique. I have just one question for you in reference to the Minnie Mouse theme Fondant Cake video. Where did you purchase the clear containers for the mini cupcakes? Also, do you currently offer a cake fondant decorating course in your area?
hey mayen great cake.any body out there know how to be on youtube or make a video on youtube?????????????im dying to know!!!!!!!!!!please comment to answer me
hello mayen, i just can't help posting a comment on your beautiful cake. For more than 8 years baking had been my passion because my kids do love cakes so much, and i love the smile on their faces when i get to tell them that the cake is ready, and to tell you honestly i can make cakes similar to what we can see being displayed by goldilocks and red ribbon. My husband and i separated years ago, but he didnt want to give me my baking equipment eventhough i was the one who bought them.
Thanks :) Im glad to know that your kids are indeed your greatest fans! I do hope you can continue making cakes and use your talent to make more people smile. If you can share your recipes with me id be SO HAPPY!!!!
i salute to u mayen!!! you have wonderful cakes.. especially those mini ones. everytime i watch your video, it inspires me. i really want to learn. and i've been telling you this, and i don't get everything right.ugh.. thanks for all the help mayen!!!!
oh thank you--and never give up! i get frustrated at times too, but it's always nice to take a peek at the nice encouraging comments here on youtube and it gets my blood pumping again :) and there's always snags here and there... nothing is perfect...but we learn to make the best of what there is and take a spin on it and make it work :)
Very nice my fren....Congratulations again...I am on the process of preparing my Son's Birthday cake..another 3 days... :)..Love the mini cake soo much....
What a great cake! I really admire your Your talent. You should sell your cake. Mini cakes are great too. Thank you for sharing us these beautiful cakes.
Thanks :) wish i could sell 'em, but i cant... it's pretty strict where i live and you can only 'sell' if you are in a licensed commmercial kitchen -- duh-- anyway, i still enjoy making them :)
I got your reply! Thanks for the info! I always wondered how the frosting could be slanted...just doesn't make sense to me. I seriously love this cake though, especially the bottom tier with the imprinted designs. You are very very talented.
Thank you! I have read that you can make slanted cakes two ways- one is to actually carve the cake into a slanted cake-- two, to use your regular cakes and have a wedge in between them when stacking and it will make the tiers slant. I honestly dont think any frosting will be able to support the weight of the top tier -even with dowels as support. It might collapse...unless you are making just a one layer cake. Maybe that would work. havent tried it though.
BTW I dreamed to major in Bio and ended up being a Vet Tech. for 7yrs. Look where we both are now..LOL :)..Ok, I'll let u get back to those cool cakes!
Great cake. I'm a new sub to you, you never seem to amaze me, well....actually you do amaze me :)! You have a wonderful talent and not only a great imagination, but wonderful attention to detail. I'm going to start culinary school in August and all I keep thinking about is cake design! LOL. In which I'm sure they won't cover so much creativity. Your vision of cakes have me prepping to start practicing now. Thank You!
wow... thank you & thanks for subscribing!:) it's great that you will be starting on culinary school soon! i wish i could do that now. this is a far cry from my biology degree :) it's a great honor for me to receive such a statement ... thanks again!
What an impressive cake! The mini Minnie cakes were really cute and the bouquet was absolutely adorable! I kept going "aaaw" while watching the video.
Wow! Wonderful job!! I love the 'hints' of Minnie, each tier is unique yet tied together. Also love the pink and yellow together, very very pretty!! Oh, I'm too scared to try topsy-turvy, kudos Mayen!!
Like i told mimzywhimzy, i think i chickened out when i was carving the cake that's why it turned out to be 'halfway there' looking... I am so happy you like this cake :) I really like the hints of the theme and i tried hard to make the whole cake look 'together' -- oh, you really get what i tried to do ! Thanks so much :)
Thanks ! Do try it ! Im not a buttercream guru like seriouscakes is... and there are tons of great stuff you can do with buttercream & royal icing... and you can add fondant to your list :) fondant is really fun since the things you can create with it are endless :)
HOLY CRAP!! That looks EXTREMELY....omg.....Ate Mayen, you left me speechless. That is the most amazing cake I've ever seen. Too bad she's 2 and won't really remember the cake. If I had a cake like that I'd probably find a way to preserve it forever. It looks toooo pretty to eat. And I love the minicakes, how do you make em? do you have a small mold or do you use like a round cookie cutter or something?
Thanks Dizzy! It was really nice when they saw the cake ... and the pictures will serve as a great memory marker for them. The mini cakes are really super small...2 and 1/2 inches in diameter and there are special molds/pans for this. it's the alan silverwood brand. im so happy you like this one!
they truly are... i guess i chickened out when i was carving the cake that's why it didnt look angled enough... i will try again :) i used a lot of dowels for this one... i cant imagine how many i'll use for a really super angled cake!!!
wohoo ! thanks!!! im happy you saw it .. it was a little wimpy topsy turvy attempt... cause i didnt angle / cut it enough...but i am SUPER happy you saw it :)
Looks like right out of a cartoon. Very well done.
